  1. Already glad I decided to stay home.
  2. I cant even find live radio online for this as SEN won't work for me and ABC 774 is [censored] talk.
  3. And we drew with Sydney who have gone on to beat Essendon (who are in super form) and West Coast away (who were unbeaten).
  4. Don't know if this has been posted, but Gysberts and Wona look likely to play http://www.melbournefc.com.au/News/Article/tabid/7415/default.aspx?newsid=111076
  5. One psychological term that comes to mind with this club (sometimes; against Hawthorn Sunday was perfect example) is the bystander effect. The bystander effect or Genovese syndrome is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases where individuals do not offer any means of help in an emergency situation to the victim when other people are present. The probability of help has in the past been thought to be inversely related to the number of bystanders; in other words, the greater the number of bystanders, the less likely it is that any one of them will help. Obviously has a different application with a team of football players, but there were far too many players that seemed to have the attitude that "someone else will stand up" on the weekend. We a need a team where all players will themselves into the game when things are going wrong (either as a team or individually), not a team of players who just want to play hot potato with any form of responsibility.
  6. Out: 22 that played on Sunday In: Casey
  7. Jurrah was hopeless Sunday, and he wasn't great against Sydney. Still young and inexperienced though. My biggest problem with the game was the lack of forward pressure. The better teams right now put a lot of pressure on the opposition players when the ball is in their F50. With Melbourne, the ball is like a really quick boomerang. In and out of the 50 in a matter or seconds. Our forward 6 need to put the pressure on and keep it in there. Our backline are working too hard when the ball spends 70% of the game in the opposition backline. I will be going to Melbourne v Brisbane this week. We better put in a significantly better performance compared to Sunday. I understand that Melbourne are young and will lose games against better teams. But I expect some effort from the boys and they need to make other teams earn the win. Rolling over like a little [censored] and letting another team steamroll you is not good enough.
  8. Keep playing like this, and I wouldn't blame Scully for leaving.
  9. Pretty poor performance. In the 3rd quarter, I honestly reckon we were worse than GC last night. Hawthorn are a better team no doubt, but we need to be more competitive. We were lucky not to lose the game by 80-100 points. It was a step back, but we have Brisbane and GC over next two weeks. Really need to play well and beat both of these teams comfortably for some confidence. Moloney was horrible tonight. I didn't watch the whole game (too painful) but every time he went near the ball, it was a turnover/mistake. The 3rd quarter was embarrassing. Hawthorn just kept it in their forward 50 and had countless shows on goal.
  10. I bet you Melbourne doesn't beat GC by over 100 points in a couple of weeks time. I reckon we will only win by 4 or 5 goals. We have always lacked the ability to smash teams (excluding Sydney last year, which was a rarity), particularly when we are expected to win. In fact, if we play liked we did against West Coast last year, GC will beat us.
  11. This is the most compelling argument so far, so I am inclined to agree!
  12. Hawks will win because they are a more developed and (at this stage) better side then us. We need to be competitive and learn from the experience.
  13. Some early draft picks from last year are struggling. Morabito is out for the season for Fremantle and now this with Scully. Glad Trengove is fit, and Martin for the Tigers. Hope this isn't true, but it's not looking good. The more he misses, the less likely GWS will chase him in my opinion.
  14. I went to that game to and was disgusted.
  15. Very impressed with his performance today. I put him in my supercoach team @ just over $100,000 dollars the other night so am happy with that decision!
  16. Happy with a draw against a team that will finish above us at the end of the season. Waisted opportunities by both teams throughout the game. We played a 'C grade' game in my opinion and done well to snatch 2 points. We can play much better than we did, and with Scully, Morton, Frawley, and McKenzie (among others) to come back, there is so much better to expect. Tappscott was brilliant, a major positive from today.
  17. Not our worst today. Some dodgy moments but I would still have him in the team at his current performance.
  18. Excuse my ignorance! I forgot that there were two Bolton's in the team. Thanks for clarifying Mikey.
  19. Someone mentioned Bolton playing for Sydney which is not the case as he has retired.
  20. Losing Scully is a big loss. Might be the difference but I will still go with the Dee's by 5 points.
  21. FOR F&%KS SAKE....we can never have a good start to the season. Really need others to step up now, but with our injury list as it is, I think we'll struggle to win a game in the first few rounds bar Brisbane.
  22. Herald Sun article suggests that Scully is in doubt but Trengove is right to go.
  23. Terrible record. Need to beat Sydney to change it. Certainly cannot see us beating Hawks, so if we lose to Sydney, record is likely to remain until at least 2012.
  24. This game will be much closer. Sydney will not allow a thumping again. Melbourne by 19 points.
