  1. I still think that this is poor planning get rid of 3 first round picks for 4 and 22 since every body said next years crop is better than this year. In 12 months players like Melksham and Hibberd will be past their use by date so we will have to fill 2 holes, Chandler will have to step up and Bailey Laurie will have to show signs that he is a good first round pick to retain their place in the squad.
  2. I cannot believe that pick 4 and 22 are worth 3 first round picks to pick 2 untried players with potential?
  3. Jimmy Toumpas was nowhere near as good as Nick Daicos in his U18 year and anybody who thinks so are disrespecting Nick Daicos.
  4. I look at parrallels between Luke Jackson and Jesse Hogan both played for the MFC, both won the Rising Star award, both went to Fremantle and both left to be closer to family and friends. Will he go the way that Jesse went or to stardom?
  5. Monday we will find out whether all this talk of pick 19 was true or not and who they wanted at pick 13. Trading on picks will be less interesting if nothing comes of it. Our selections have been kept very quiet by the club, in the past we leaked like there was no tomorrow. I have a feeling if Ed Allan is available at our pick he will be the one JT picks not Matthew Jefferson.
  6. Foster can also be a ruckman in the LJ mould but at this stage is a better forward than LJ was but not as good ruckman/midfielder.
  7. Gomer Pyle was a fictional character but boy could Jim Nabors sing. If Kyah could play football as good as Jim Nabors could sing we have a winner.
  8. Yes that maybe true but I know what it is like living in the shadow of your father and the expectation it placed upon me to succeed in his chosen sport which I rejected for that reason, it effected my mental health during my sporting years.
  9. Yes his upper body needs work but his legs look strong and not spindly, along with his kicking action looks good. Cox of Collingwood was a Category B rookie.
  10. Why compare a player to a current player unless you want to talk up that recruit to clubs. How many players compared to Cripps or Oliver will become as good as Cripps or Oliver or even better. With the pressure of expectation will cause that player mental harm by beating himself up at not becoming the great player he was expected to be. Player who had fathers who we great players often never reach the heights their fathers did just because they are always compared to them. Players like Jack Watts, Sam Weideman and Callum Brown had expectations of greatness only to fail because of the pressure they no longer enjoy their football career. There is an old saying 'if you love your job you'll never work a day in your life'.
  11. Phoenix Foster looks good in the highlights and maybe there at 37?
  12. I have looked at the analysis by Kevin Sheehan and found he compares players to current champions without them playing a game of AFL football. I have watched football from the early 1950's and have found that players who have been compared to great player have such great expectations on the potential that they either reach their potential or like Colin Sylvia find the pressure too much physically and mentally that they under perform. These so called experts should not do this, but talk about their foot skills, pace, agility, marking, endurance, goal kicking, awareness and handball skills so they know were they need to improve to make them into the player they need to become to play AFL football for a long time.
  13. Probably was recommended by Hannan
  14. If 3 umpires cannot get it right then adding another one will cause even more confusion, now it means players will have to be more vigilant not to run into an umpire by accident.
  15. There is no way any recruit is worth 3 first round picks without playing senior games in the AFL, you don't burn your picks on a player who may turn out to be Jimmy Toumpas.
  16. There is never a guarantee that a recruit will turn out to be a Clayton Oliver or a Colin Sylvia or a Luke Jackson or a Jack Watts or a Jack Trengrove or a Luke Molan or a Lucas Cook they were all high picks but some got there and others fell by the wayside for one reason or another. 2 high end draft picks may mean both work or only 1 makes it in Clayton draft we had 2 picks and one turned out a near bust had we recruited Curnow or Mckay we may have won the premiership in 2022 as well, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. I know we are better at recruiting now but JT picked Sam Weideman which I questioned at the time and 2021 we picked Bowey, Laurie and Rosman on limited exposure. Looking at his record it is very good but sometimes coaches have an input into the selection and help getting it wrong, the year Luke Molan was selected the recruiters wanted del Santo but coaches wanted a backman and again in hindsight this was wrong. In 2020 North picked Tom Powell and injury ruined his development, some times you cannot help bad luck.
  17. Don't panic as we have not done a deal and it is all conjecture at this stage and some clubs who have been approached may be embellishing the truth.
  18. I listened to Cal Twomey and he has no idea what is happening because trades cannot be completed before the 28th, it is all conjecture at this stage. He thinks pick 19 is the only one that may be available because the top end picks are not available to MFC.
  19. If they are trying to get Essendon's 4 then maybe the will swap 13, 37 and next year 1st rounder for 4 and 22?
  20. Just watched the highlights of Hewett and looks like a ready made recruit who has all the tools to become a good player in the near future, pace, good sense of awareness, size and has depth in his kicking. The only thing I hate is he played in Collingwood colours in the West.
  21. It is only a rumour which has not beeen substantiated by some facts. Sometimes a rumour is started by the owner of a pick to create a demand for that pick by a number clubs to get the best value. Other times a jounalist starts a rumour on a slow day to pump up the sales of information without a shred of fact.
  22. So do I but my pick is Andy Moniz-Wakefield we will see who is closer me or the jounalist?
  23. Harry Barrnet is a pentrating left footer and is relatively quick with a 2km time trial around 6:30 ish and 202 cm tall he maybe a better fit for a Brown clone?
  24. Sometimes players who look like they need lots of development only need a professional environment to become the player we hope they will become. At one stage Finn look like he was going to be a top 40 player why the drop off?
  25. The 2010 draft was compromised by the Gold Coast and the recruiters had not become as professional as they are today the lad looked good in his highlights but was a 1 trick pony basically bigger and stronger than his opponents, lacked mobility required for AFL.
