From my chosen 22 at the start of the year the powers that be have brought in Dunn, M. Jones, Bail, Gawn, Jetta, Pedersen, Jamar, Salem and JKH. That is only nine I got wrong (although in fairness Hogan and Trengove are injured). I have been most surprised (read impressed) by M. Jones, Jetta and Jamar. Of those, easily the largest hunk of pie is consumed has Neville Jetta's name on it. He has been magnificent since elevation and looks a settled part of the team

It does put in some perspective how tiny Jay K-H is. That in turn highlights how spectacularly he has done and the need to bring him along carefully for a year or two.

It was a round for the VFL management to dream of. Not only were the Dees/Dogs and Hawks/Cats games vital but the final make up of the final five relied on a game at the "G" between Carlton and North. I still remember the joy on the train trip home from the Western Oval and getting off at Flinders Street to watch the end of the Blues Roos game with a few more frothies. It may have been a replay as to why it was so late but I certainly dont remember the final trip home. On another tack, no wonder Demonland is dying if 90% of us are old enough to have been at the game that day.

We were behind the Melbourne goals for that Doggies game listening to the game from, I think, Kardinia Park (as it then was) as Hawthorn had to win for Melbourne to make the final five. Dunstall kicked a goal to put the Hawks in front with moments to go. There was a Huge roar at Western Oval and Robbie Flower, who was just in front of us, started walking off thinking the game had finished. I remember attending training at the Junction Oval with what seemed like thousands. Northey was fantastic in encouraging the team to lap up the finals feeling and making us all feel part of the event.

The great thing to me yesterday was that Richmond got within a goal twice in the last quarter and there was no suggestion of going into our shell. Some of the best footy was played while the pressure was on. Vince was just brilliant in the last quarter (along with Jones N, Watts and Cross). Not once last year did my wife allow me to invoke the 10 goal rule (leave when that far behind). Not an issue this year (except Eagle game which I didn't see) I thought the year couldn't get any better than Carlton and Crows away. Now I am dreaming of the QBweekend.

Just seen the replay of the last quarter for the first time. I hadn't realised during the game that Vince had contested one center hit out. At least there is now one thing that I think Sylvia was better than him at.

I await the inevitable Demonland reaction, the transition to "stroke of genius by Todd Viney" from "another wasted Neeld selection"

Why is it that Melbourne players are represented by Iain Finlay (players advocate) at the Tribunal? Collingwood always roll out a (QC) and have spectacular results. Having been involved in a Tribunal with Mr. Finlay before and having seen a bit of senior barristers at work, I am astonished that Melbourne would not involve themselves with the best possible representation. That, with respect, is not Mr. Finlay.

Any number of Demonland posters appear desperate to have him on our list. Just the sort of leadership we need to help build the team.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Bimbo replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have an idea that he was about the club in the same manner that Jack Viney was around Melbourne i.e. father son with permission of the AFL. If so, one can only hope that they may have left the kid alone. -
And is not the bowler he was

St. Kilda v Melbourne - Match Preview & Team Selection
Bimbo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just after I have wasted a lazy half hour at work trying to work out the same thing. It is also relevant that each side has 6 players who have played at least 100 games. However, 3 at Melbourne (Cross - total 210, Vince - total 129 and Byrnes - total 125) played most of theirs elsewhere. They are also 30, 28 and 29 (with two having birthday in the next couple of weeks. On the other hand, Riewoldt has played 259 games. We are again younger and less experienced. -
Only saw the last half but was impressed with Spencer. Very pleased with his attitude when Toumpas (like last game with Dustin Martin). I know it will be unpopular to even suggest it, but Nicholson played well on Bartell. If Bartel was not hit on the chest by M. Jones when Bartel was running inside 50, his game would have looked better. His disposal was not atrocious. No reason for the Toumpas haters on what I saw. Importatnly showed real courage taking a mark after having been belted in the head earlier. Dunn looked very comfortable. REmarkably, even the kick-ins afer points were well organised Plenty to look forward to.

What are your feelings towards each opposition club?
Bimbo replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
My views on certain teams and their supporters are so strong that I cannot envisage why everyone does not feel the same way. I loathe Carlton. I loathe their supporters. I loathe their players and their administration. I loathe Essendon. The only bad thing about the drugs saga is that it is not Carlton in the gun. I loathe GWS. I independently loathe Kevin Sheedy. Appointing him as our coach would have been the only thing I can think of that would have made me only a very keen supporter instead of the loser I am. (I actually really liked Leon Cameron as a player and would wish him success with any other team (except Carlton or Essendon) I hate Hawthorn supporters. I know too many of them. I dont like North Melbourne. Never have. I have always liked Geelong. They have played some of the most spectacular football of recent times and I am an old Western District boy. I quite like Sydney. They were great entertainment on Sundays in early VFL direct telecasts. I dont mind Freo or Port. Probably an underdog thing (and Port took the biggest GF losing margin as previously suggested) I dont mind Gold Coast. I always thought Ablett going to appear average. He has been spectacular. They are also good to watch (often) I am really ambivalent to the rest except when playing Melbourne. -

And remembering the other problem - Nicholson kicked better then both of them!

Many thanks for the reports. It makes the work day go much quicker How did Dom Tyson train? How was Tapscott in the main group? Did he do the whole session?

How much football have Demonland members played?

I always thought they gave him one game a year so he could go on World of Sport kicking competition. I still miss the reserves -

Made my debut in under 13's country team at the age of 7. Got my first kick a couple of years later. Reached a peak in Western Border U. 18's team (which included Billy Picken) who played Collingwood U. 19's at Victoria Park. Many years of Ammo's after that and now enjoy watching a son play amateurs and a beer after the game. -
I thought he was really starting to cement his place when he broke his leg against Carlton a couple of years ago. He actually was starting to look like he belonged. Unfortunately since then injuries have prevented us from seeing what he may have. The club has probably spent more on his medical bills than his salary. Still contracted next year. Whatever it is, it should be a fairly simple choice then whether to keep or delist.
