I said the past few years if one had bothered to read what I have been saying and 2 in the words of RDB perfect practice, makes perfect.

Been saying that for the last few years, and it's going to take time and a lot of mistakes but it will click just need time and practice.

JVR when the ball comes in harder has cricketers hands when they catch a high ball elbows bent towards the body and palms bent skywards, when it comes in soft he's alright.

It won't be scorched earth as you say you will still have to win the ball but it's the mentally side of things that will change that will dictate the gameplan, tying Windsor off the backline is one thing at practice and maybe he's training with the backline to learn the defensive side of the game and learning how they are being set-up under Bassett guess we will have to wait and see.

If it's not different it's going to be a difficult season then, teams are now trying to be more attacking with dare and run, down the line football is past it's use by date.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 11 December 2024
This is going to take time as they are going from a completely different game plan that has been instilled into them for years to a skilled based running gameplan so there will be problems and errors and people are going to have to expect this until they master it, all I hope when things don't work out they revert back into the old style of playing. Still there is plenty of time to bed it down.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 11 December 2024
Well hopefully the turnovers will drop with improvements by more skills based programmes being practised, turnovers will always be part of the game but it's the simple ones we need to eliminate.

To put it bluntly playing at Casey last year he ran more kilometres than the Leyland brothers on a trip around Australia running from the forward to the backline and back no wonder Casey struggled in games, the kids got great aggression and a football brain I hope Chaplin can get him to the next level.

Jason Dunstall was also a leading forward type player.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 9th December 2024
Thanks, there will quite a few times in a game where bombing it in is the only option but as long as the small forwards are front and centre or back of the pack and centre that's pleasing.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 9th December 2024
Do they practice much with a completely crowded forward line, and how is it working out if they do?
-
Forward line fix?
There is an art to forward craft that's takes a while to learn, but from what's reported Chaplin is working well and with a gameplan change it will make his job easier, I have advocated for a seasoned coach so give him a chance.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Saturday 7th December 2024
The gameplan will be the key to the puzzle and if they hold their nerve with it.
-
PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 6th December 2024
Well, if Windsor did play play off, H/B May and co. need to get the ball back in a lot quicker than they have been in the past and know where he is instantly.
-
PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 6th December 2024

20 minutes ago, von said: I think they have pretty well-defined roles, especially within our powerhouse, all-team defensive structure that has been the industry standard for years. I imagine it depends on the team we are playing and the game's state, and I also imagine each midfielder has different instructions regarding such things. It seems to me that even when we are in an all-out attack, there is a lot of structure and discipline around remaining defensively sound and in the correct formation. "Defense first" has been a team mantra for many years. Yes, I agree. What I was saying is that Oliver has some deficiencies and could be a more dangerous player if he moved forward as a midfielder more often when the opportunities arise. The game plan we played certainly didn't help that, but you made some good points; a pity the conversation got derailed in the first place.
