Looking back, I'm not sure what I was thinking. Of course Pendlebury is worth pick 1 and in our situation I guess we'd be likely to give up pick 1 for a player who might not be worth quite that anyway. Beams if fit would be a beauty.

They haven't got much in the tall forward department at the moment aside from Cloke. Could we snare on of Pendelbury, Beams or Sidebottom? The only issue is whether or not those guys are actually worth pick one.

The thing that irks me with this is that their is no point about winning or making a good footy side. This sounds like 6 years ago all over again. Jacko specifically said that we have focussed on that sort of stuff for way too long and ignored the actual football team. It's time to change that, no Stockdale.

That's true, but I'd rather Watts out wide - he can actually deliver the ball unlike the majority of the side. Having said that, once he realises the ball isn't going to be spilling out easily he should have a dip and try and get it himself.

So what would you like to see from the new coach and in proxy the players next season? Personally, I want to see effort from the players every single week, which means the coach is instilling the will to play and win into them. As well as that, a minimum of 6 wins (which could be ambitious, have to aim high though), a workable game plan (with flair), improved skills and leadership from senior players on the field. Depending on the coach we might only get a couple or all of the above. The main thing though for me is passion on the field and effort. Too long have we been limp, not stood up for each other, not played with any intent and aggression or played for each other as a unified group. I do think that either Roos or Williams would be the best coaches to improve this aspect. They have a hard task though as it will be mighty hard to instill some hope and energy into the side after so many kicks in the guts. Anyway, as is usual for a Dees supporter, I'm looking forward to next season long before it starts. What do you want to see?

He should stop worrying about whether or not he'll be playing in a winning side and start doing his best so that we can become a winning side. Then he'll have actually achieved something.

If we manage to get a PP at least one of these has to be sought to be traded. Obviously this depends on who is available but we need rapid improvement and that won't come through drafting two more 18 year olds.

But what if our new coach is waiting on Jack Watts to sign? Then we'd be in a right pickle.

Not too sure if Taggert deserves a game but it would be good to get a look at him. He might end up playing simply because we don't have enough fit blokes by the end of the year. Tynan is my pick to come in though, has strung together some decent games recently.

It's a hell of a lot better than what even our top 10 picks have been like in their first seasons, in recent years. Good that we have picked up players that are making an impact instantly.

Terlich and Matt Jones are the best late picks we've had in a while, let's at least give them credit where it's due. Kent looking okay too.

I think Todd Viney would deserve more plaudits for the drafting/trade period but no doubt Neeld had at least some input. Maybe Harrington as well though I'm not too sure.
