  1. I was about 10 when Robbie started with us. He was easily (and I mean easily) the best player we had for the next decade. In some ways I sort of barracked for Robbie and whatever rabble donned the Melbourne jumper as his team mates It was a sad day when he retired
  2. Bottled water would never catch on. Why would you buy something you can get for free from a tap? Smart phones? Just a gimmick Cale Morton will be a taller version of Robbie Flower
  3. NowWeKnow I once said that Cale Morton reminded me of a taller version of Robbie Flower. That was a few years ago and I'm still washing my mouth with out soap
  4. I reckon Mark Neeld may agree with you
  5. Was hoping Jared would stay but wish him well at the Cats
  6. The world was a better place with the ball in his hands. Even though he wasn't particularly quick he could still find a way out when surrounded by opposition players. He had that extra time thing the really good ones have. Tough too
  7. Agree with this, although I would only want to trade Morton but what is the point as he has little trade value If we trade Gys we would not get a lot and it may well come back to haunt us I want to keep Martin, particularly after the rule changes but he is the only one of the 3 with value
  8. It does seem a strange move by Collingwood. I would rate Lynch and Dawes on par as forwards but Q won't get any better at 29yo whereas Dawes should be entering his best 4 or 5 years. Lynch's ruck work isn't worth the difference
  9. I'm for keeping him. Hopefully he has pulled his head in if that was the problem. Unlike Buckley, Cheney, Johnson, Bruce and that other bloke who have left our shores for other destinations and had minimal success, Gysberts has the ability to be a very good 10 year player elsewhere
  10. It is going to be Land of the Giants down at the Demons. Almost a third of the list are 193cm + (6' 4" in the old) Gawn 208, Spence 203, Fitz & Clark 200, Martyn & Jamar 198, Watts & Sellar 196, Hogan 195, McDonald 194, Frawley, Dawes and maybe Pederson all 193. Another 8 are b/n 190 - 192cm. Now if they could all learn how to use that collective beef bruise free footy would be a thing of the past
  11. Surely picks 4 and 20 are being kept for mids
  12. And Stewart Loewe was a lousy mark, Brett kirk needs to get in touch with his spiritual side and Peter Slipper is a fit and proper person to hold the role of Speaker of the House of Reps This is fun
  13. If, and it is a big if, he gets through a Neeld/Misson preseason fit, healthy and with his head in the right place he could be a great addition to the team. He may pick up a yard and his kicking skills are still sublime
  14. If he was leaving to play finals as reported and the Cats are offering reasonable terms then there should not be too much to think about. Maybe he will stay after all. I hope he does
  15. I can't see the Hogan deal happening. The younger the player the more difficult it is to know how they will end up. A 17 year old interstate man/boy with a far from textbook kicking action who monsters smaller kids is speculative in the extreme We need quality mids. Lots of them
  16. Yes, I understand that I'm probably in the minority here
  17. We have no idea what is being said behind closed doors. If it was reported that Jack said he won't go to any other club bar Melbourne, that he would leave the moment his first 2 year contract was up it may pump the chests of us supporters but may get the AFL to add a draft tampering inquiry to the tanking inquiry Who knows perhaps we are actually playing this very well
  18. I would prefer to keep Martin. Dawes is in the Brad Miller mould of a good, average footballer. Martin could be better
  19. The good news is that with Viney saying that he will make the Dees pay if we don't pick him at 3 you can discount any allegations of draft tampering.
  20. That is a fair APS footy side. Assume they went through the season undefeated?
  21. Doesn't make sense to me. All players wear the GPS trackers during matches so why can't they use the same ones during training? As someone else mentioned there are no running costs as such What am I missing here?
  22. Essendon maybe and even then if teams are wearing different shorts it shouldn't be an issue. It is not as if they play on quagmire grounds of the 70's these days. I don't get why the AFL insists on the alternate jumper every other week. It should only be worn as a last resort. We are the 'red and the blue' not white or silver or god forbid (with apologies to the OP) green
  23. Great shame. From a complete outsiders perspective he got the best out of the Casey players and also worked well with the current Melbourne coaching staff. It can't be an easy gig to coach your own team to the top of the ladder whilst also having to work with a dominant partner whose interests may not coincide with your own Brett (we used to call him "Dontcha" which seemed clever at the time) is one of my all time favourite players. If he had the inclination also believe that he would make an excellent assistant at AFL level
  24. Has he lost Jack Grimes or Jack Trengove? Mitch Clark? Colin Garland? Colin Sylvia? Sam Blease? Mark Jamar signed a 3 years contract half way through the year so you would think he is on board. Jeremy Howe signed too. Spose Neeld has lost him too Don't understand the vitriol
  25. Hope you are right, we could do with a James Hird or two or three As you know Jordan and, as you say, he has no problems buying in then lets hope he stays a Demon
