  1. For three quarters, the Saints played our style of game, and in the last quarter, they played their game of switching the play to Hill and then running. We just played an all-in game at contests and allowed free players to move the ball at will, and not one coach tried to combat it by making sure their players were covered. It is just poor coaching, full stop. The finish was even more comical; to allow a player at the center bounce to run free into the forward line unopposed is just head-shaking. I have not really supported sacking Goodwin, but I think it’s time for a change of direction. We have not progressed any young forwards, and if the truth be known, we have butchered their progress. We have had the same problem with a one-paced, lack-of-skills midfield for the last three years, and Oliver showed that yesterday with no composure, just banging it on the boot without looking. As for Petty, he has shown better form as a lead-up forward but has been ineffective as a pack-mark forward. JVR’s hand position has not been fixed and is not a pack-mark forward either, but that’s down to coaching. And what will team selection be next week? Same players come back in; same players go out. Now is the time to try something different with the midfield: rest Viney and Oliver, and play Trac as a forward only. Just damn well try something different.
  2. I tried but the same [censored] over and over again.
  3. Now rarelyI agree with this grub but he's right...
  4. I have it on good authority they are still loading for pre season training.
  5. Well the good news is tomorrow is soccer practice day so everyone should feel warm and fuzzy at training.
  6. I hear you brother I hear you.
  7. Umpire called play on the saints player was standing next to his opponent at the time.
  8. Question to those who suggested we were loading has anyone told the football dept to stop yet?
  9. When you look at it May's original position was to take the ball in a chesk mark position but instead of the ball bouncing forward it bounced up when the blues player had it May's arm were still in a chest marking position even through the contact if he gets rubbed out for this then players might as well wear tutu's.
  10. One of the things I like in a player first is their thirst for the contest when it's their turn to go, but I have seen some signs in Jefferson that with the right coaching and game plan he might just make it. I know he made some mistakes last night, but there is a glimpse of light. I was also impressed with Fritta as he was prepared to make contact and run during the night. If he keeps playing like that for the last five games, he's a keeper.
  11. Kentfield takes no [censored] loves crashing a pack and hurting players, if they can only develop properly he could be a hugh asset.
  12. Post of the week.
  13. Totally agree I have said it on this site since 22 you could see it pan out but they just played the same way with the same problems but posters kept saying we are all good, well it's bitten us in the butt.
  14. Ouch....
  15. So you want to compare our list with North's then and you think it's comparable, and then let's compare the the two clubs then shall we, from when clarkson got there and Goodwin from 22 it's been downhill since.

  17. Just now, bing181 said:   How's mega-coach Alistair Clarkson going at North in his third year? North was a basket case until he got there. he has a bunch of kids that are going to take time to develop, but there are signs, unlike us, a premiership in 21, and are going backward at a speed of knots.
  18. So, the umpires are to blame for a poorly skilled side by hand and foot; a side that struggles with football nous and a game plan that's not working. But it's the umpires' fault, they make fewer mistakes than players. It's time to drop Salem, revamp the midfield, and persist with it for the last five games. As for Jefferson, yes, he had some bad moments, but give him the last five games to confirm whether he can make it. In the end, this club needs to make some serious decisions at season's end, and it must take the hard decisions to fix it.
  19. No it isn't.
  20. I understand the support for Oliver, and he is still one of the best below-the-knees footballers since Greg Williams, but he is a limited footballer with average kicking skills and is not a great decision-maker when the game is not contested, like we played in 2021. Today's game has exposed him for that. Could he be more dangerous playing with another coach or club? Possibly, but the fact is, as I have always said, we have a one-paced, poorly skilled midfield, and until we address that, we will struggle to compete for the flag again. If the club thinks he needs to move on, I'm not against it. The same goes for Viney.
  21. And people said that about Jones doesn't always work out.
  22. Well it's a win but against a side that is young and along with us have a lack of skills and clearness with the ball, the pleasing thing for me from this game was Jefferson where I didn't see much in the past was his preparedness to initiate body contact but today we saw some and he was also good on the lead which could be beneficial for him moving forward. As for Tristan Xerri, while he will be suspended, it was not an intentional act, full stop. We are well behind with skills pace and gameplan compared to the top sides but let's hope the last 6 games are competitive.
  23. If only we had changed after 22...
  24. Yeah because Dacios has such big body for a midfielder...
