  1. Was down there 2 yrs ago for a holiday. I remember getting cherries on Bruny Island that were so big and juicy it was hard to believe they were cherries. Great cheeses on Bruny Is as well.
  2. Obviously said with tongue in cheek. If Rhino was fair, he'd still be a mod.
  3. The content of this thread typifies what a pathetic year it has been for Demon supporters. Let's hope 2014 provides some positive results and discussions.
  4. That's nice for the under 18s on this sight to read. Behave Jail Bird.
  5. No one will remember who each of you posters are least alone this bet in six years. That's because we will be celebrating our 2nd flag in a row......... Well, I can dream. Might even have a little wager with myself. If we win 2 in a row, I'll celebrate with a dozen bottles of a fantastic French champagne, and if we don't, I'll drown my sorrows in a bottle of single malt whiskey of my choosing at the time. Sounds like a win, win, to me.
  6. Nice off topic back track Bitty. However, I must confess to agreeing, I don't think Jones should be our next captain (but he might well end up as it). I honestly don't think he is a natural leader, he is more of an introvert. Yes he leads by doing, but in an ideal situation he would be one of many mids that lead by doing. That's where we are aiming. He's been seen as a leader largely because he's done more than others, as evidenced by his two B&Fs. I think Grimes and/or Garland should be captain, with Viney groomed to take over in about 3-4 yrs.
  7. Trisha Silvers appointed chief of St Kilda Youth Service Really top person by all accounts. Written a book about life after the tsunami 'Beyond the Wave'.
  8. It's all yet to be seen, but many draft watchers, including Emma Quale thought that this year's draft was thin after about 14, so maybe swapping 21 (or whatever it was) for a proven but somewhat erratic talent wasn't such a bad idea.
  9. Don't see much love for alcoholism or betting addiction on this thread Stuie.
  10. The word is that Hird and Essendon have, in fact, not signed a contract extension beyond 2014 and that in all likelihood Hird will never coach again. This might fit in with your comments about Bomber Thompson.
  11. Probably true bub. I do not disagree. My point being that the club supports the pokie industry by having them. At the moment we are hooked on them. I think I read on the club web site that our significant losses this year were tempered by the revenue made from our gaming venues. Would be nice to not need them so much. The mindset of saying that 'the licences exist so we might as well make the most of them' depends upon ones position on the practice of pokie use.
  12. Not sure I agree with the logic of 'somebody else will use them', Bub. It's one thing to know the dog has fleas, it's another to lie next to him willingly and catch them. While some on here have no problem with pokies and others detest them, I reckon it would be fair to say that most would like us not to be dependant upon them to keep afloat, which appears to be the case now. I was talking to a mad Norf supporting friend about this the other day and he mentioned they gave up their pokies to Etihad to pay off a debt. They now use their 'no pokies' position to create a marketing point of difference. Heavily involved in NGOs and community groups. Said that so far it is roughly covering what they would have made from them.
  13. Biggest, I'm surprised he didn't just stop in the intersection and park at the lights. No one has ever said no to JH, he has no boundaries to unacceptable behaviour.
  14. Not going to go down well here, but I'm also a North member for this very reason. Wish my club could give up the poke.
  15. They might all be above us next year. Bloody hope not.
  16. So you go for Biff's 'Jim & Phil's'? Good to see you back Bitty. Hope you behave.
  17. Had a few drinks tonatopia?
  18. The implication I got was that Work Cover didn't know where to start with this and didn't have the appropriate resources or experience to tackle such a case on their own. They wanted ASADA to do most of the work which they could then use as evidence in their pursuit. The person I spoke to made a point of saying that this was his view, not what he knew as fact.
  19. Didn't Knights take the bombers to the finals in his 2nd season? They love him at the Geelong VFL team. Took them to a VFL flag in 2012. Tough to make it work at Bomberland when you are an outsider. Any truth to the rumour that Essendon are moving their offices down Mt Alexander Rd into the Scientology HQ?
  20. MFCSS. No one knows if this will happen to Roos. PJ and Roos have shown nothing but positive influences on the club so far. I am going to enjoy the small progress made so far in the last couple of months. Then, mid season, we will have a clearer picture. Roos definitely has the runs on the board, and despite what you commented upon earlier Elwood, most of the AFL community thinks very highly of PJ and his history.
  21. Not wanting to sidetrack from the thread topic, but many Essendon fans believe Sheedy stayed one contract too many and that PJ did a good thing by getting rid of him. IMHO Knights was always pushing the proverbial up a hill simply because he was an outsider that rocked the boat a fair bit. Essendon has loved insiders for the better part of 30 yrs.
