  1. How can they play hardball? Is he not out of contract? 🤷‍♀️
  2. No we didn’t we got a second round pick as well. The initial offer was pick 46 only.
  3. If that’s what you think then that is your right. I think we tried to make it work and in the end it was Grundy who cracked it and gave up. 3 clubs in 3 years. Ask yourself who the common denominator is.
  4. It didn’t work. But we tried. Better to have tried and failed than to have done nothing. In the end we didn’t lose anything.
  5. I don’t think we make this trade unless we have something else already in the pipeline. Either we are trying to get pick 1, or we have a big name trade that we need to acquire top 10 picks for.
  6. And? We don’t need points. We clearly don’t think we will take more than one maybe two picks in the draft (plus list upgrades etc). We are going all in on pick one. Bring it on.
  7. Future picks don't need to come into this. 14 and Grundy for McLean is a very good deal and a win win for both teams as they both get something they really need.
  8. What club would sign off on North ending up with picks 1, 2 and 3? Go home North, you're drunk!
  9. Indeed, but Swans will want more for McLean.
  10. If Petty wants to go home then he’s essentially saying he wants to go back to live in a country town and not play AFL. His “home” is not Adelaide. It’s not even near Adelaide. The lure might be his Adelaide based girlfriend, but at 23 that relationship may not last. Or his girlfriend might relocate to Melbourne. 2 years is a long time when you are 23 years old. I’m not letting him go unless he’s categorically unwilling to stay or his foot is busted. We can always trade him next year while he’s contracted after he won us a flag kicking 50 goals 😀
  11. Was this Dodoro pulling a prank? A laughable offer.
  12. Proof once again that draft picks are not always the Hail Mary we all hope they will be. For every Oliver and Trac there are dozens of O’Briens. It is why trading quality players is very risky. Petty can be a major contributor to a flag in 2024 and we can then still trade him while contracted. It would be silly to let him go now, unless we believe his foot injury will prevent him from having an impact on games next year and we can get better value now.
  13. Two years is a long time. I’m backing us to keep him.
  14. That’s fair. I am sure everyone has had their own experiences with people both good and bad. I’ve said it on here before that Tom was extremely kind and generous and went above and beyond for my friend’s kid when he was diagnosed with cancer. I have also met Emma through work and she was extremely kind and didn’t scream WAG like quite a few other footballer’s wives I’ve worked with.
  15. My best friend who is a Carlton supporter literally texted me that she's never been happier to see a player delisted. No, thank you.
  16. This is my gut feel too. To let him go for so little seems weird. On the other hand, he's given us great service for many years and I applaud the club for not standing in his way and just getting it done for his sake. All the very best Harmsey. You started a chain of events that brought limitless joy to thousands of Melbourne fans and you will always be a Premiership hero!
  17. You reckon Maynard practices those types of 'football acts' on Murphy at training?
  18. Didn't Pies fans carry on that Melbourne were negligent to let Gus play despite his previous concussion issues? They didn't seem to mind Murphy playing. If only they were bright enough to understand what irony is.
  19. JJ is not fast nor an elite user. He is best suited for an inside mid role.
  20. Any player we might be interested in? Going to be quite thin on for midfield depth without Dunstan, JJ and Harmes.
  21. But if the deal is not going well, other clubs can still come in and try and lure Grundy away from Sydney. That will create a bidding war. We can't just bend over.
