  1. Jones' end to the season might just win it for him. Junior had a few disappointing games for me, whereas Jones showed something in nearly every match he played this season. Deserves recognition for all of his hard work. As does Bell BTW.
  2. Great effort, thanks heaps Krazy. I love his comments about our facilities... it smells like a footy club, and a weight is just a weight. That is a brilliantly positive view! Very happy that he's already looking at the list and that he has spoken to our senior players, who surprisingly are really looking forward to next year . I hope he doesn't buy it, we've been hearing that sort of shite for years!
  3. We absolutely must keep our first round pick... unless Judd wants to come home Not many teams are willing to trade first round picks. The only way we could get an extra one is if we traded TJ or Robbo. I'd like to keep both, but you'd have to seriously consider it if a club was offering that in a trade.
  4. That's a bit harsh! There is no doubt that Connolly is extremely passionate about Melbourne, and it's great to have passionate people who truly love the club, be part of it. He'll be a great marketing personality for us.
  5. Selwood averages 19.4 possessions a game, Pendlebury averages 16.9. Joel Bowden's average is 25
  6. Well done to Jonesy! To finish 3rd overall when you consider that Selwood and Pendelbury have had a lot of support around them, and that Jones was doing it largely on his own, is a great effort. Selwood is a very deserving winner, but I'm glad they've finally recognised all of Jones' efforts in what has been a very difficult year for his team. He is without a doubt our biggest shinning light of 2007, and should take home the B&F next month.
  7. Excellent news that he got off, although he probably did deserve a week just for stupidity.
  8. Great, less things for Craig Cameron to worry about. He can now spend even more time finding us gems like Bartram! Too many people at the MFC are doing too many things. The more money we invest into paying different people to do specific tasks, the better things will get done and the better we'll perform on field.
  9. 1. Do you know how tough Bailey is? Got any proof that he isn't as tough, if not tougher, than Sheedy? 2. Success raises reputation. Case closed. 3. Some successful AFL coaches under the age of 60: Roos, Warsfold, Thompson, Clarkson, Laidley... in fact, is there a team in the top 8 coached by anyone over 60? I'm a fan of Sheedy, but he does have a lot of downsides. Bailey is the future and as a club, we need to look forward.
  10. This is a massive coup for Melbourne, with 3 of the 5 candidates now at the club. For all of his downfalls as a coach, I think Connolly has a lot of very positive characteristics which would be a welcomed addition to our club. Besides, he is great with the media, which balances well with Bailey. Well done Melbourne. Very exciting times ahead!
  11. Newton is already in our best 22, as is Petterd. And with the retirement of Bizzell, Brown, and the likely delisting of Ferguson and Ward, Frawley will most definitely be part of our regular backline. He was a first round pick, and has shown glimpses of pace, calmness under pressure, and good defensive pressure already. He should absolutely be played next year as part of our continued development of a spine. Whelan is extremely injury prone, and hasn't been his accountable self this season. He has a good sense of where the ball is, and there is nothing to suggest he can't replace Pickett's role in the side as a half forward (and he'll chase too )
  12. Anyone who doesn't have Frawley, Newton or Petterd in their line up, is not thinking ahead. All 3 will be in our best 22 next year, or we're in real trouble. BTW, I'd love to see Whelan in the forward pocket next year. Bell, Pettard and Bartram can cover him down back.
  13. Well done to Jonesy, a thoroughly deserved accolade, and one that will hopefully be topped with a B&F win. It has been an absolute pleasure watching you go about your business this season, and you have definitely made this year easier to digest.
  14. Listening to Bailey this afternoon, I have a feeling he'd enjoy working with our young kids, in particular those who haven't quite made it in the system yet. He is primarily a teaching coach, something that IMO we've really lacked over the years. We have plenty of good youngsters who show promise and yet fail to take the next step. I'm hoping that Bailey can take the likes of CJ, Miller and yes maybe even Jamar (painfully terrible!) and turn them into good solid players. I much rather get rid of older players with no promise (e.g.- Ferguson), and keep a kid who has struggled but has nice attributes (e.g.- Warnock). Hopefully Bailey agrees.
  15. Carlton's biggest issue is not their young players, it's the fact that they haven't got any decent senior players. Their best 'senior' player is a Fevola the nutjob, who is hardly a good role model. They also have no backline, very limited forward line outside Fevola and have already wasted early picks on the likes of Walker and Kennedy.
  16. Let me start off by saying that I love Juice. However, I think that last night we saw glimpses of the old Juice, the one who couldn't get a game earlier in the year because he was all over the place. Earlier in the game he got dragged for not playing a team game, he then lost the plot and got reported. Basically, he let his emotions get the better of him. I sort of hope that he gets a week for stupidity, and that it teaches him to think before acting on the field. He still has a lot to learn, but when he does, he has the potential to be an absolute star.
  17. PACE... we are desperate for some pace both through the middle, and out of the backline. Especially if when they give Ward the boot. Bartram's return will help us a lot, but that's still not enough.
  18. Robbo is an absolute enigma. Not a clue why he went to throw his shoes into the crowd... maybe to say thanks to those of us who turn up each week to watch them play like crap... Very disappointing game from most of our senior players, who under no pressure, should have had a bigger impact. White, Green and especially Bruce were all poor. Thought Junior was completely disinterested, which is very uncharacteristic. Overall it was a terrible game to finish off a terrible year. At least McLean, Jone, Dunn, Bate and Juice give us some hope going forward. And if it wasn't for Bode's constant fumbling, he would have got a mention too.
  19. It was a very good move, even if he didn't have an opponent and even if nobody cared about the match. If it was Bailey's instruction, then I'm very happy indeed. Now if only TJ could learn to be accountable going the other way...
  20. Errrr, when did our success come into it? We've been extremely poor in the last 40 odd years, there is no denying that, but we have 11 more premierships than the Saints, we've played off in more Grand Finals, have won less spoons and were once a powerhouse. Sure, that's all in the past now, but I find it ironic that St.Kilda supporters feel the need to dispense advice about winners and losers and success. They wouldn't know what success is. And yes, I really really hate that club! <_<
  21. I cannot stand the man personally (have had a few unpleasant encounters with him at my old job), but he will be a huge loss to St.Kilda My heart really bleeds for that club
  22. 1 flag in over 100 years More wooden spoons than any other club St.Kilda= Losers I am so incredibly thrilled that Adelaide won last night and pushed them out of the finals!
  23. Haha, so does mine, but only because Dad and I have gone on and on and on about what we might do if he is selected to be head coach. I think she's just happy we'll shut up about it now! Everyone is an armchair critic, everyone loves to have an opinion, and that's fine.... unless you barrack for St.Kilda, the most unsuccessful football club on this planet.
  24. Well, this can't hurt Miller's career, which is not a bad thing.... unless Bailey thinks he's rubbish and delists him. Now wouldn't that be ironic
