  1. Big game for Jack, put himself forward and talking it up... Time to walk the walk on Monday.
  2. Pedo has improved massively and will be a dangerous 2-3 forward with Hogan. I think Dawes has had a big impact both on Pedo, but also Watts.
  3. I think Roos is being tempered and even downplaying the value we've got from the Tyson/Salem for Kelly deal (plus other bits), so as to enable us to negotiate another deal at the end of this year. If GWS reckon they were stiffed they will resist dealing with us again... so best be quiet about it.
  4. Age article - Inside the world of Liam Jurrah Interesting...
  5. Swans currently unstoppable. Cats may have seen the tide finally turn, for the worse.
  6. was more thinking who of Fyfe or Cameron would the MFC need more?
  7. I think there will be better deals to build a great team this trade period than that presented by Cameron, assuming Hogan returns to full fitness and demonstrates his class. Everyone in Vic will want Cameron, he is fully valued given his AA and Coleman tally from last year. So the price being paid for him will be overs UNLIKE the sweet deal we did for Tyson and Salem... Reckon there will be a couple of ready to bloom players that we'll line up and pay cheap for.
  8. Why would a life long Football person with a passion for developing footballers, switch across to become a business man managing a football club? The pinnacle is to COACH a Premiership team, not be CEO of a Premiership team. Roos would look at Head of Football dept, or development role. To suggest CEO implies you don't know whats involved in being a successful CEO.
  9. I'm quite the opposite OD, I'm worried he's going to hurt himself or someone else, such will be his enthusiasm at playing his first game. He's spent the last year and half getting ready to be released onto an AFL field in Red and Blue. Bring it on!
  10. An update on Kirk from the Freo website: "Sydney premiership player BRETT KIRK joined the Fremantle Dockers as an assistant coach at the end of the 2012 season. Kirk worked with Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon and stoppages coach Mark Stone when both were at the Swans. Widely regarded as one of the most courageous and resilient players to have ever pulled on the boots, he played 241 games for Sydney since making his debut in 1999, including the last 200 without missing a match. Co-captain of the Swans from 2005-2010, Kirk is a highly decorated and respected figure, whose list of achievements include a 2005 AFL Premiership win, All-Australian selection in 2004 and Sydney best and fairest in 2005 and 2007. In 2011, he spent six months travelling the world and spreading the word about football as the AFL's International Ambassador. Kirk is responsible for Fremantle's midfield."
  11. How about Jack Riewoldt? Might be needing a change of scenery...
  12. Amazing how the team's ability to spread the load is allowing our talent to rise. Jones benefiting from Tyson, Vince, Viney and Cross. The total becoming greater than the sum of the parts.
  13. Those reviews are tough, no pulled punches. I reckon this was what Roos meant by the mid season Audit. Many are on notice that they have 13 rounds of footy to justify their place on the list for 2015. Interesting to see who rises to break into the team, especially given Hogan should be coming through in a month or two...
  14. Not wanting to be a wet blanket, but we're yet to come close to a top 9 team having only played two top 9 teams (Weagles and Swans), so we've had the easiest part of our easy draw, with the real tests to come as we play the top 8 teams over the second half of the year. Liking who Roos and the boys have done, but it's only a start and our stats ... wins from teams currently 16th, 13th, 10th. losses from team currently 15th 12th 9th and 3rd. improvement, but our early bad form and tough draw will require we keep improving rapidly to win more than 3 more games on the way home.
  15. All roads lead to Queens Birthday clash with the Pies... in three weeks.
  16. I'd like to see the stat for meters gained sideways... then we'd show em!
  17. You might be right about his development down back. I think like Blease, they are forwards who need to learn how to run both ways, play defensive, etc... Was named at HFF next to Gawn, so I'm hoping to see a step ladder moment...
  18. I like Howe up forward with Maxy and Kennedy-Harris at their feet. Have to be a defensive nightmare.
  19. Another thought on the "spin out of the way" option proposed y Gleeson, is that to spin, pivot or change direction radically, one needs to push up off the ground which would increase the likelihood of high contact as opposed to feet on ground, knees bent as Jack was... An a pirouette!!? gotta jump for that too.
  20. Love it - Viney to be named in team Go Jack.
  21. I'm surprised that no one has talked about how Lynch failed to stand up in the tackle, choosing instead to fold and fall into the path of the smaller Viney. Not to blame Lynch, just curious if players are trained to go to ground like that i.e. draw rear tackler into a push in the back decision... On the Bump / brace debate we are talking semantics. Jack "braced" sufficiently to be in the best position (balanced in the ball drop zone) to find the ball after the collision, as he should. His intent was on winning the ball from a contested ball situation as he is employed and paid to do.
