  1. Agreed. We're not going to start getting a good fixture with Friday night blockbusters until we are good enough to have earned it. The fixture is designed to maximize revenue for the AFL, and currently we are not a team that will do that. As a result we'll get a lot of Sunday afternoon and twilight home games against interstate sides.
  2. As much as I'd like to have Toumpas, I highly doubt there was a deal done between Melb/GWS to let him slide. Otherwise they would have taken pick 4 instead of pick 3, IMO.
  3. You and every single media outlet in the country.
  4. I've always been a fan of the nickname "The Master" (Matthew Bate)
  5. I'm always happy to see a good player quit the Hawks. On the other hand, I hate seeing good players join the filth. It's hard hating so many other clubs...
  6. I liked the look of the American athlete Eric Wallace. I don't really see a downside to signing a player like him.
  7. Neeld said they checked out his knee and everything is good to go.
  8. I wonder if Juice would get a run with the forum footy team.
  9. Agree with the OP, I was a huge fan of Peter Walsh. I haven't been around long enough to have seen some of the names mentioned in this thread, but from who I've seen I love(d) watching Carroll, Ingerson, Frawley...there's a lot of good ones to pick from.
  10. If you count Morton as a mid, he's had shoulder surgery and will be on a modified program until Christmas.
  11. Thank you kindly. Does this happen whenever a player who is contracted is traded? If so it is different to all the major North American leagues.
  12. Don't joke, we all know that anyone who lied to Jim Stynes' face doesn't have a heart.
  13. A question regarding Dawes' contract: Did the trade nullify the contract that he was previously on with Collingwood, and as such did he sign a brand new contract with us? Or will he get the terms that were in his Collingwood contract from the MFC for 2013, and then have a new contract extension that will begin when his Collingwood contract expires? I know the wording of that question is awkward, but I think it's easy enough to understand...
  14. My thoughts exactly, OD. I really hope he gets a new contract, but like RPFC, I feel he may be a casualty of Dawes and (probably) Pedersen coming into the team.
  15. 3 if you include Hogan. I'm really happy with what Neeld & Co have done in the past couple of weeks. Only up from here.
  16. Who do you think we would ship Martin off to, then? He is contracted for another season, so he would have to agree to the trade. I believe he is studying a combined science/law degree at Melbourne, so I don't think he will want to move interstate. That limits the options.
  17. I'm not so sure that Martin will be leaving, especially since he wasn't included in the Dawes trade. I wouldn't be disappointed if he stays, because if Jamar goes down, I think he's the only person on our list that at this stage is capable of handling #1 ruck duties. I couldn't care less about Gysberts and Petterd...it would be nice to get something in return for them, but if no one bites, delisting them is better than carrying passengers into 2013.
  18. I believe people are referring to a compo pick that will be dished out to us to compensate for the loss of Moloney and the likely loss of Rivers.
  19. I really don't think there's much to add to what I said. At this stage, Toumpas is not better than Wines + Sylvia. While it's likely that GWS will take Toumpas in the top 3, there is a chance that he could slide to our pick anyway. Regardless, I'm happy with Wines and Sylvia.
  20. I hope a lot longer than that, Chippy!
  21. He's studying a law degree at Melbourne and doesn't want to move interstate. I would be incredibly surprised if he went up to GW$ (who are now apparently trying to lure Tippett as well). I'd be happy with Stringer, but I don't think he'll be available at 20. We'll need to make some trades to move up in the draft if we want him.
  22. Apparently Port Adelaide is considering inviting him to pre-season training. Where does this leave us? Do we continue to help him? Or do we leave him in Port's hands?
