  1. That's good to hear though the opportunity to play for a club in his 'home' town might be too attractive for him. I'm sure West Coast and Fremantle have approached him and know how to play the situation. We should definitely have a really good look at him though.
  2. That'll be a huge blow. I think maybe we could get a 2nd rounder (hoping the AFL sympathises with us) but he will leave a gaping hole we will absolutely need to fill with a senior midfielder. Having said that though, I'm beginning to think Sylvia will stay with us.
  3. Garlett will be another bargain pick up for either Fremantle or West Coast. I heard a big part of his success and discipline this year has been due to living with his girlfriend's family. He'll probably be reluctant to leave that environment for Melbourne so we might see a drafting battle between the two Perth clubs. Just my thoughts.
  4. I have a lot of hope for the cricket side in about 4 years time. What really surprised me watching the Ryobi Cup and Shield matches last season was the ages of the players. There were a lot of young guys (18-22) playing and most played quite well, especially in the one dayers.
  5. I didn't realize Action Jackson was Dean Baileys older brother
  6. Spot on, mature age players like Terlich and Matt Jones. The exception for me is project ruckman.
  7. In case you didn't watch the game, Toumpas was spare because North kept setting up with an extra man back. That's where they get their run and drive from the back fifty. I'd say the reason Toump was used as spare man is because if the other guys could get the ball into his hands, we'd actually have a good chance at hitting up a target coming out of defense instead of kicking long to a pack.
  8. It defies belief that people are already saying that Craig has coached himself out of the race. A few reasons: there has been a big lift since Neeld departed and Craig is essentially cleaning up a mess. There have been notable improvements in some players performances however the list is still extremely sub standard - it would be a miracle if we were to be somehow meeting the expectations of some fans at the moment. This whole season has been an absolute write off and to cancel out Craig's chances on the basis of his performance would be poor form. He hasn't had a chance to really show what he is capable of as the situation this season hasn't allowed it. Very much still in the race for me but by no means the lead candidate.
  9. Not sure about this. He was far from our worst against North and his confidence seems to be on the rise again. He is actually one of the players I feel most comfortable with when he has the ball - his skills are so good.
  10. No time for frees for Howe, the umpires were busy giving them all to Swallow.
  11. Good points. It's so bloody frustrating how little unity and mateship there seems to be. All around the ground there's just little to no support for each other, pulling each other up off the ground etc. The only one I can remember is Dawes shoving Thompson off Viney. If that situation (Toumpas) happened in a Sydney or Hawthorn game, they'd be all in there. You don't even have to be a good footy player to back up your mates, it's just pathetic.
  12. Don't agree about the height. It seems to me that physical strength, positioning and leap are much more important than a couple of centimeters. Look at Roughy (193), Pavlich (192), Walker (191), Reiwoldt (193). Saying that Hogan probably has a centimeter or two left in him anyway.
  13. Sure he isn't doing a lot at the moment but he has some real assets (his leap, pace, awareness) and I know we've said that about so many but he has performed really well in the past and is our leading goal scorer this season. He's well down the list to trade for me.
  14. You are one of the more level headed posters mate, but trade Howe? Surely not, he is the only marketable player, in the sense of attracting young supporters we have. 2.26am... Had a few softies?
  15. It's like a bad nightmare, I can't wake up and when I do it's cricket season, no joy there either...
  16. For what? A donut and a big M? In all serious I think he needs to shed a couple of kilos and work the fast twitch fibers. He tries but the body just isn't doing it for him right now.
  17. Tipping Jimmy to have a big one today. Good show of confidence from Craig and co not to drop him.
  18. I appreciate stats, especially in this easy-to-read format.
  19. I've always had hope for him mainly for above reasons (size and skills). Would be ecstatic if he put together some strong performances for the rest of the year and earnt a couple of games in the firsts. If he could play consistent, good footy he could provide that big midfielder that we've lacked for ages.
  20. What's the standard like down there? Maybe worth a rookie spot as a back up tall.
  21. Young Dee... that's a bit over the top. Sure he could kick and he could run but Bennell couldn't do much else. He was way off the mark in terms of toughness and just had no confidence. Your last sentence is true though, if he had been drafted by anyone else he would have won a brownlow by now.
  22. There is no way you can say that is a fact. What is fact is that a couple of people in the industry have said they would have taken Toumpas first. You can't speak for every other recruiter in the AFL. The other fact is that we have Toump and not Wines so we have to wait and see how Toumpas develops as a player in his own right and not how he compares to Wines.
