  1. I would prefer to keep Martin. Dawes is in the Brad Miller mould of a good, average footballer. Martin could be better
  2. The good news is that with Viney saying that he will make the Dees pay if we don't pick him at 3 you can discount any allegations of draft tampering.
  3. That is a fair APS footy side. Assume they went through the season undefeated?
  4. Doesn't make sense to me. All players wear the GPS trackers during matches so why can't they use the same ones during training? As someone else mentioned there are no running costs as such What am I missing here?
  5. Essendon maybe and even then if teams are wearing different shorts it shouldn't be an issue. It is not as if they play on quagmire grounds of the 70's these days. I don't get why the AFL insists on the alternate jumper every other week. It should only be worn as a last resort. We are the 'red and the blue' not white or silver or god forbid (with apologies to the OP) green
  6. Great shame. From a complete outsiders perspective he got the best out of the Casey players and also worked well with the current Melbourne coaching staff. It can't be an easy gig to coach your own team to the top of the ladder whilst also having to work with a dominant partner whose interests may not coincide with your own Brett (we used to call him "Dontcha" which seemed clever at the time) is one of my all time favourite players. If he had the inclination also believe that he would make an excellent assistant at AFL level
  7. Has he lost Jack Grimes or Jack Trengove? Mitch Clark? Colin Garland? Colin Sylvia? Sam Blease? Mark Jamar signed a 3 years contract half way through the year so you would think he is on board. Jeremy Howe signed too. Spose Neeld has lost him too Don't understand the vitriol
  8. Hope you are right, we could do with a James Hird or two or three As you know Jordan and, as you say, he has no problems buying in then lets hope he stays a Demon
  9. Blease probably didn't have a 'good relationship' with the Neeld if he wasn't fully embracing the new program. Trying to build one now. As Oucher said they don't have to be friends but the players need to respect the coach which I imagine is part of the buying in process Neeld is the answer.
  10. Wish I had thought of this. Could also teach a few how to run from half back on the G, bounce 4 or 5 times and kick goal of the year
  11. Great article wmth. Sums up our situation perfectly. It will be an interesting few months coming up for both players and supporters
  12. Gaz was only very early in his career and I remember thinking that he could be replaced. In retrospect he could have been the difference Also Tim Lane after either the North or Swans match asking "who's going to stop the Dees" Unfortunately we found out, but it was a wonderful, beautiful, exhilarating time to be a Melbourne supporter. Those few weeks are why I am still passionate today. Sad but true
  13. Yep, reckon Neeld would rate his competitiveness. Also didn't Jordie win the coaches award 2 years running? If only you could have the good bits from Jordie and Watts and put them in one player Having said that I'm a McKenzie fan but then I also liked Godders
  14. And i think we have a winner. Way too good
  15. No doubt GNF we have watched the same games, watched the same Neeld interviews and yet have so completely different views of the man. I think Neeld is the best signing since Norm Smith
  16. It would be a very Melbourne thing to pull a surprise win when needed least, but then have a look at our game last week and another at our injury list and you'll relax. Although I would like to see Blease at the centre bounce, Magner in the goal square and Spencer on the wing
  17. This is how I feel as well. Would prefer Dunn over Bate
  18. You are a Machiavellian lot. GWS and GC will only nominate him if they rate him in the top few players. This is good news for us. A professional club will not play silly buggers with pick 2 in the draft. If the roles were reversed would you want Melbourne to bid pick 2 on a player they only rated internally as pick 8? Todd and Jack will have a good idea where Jack is in the pecking order and no doubt the club recruiters have conveyed their thoughts. i have no idea where various clubs rate Jack but if we have to use pick 3 on him it will be because he is worth pick 3.
  19. I reckon you've nailed it Deemon. He is playing with no confidence. His position in the leadership group has changed, his role in the midfield has lessened and he is playing as a HFF where he has probably never been asked to play. If he gets it together I can see him slotting goals from 50m and clearing a path in congestion for others. He could be valuable with his strength and experience. That's perhaps why Neeld is giving him lots of time I have no idea if he will adapt but if he does there is significant upside I think most here have been fairly harsh on Brent
  20. Just when things were looking up Perhaps we are getting all the bad luck out of the way. This year is a right off anyway As stated above it is a good opportunity to blood some youngsters Who knows, someone may come through and surprise all Here's hoping
  21. Guessing they won't change a winning formula too much Out; Clark (inj) in; Martin
  22. Yep, in some ways that kick reassured me that all will be OK with Jack. In past years it would have gone through post high. A 20yo doesn't lose speed, or talent, or kicking distance. Something is definately not right with him He will come out the other side a better player. It must be frustrating for him
  23. Agree. Matthew Whelan would have been handy today
  24. A 44 point loss I would have taken in a heartbeat when it was 4 - 56. Almost respectable and a fair reflection of where both teams are at. Watts took a backward step today Sad to see Greens kicking for goal Love Jones
  25. Franklin - Would love to see him make magic in a Demon jumper Pendles - Competition for Dunn for stupid facial hair Selwood - Is brilliant, tough and inspirational and I wouldn't get grumpy every time he manufactured an over the shoulder tackle on himself
