  1. Oh my god man, its like I just had a flash back and i'm at the Valhalla circa 1985. All I can remember man is this strange kinda haze and this sweet sweet odour and something about a penguin. Oh and my hands ,dude they're so big !
  2. Not sure we really need to turn too technology to adjudicate on those rare occasions when a goal is in doubt. I would prefer a simpler solution whereby we follow soccers lead and pay a goal regardless of whether it touches the post or not. If it goes through the goals untouched by a player it's a goal. This would clean up a large part of the conjecture. Likewise I have always advocated play on if the ball bounces off the post and goes back into the field of play. I would also have grave doubts placing the responsibility of such technology in the grubby hands of the AFL hierarchy. They have of late demonstrated a very flexible attitude to their own code of conduct when their own business expansion plans are threatened. Every decision on and off the field these days seems to be based on a business plan. The sad thing is that the simple notion of right and wrong doesn't appear to be in the plan. Unfortunately I have a gut feeling that the AFL look lovingly at the way FIFA and the Indian Cricket Board conduct their affairs and find inspiration in their approach.
  3. RiP Troy. We were honoured to have known you.
  4. Warren Dean. Could kick a ball a mile , strong mark and good reader of the play. Pity he had such shonky knees . Good get Dnic, Paul Prymke always looked to me as if he was playing in slow motion but I can't remember him ever being towelled up. Considering that Prymke played against some pretty good CHF's in his first couple of years he had enormous upside.
  5. To attract bad Karma indicates that young Patton has done something to deserve bad Karma.Given that he hasn't played a game yet I doubt this is the case. Hope you get well quickly kid and have a great career. As for the other one concerned, he is so far off my radar I honestly couldn't give a flying continental either way. Time to move on people.
  6. The answers are fudgy so Neeld interrupts again: "I'm going with the grunt." When did we recruit this chap"Grunt"? He sounds like a mature age rookie but I'm not sure. Actually the more I think about it Grunt would be a perfect nickname for Magner. "GGGRRRUUNT".
  7. 20111. The Pre season to end all preseasons. With this punishing schedule I'm guessing our premiership window is now looking like 20113 -20116. The veterans list is a worry though.
  8. WTF. Thats a moustache? I always thought he was just a sloppy eater.
  9. If memory serves me correctly wasn't Brockhead Mclean recruited to Carltank to cover Juddy in such situations, e.g bottom of the pack, blocking and running interference and protecting Chris at all costs. The idea I believe was to allow Juddy some room to roam and help him finish off more efficiently . Obviously Brockhead hasn't been following team structures and Juddy has been left wide open to Twiggly. The poor bastard didn't stand a chance!
  10. Sheahan was just your typical bottom feeding journo with an over inflated ego with a love of the sensational, writing for a tabloid rag. I'm really surprised that theirs so much love for the man on this forum. Unfortunately one of AFL's many failing is a dearth of truly great writers writing about the game. There are of course exceptions and and Martin Flannigan is one that comes to mind.
  11. Neeld is marking his territory. There are two opposing ways for a new manager to approach a new group under his control. Neelds approach is too clearly establish the his methodology and his expectations from the gecko. There is to be no doubt about what is expected and demanded. The consequences of failure to comply are obvious. The opposing approach is to sit back and get the lay of the land, find out who is capable of what and then make your moves based on your observations. I have no problem with Neelds initial approach. It appears that the consensus within the Football community was that the MFC were soft and he obviously felt that a stand had to be made. Why Neeld has chosen to conduct this process through the media has probably been more for ours and the media's benefit. The supporters were well and truly at a low point at season close this year and yet by November there is an air of expectation and excitement around the place again. This excitement will have a knock on effect that will lift the entire club. The cost of this is that a few ego's have been deflated. The message however will reverberate throughout the entire group. With time I suspect that the one on one sessions will become more confidential, and in turn the club will become more protective of it's personnel. A little short term pain for some long term gain.
  12. Bail ! Bail ! Bail ! Oh, and almost forgot one , Bail ! This kid will thrive under Neeld. I can feel it in me waters.
  13. Harsh call old dee .For a first year rookie I thought he had a terrific year. Considering that as an inexperienced rookie he joined a side that was bereft of a game plan or on field leadership he did all that could be asked.
  14. Love this kid. He has speed, determination and footy smarts. I have no doubt he will become very important to our midfield and backline rotations in the years ahead. A great pickup.
  15. Outstanding draft selection. Well done BP.
  16. I may like the odd conspiracy but honestly has anybody ever witnessed someone buy The Australian? Does it actually exist. I for one doubt it . We have been conned people.
  17. Anybody who writes for Diablo himself (Murdoch) has no right to be taken seriously. A talentless hack who couldn't keep a gig with a real newspaper, alas not unlike his equally challenged comrade in mediocrity Mr Smith.
  18. Did I hear the words Science and Fevola used in the same post. Surely not !
  19. It seems that Chad may have gone the same way as Frank Ifield, so my final suggestion is TISM accompanied on stage by the Tony Bartuccio dancers from the Don Lane show. What could go wrong? Les Murray however might be a tad nervous.
  20. Gotta confess, I just can't see it. Quite simply doesn't do enough often enough. Hope I'm wrong though.
  21. If Meatloaf is the rock and roll equivalent of Sheedy I can only surmise that the Beiber equivalent would be Scully. Seeing as Bieber is a talentless haircut masquerading as a pop star, I feel its safe to conclude that Scully is equally devoid of talent and substance and is a draft pick masquerading as a footballer. Then again I could be wrong.
  22. Thanks guys for a great site. Being relatively new to Demonland my eyes have been opened to the passion that exists amongst us Demon supporters. For so long I felt as if I and perhaps my family were lone voices in the outer tortured by this great club. Now I know that their are so many other tortured souls out there. I love the passion, the anger, the frustration, the support, the ridiculous rumors and the never ending humour. Keep up the great work. Ps On the rumour front, I work with one of MM sons and he told me he's taken an a strange interest in office furniture, with particular emphasis on office desks. With all the appointments within the FD of late may I suggest one MM as Director of Desk acquisitions .
  23. What I really like about the kid is that his football is instinctive, you can't teach that. You either have or you don't. What I also noticed this year is that he can also take a good grab. Give him a strong body and endurance to match and this kid could be anything. I'm seriously excited by the GYS.
  24. Sadly, yes! It would be inconceivable to have quality entertainment at the Granny after such an illustrious history of crap. And whilst digging up Franks lifeless corpse to raise the entertainment standard does sound appealing, i fear there are laws to prohibit such unsavoury activities. May I suggest we stick to the game plan and enshrine into the laws of the game that every Grand Final from here to eternity must include one or two of the following acts, Julie Anthony, The Seekers, Barry Crocker, Angry Anderson, Dennis Walter, Marina Prior and to keep the young ones happy that gorgeous poppet Nicki Webster ( not the penthouse pet variety ) and any of the still alive young talent team. With a lineup so devoid of artistic relevance or contemporary credibility we will ensure that the AFL remains at the forefront of 1970's culture.
