DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 18
Good Times Grimes replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's also a reflection on our season that he leads the voting by more than 100. Jones has truly carried this team on his shoulders and I think he deserves whatever he asks for when he's at the contract table. Another sad thing about these standings is that the person in second place (Mitch Clark) has missed a third of the season. This is a real indicator that the majority of our players aren't pulling their weight. -
DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 18

6. Jones- We know what to expect with this guy. I don't even want to think about how bad we would be without him. 5. McDonald- Will be an AA one day. 4. Nicholson- Getting better by the game, and his disposal is improving. 3. Green- 3 goals in his 250th... deserves some votes in my book. 2. Howe- Great first half but faded out of it in the 2nd. Nice mark at the end. 1. Rivers- Not his best game, but I can't think of anyone else who deserves this final vote. -
LOL! Sam Gibson: "We knew we needed to be hard and strong at the contest because that's what Melbourne bring every week." I don't know if he's watched any Melbourne games this season...

He's also great at being a late withdrawl.

Whenever Bail has the ball inside 50 you just know that a behind is coming.

Who should he start with? Harvey?

Sellar's been stiff twice today with deliberate OOB.

I'm more into the team sports than the individual ones, but I'll really watch whatever's on. I find the triathlon very interesting to watch and I'm in complete awe of all the athletes who compete in it. Does anybody have an explanation as to why there hasn't been a whole lot of talk surrounding Michael Phelps this time around? He set all kinds of records in Beijing, but barely seems to be getting any coverage at the moment. I'm aware that he is 4 years older and may no longer be in his prime, but surely someone who wins 8 gold medals in a single Olympics doesn't fade into obscurity that quickly.

Would you Let Jack Viney go to GWS!

Thanks for clarifying, rpfc. -
Would you Let Jack Viney go to GWS!
Good Times Grimes replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have a question (that may seem silly, but I just want to clarify) re: the father/son bidding: Can a team bid on more than one player? For example could one of GWS/GC bid on both Jack Viney AND Joe Daniher? From what has been reported by many, Daniher would be a potential #1 pick if he weren't already linked to Essendon as a F/S. Surely GWS and GC would have him in their sites? If they can only bid on one, the only reason that I can see for them bidding on JV over Daniher would be that they assume that someone who finishes above Melbourne but below Essendon will bid on him, which will force the Bombers to take him with a first rounder rather than a second. -

Players that are not Cloke

Most reports I've read indicate that if Tippett were to leave the Crows it would be to go to Queensland (preferably Brisbane but possibly GCS). If we could lure him to Melbourne though, I'm all for it. -
Rick Nash to the New York Rangers! Columbus is now even further from getting off the bottom of the Western Conference...

That's upwards of $4200 a touch.

Now it's time for the serious question
Good Times Grimes replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
I disagree. Round 1 against Brisbane was one of the worst performances I have seen a team put in. Follow that up with the big loss to West Coast and we were looking like a real wooden spoon possibility. Over the last couple of months we have seen some improvements from certain players and have seen an overall improved effort than what we were seeing at the start of the year. This weekend's game was a setback, but I do think we are better of than we were at the beginning of 2012. *This is by no means saying that I have faith in the direction we are headed, or that I am happy with where we are at the moment. All I am saying is that Current Demons > Start of Season Demons. -
To me it looked similar to the incident that injured Sylvia's back in the preseason. I can't understand why Ziebell gets 4 weeks and Butcher got none.

+1. Martin is more than competent and Spencer/Fitz deserve a shot to prove themselves.

Yep, it's awesome. It's great not having threads posted every week about how he's a dud.

The list - who goes at the end of the year?
Good Times Grimes replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
This thread is actually from a couple of weeks ago after we got pumped by the Lions. I do agree with your points though...I've never been a fan of watching Ross Lyon's team's play; I'm very happy that we didn't get him. -
I really feel for Michael Evans. He seems to have the goods but just can't stay healthy. I really hope that Watts and Tappy will pull up good to go for this weekend. We really missed JW against the Dockers.

Cam Bruce # 32 announces retirement from AFL.
Good Times Grimes replied to gsmith12's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for the memories Cam... -
I also like the idea of making a play for Beams. I think he might be cheaper than Boak, and his tattoos would also fit in nicely with Jones, Clark, and (should he choose to remain a Demon) Moloney.

The MFC 'B-side' in the AFL competition
Good Times Grimes replied to Curry & Beer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought the same thing last year. And the year before. Players will always be struck down with injuries, it's part of the game. -
Bennell Gone For The Year
Good Times Grimes replied to Grandson of a gun's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hope he recovers quickly. I don't think we'll see him in a red and blue jumper again. -
Very unlucky today. The result will not reflect the effort that was put in.
