2022 Player Reviews: 41 Judd McVee
A solid year he is now a Casey Premiership player for life.

Welcome to Demonland Pick 37
Cal Twomey gets it right because he has got inside information from some clubs and distributes the information on the AFL web site the ones he gets wrong are clubs where they keep their picks close to the chest upseting the draft order. The MFC has basically fallen for the trap by telegraphing their first pick in 2019 being Holmes and Geelong swapped picks on the day, they should have lied or kept it a secret but loose lips sink ships. If I was Taylor I would give out wrong information to all concerned and then did what is best for the club.

2022 Trade Report Card
Unfortunately when a player is uncontracted then the club does not have the upper hand and has to accept less than they want for players and move on with other trades. Not many list managers have skills to do deals fast so they can get other deals done where the outcome is better. We did well with Brodie Grundy, Lachie Hunter and Josh Schache who are not out of their best window. In the end Pick 13 and 37 is good result for the club. Every one has lauded Geelong for getting Pick 7 but I don't believe they did so great with the personnel they got Tanner Bruhn 2 years in the system with most stats below-average, Ollie Henry 2 years in the system with most stats below-average and Jack Bowes 6 years in the system who played 5 games last year with most stats average and below-average for a middle of the table team and was on $800,000 per year, the premiers lost only Joel Selwood but are 1 year older the replacements they need in forward lines and rucks are older the midfield will depend on Dangerfield who has had injury riddled season lately where are the Cameron/Stengle/De Konig recruits of the previous years? Pick 7 may be a boom or a bust player since players rarely come to a club and perform straight away. Richmond on the other hand gained Jacob Hopper 7 years in the system with a injury riddled 2022 and Tim Taranto 6 years in the system with stats that are elite and above-averge, maybe they will have an injury free year for Martin and Pestia but they have no picks to speak of in the draft. Brisbane did well but some of the new recruits like Gunston who has a history of back troubles and Dunkley who threw a tantrum when he did not get enough midfield time the loss of McStay will only be known during the 2023 season, only time will tell. Collingwood have gained Daniel McStay, Tom Mitchell, Bobbie Hill and Billy Frampton, other than Mitchell none of the others have set the world on fire but I think the loss of Grundy is probably the worst decision they could have made, since Cameron and Cox are reasonable where as Grundy at his best is in AA class. Femantle may have sold the shop to get Jackson but got O'Meara for weets packets from Hawthorn, they also lost a forward and backup ruckman in Lobb, Acres, Tucker, Meek and Logue and have no picks in the draft until 30, Acres was given to Carlton for a future 3 round pick why? Sydney gained Francis from Essendon, did they improve?. I have watched football for over 70 years and I look forward to 2023 when the Demons get to raise the cup in the GF beating Richmond or Geelong.

Farewell Luke Jackson
He is now a former player who had great potential and played like he was gone in the later part of the season, coaches of your future club often talk you up and offer a great future like Buckley did with Howe but actual delivery is different. The fact is that players who have left the club for greener pastures starting with Rivers were chasing the ultimate goal with only Frawley actually achieving it because he went to a club which had a premiership team and only filled a hole which was created by Lake's retirement. Players who leave for more game time find they are now competing with other hopeful for the same spot so the need to perform since the players around them are either spuds or looking after their own spots. When you get a group of players like GWS they are good players but the teamwork element is lacking and the coach has to change the mindset of each individual to team first al la 2021 MFC, when the team is under pressure they relapse into the old habits and fall away al la 2022 MFC where they bombarded teams relying on luck not finesse.

Casey Demons Premiership Coach Mark Corrigan is off to Geelong
Remember a coach is only as good as the cattle he has at his disposal, Casey had good VFL/AFL players all year so the team had good structure.
-
Sydney Stack
Stack is one player who could be very good or a bust but he needs to get his head straight first and foremost

Saints Sack Ratten & Appoint Lyon as Coach
If Yze wants to be a senior coach this is not a team he should start with since they want results immediately and a premiership soon. The list is wishy washy hash of castoffs and hastily selected rejects, player are there for their retirement pay day. They got Hannebery who well past his use by date, Ryder who was in his twilight of his career who suffered lots of soft tissue injuries because they need him to play too many matches per season. Brad Hill was maybe near enough to being over the hill. Brad Crouch need a retirement home. These are some of the players they expected to create a premiership team.

Jake Aarts
I believe we will only consider delisted players to be put on the rookie list and I think we need ruck types and good tall project players since most midfield and small forward positions we have multiple players at this stage.

Welcome to Demonland Josh Schache
His highlights look good but every recruits highlights always look good to sell the product to the buyer. Hopefully he will be the player he was touted to be in the 2015 draft year? If he experts are correct talls take longer to mature and hit their peak around 25-26?

Do the Dees have the pieces to make another premiership tilt?
I will make a prediction watch Andy Moniz-Wakefield this year he will improve out of sight may become the next Farmer? I know he has shown very little but in one match towards the end of the year he had 18 disposals and took a mark Farmer would be proud-off.

Do the Dees have the pieces to make another premiership tilt?
I have always said that a club needs your top 15 players provided they are in the best 150 players in the AFL to play nearly all of the matches and with a bit of luck you can be premiers. The quality of the bottom 7 players make the team better so they need to improve. I look at the list and it has recruited 2 quality players who if they perform at their best we can be Grand Finalists. The 8 teams who look to be in the GF mix are Geelong, Brisbane, Richmond, Collingwood, Swans, Fremantle, Carlton and Melbourne. Injuries will play a big part in the end. Of the 8 teams Swans, Carlton and Fremantle have not improved their lists as much as the other 5. The outsiders like Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide need more luck with injuries due to their depth not being as good as the other 8.

Trade and Free Agency rumours
Overall a good trade period for the club the players in Hunter and Grundy costs no more than LJ and Hunt. Schache costs less than Weideman. Melksham and Hibberd will take a pay cut to stay on allowing the club to pay more for Rivers and Pickett when their contracts expire. The club now has picks 13 and 37 to find gems for 2023 and beyond. The 2023 picks are 1st X 2 2nd X 2 and has been touted as better than the current crop. The only area were we have little cover is the Ruck where we need at least another 2 players maybe the rookie list will be used like they did in the past with Jamar and others.

Please Explain
Fact the team has to promote Chandler off the Rookie List to the main List, Grundy is now on the main list. As it stands at the moment we have 2 spots on the main list to fill and 3 rookie spots. If Weideman is traded then they have 3 spots on the main list they may recruit a free agent to the main list and still only require 2 picks.

Farewell Pick 27
We have never used a second round pick only to get an AA player except Hibberd who became one at the MFC.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I think Grundy is an upgrade on LJ in the short term and what ever we offered LJ to stay must be nearly what we are paying BG, we now have salary cap room for KP next year and onwards.

Farewell Luke Jackson
We have lost a once in a generation player but we will only know whether Freo paid under or over in about 3 years time? His pay packet may cause headaches for him and Freo in the future?

2022 Player Reviews: #19 Fraser Rosman
Unfortunately Rosman did not stand a chance to become a AFL footballer, in the last 4 years of his life he played less than 35 games of which 24 were played at the MFC they tried him as a wingman which after watching 1 game I realised he was not a wingman then later they tried him as a backman which I suggested much earlier. His game improved but injuries put paid to his career, when you are a natural athlete and not a natural footballer you need lots of games and coaches who analyse his preformances to suggest ways to improve, our coaches at Casey are trying to show their wares but forget they are basically development coaches dressed up as head/assistant coaches.
-
Farewell Pick 27
The MFC has Chandler to Upgrade and Grundy to add to the main list, if they get good picks for Jackson, maybe losing Hunt, Bedford and Jackson along with the delist of Rosman there is only 2 spots left so they may not use picks other than 1st round and second round for Bedford therefore we are giving away picks we may not use.
- James Harmes off to Essendon?

Potential Father Son Prospect Noah Yze
People forget he is an underage player I remember when a young skinny Watts came to the club and the coach thru him under the bus.
