5 sounds like a lot, but last year we needed about 10-12. Amongst other things, I think it is so important for us to find another 2-3 high quality midfielders as good as N Jones, Tyson and Vince. That may come from within (eg, Trenners, Toump, Salem) or it may equally come from trading. For the first time in many years, I believe Roos, Taylor and T Viney will make the right calls on trades and drafting.

I didn't realise big Max could take a decent mark. Those arms like giant testicles (apologies to Jack Dyer) pulled in a few really good grabs yesterday. One on the half back flank in the last qtr that stopped a Rich forward play was great. I had just become conditioned to our rucks not taking big, critical marks over the last 7 years. Didn't know this was a feature of Max's game. Good on him.

Yes agree. In play and particularly under pressure he's not good, it's still a raffle as to whether it will hit the target. TMac frightens me more, as does Terlich. Great endeavour and can't fault their hardness at the ball, just disposal regularly let's them down. However, Bail's set shot are pretty damn good at the moment. These guys are working on it and getting better. I recall Jones was not a great kick in his first few seasons, now very reliable under pressure or at goal.

I don't have a fascination with him goodoil, however he has played a few good games so far, got a decent build and is very young still. Had a rising star nomination last year, not that that means a lot. He's also played a few very average games where he's looked out of his depth. On the whole I like the look of his potential and though he might've gone at pick 5 or 6 in the draft instead of 18. Probably not good to be the no 1 ruck in second year.
