I don't know about the benefits of training in humidity but it will certainly be tough. I live in Far Nth Qld where early December days are generally 32 degrees and high 70s humidity. Darwin at the same time is a couple of degrees warmer and way more humid. It will be a wet oven

Be fair! They are at least A grade tossers

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN
FarNorthernD replied to Demon Head's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree with this. Would rather the FD back one of our kids rather than a bloke who we are unlikely, given age and injury history, get more than 15 games out of. I can only assume that Rodan is an exceptional trainer and leader who will be an enthusiastic participant in the culture change at the club As he has been let go at 2 clubs, the last being more of a cot case that us, you kind of doubt it -
Three players who you expect a BIG 2013 from ...
FarNorthernD replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
Sylvia!!. I (like most here) have predicted a breakout season for Col every year since he started. Got to get it right eventually. Using similar reasoning I also pick the same lotto numbers each week Watts. Please, just to shut the media naysayers up for a while Taggert. In the unlikely event that Sylvia doesn't step up, Taggert could be the next big thing -
And we all thought Scully was unpopular with the crowd at the G this year. The reaction of the Adelaide supporters when Tippett plays there next year will be truly something to behold

Wonder who thought that jumper was a good idea -
Latest murmurings of a crazy time
FarNorthernD replied to Tolstoys Nudge's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have faith in the FD but DemonWA is right. Gysberts for Prismall is just plain dumb. Lets hope it is just a rumour -
Yep, I reckon Colin will have his breakout year in 2013 Strangely I am even more confident about this than past years, and I was quite confident then too

I was about 10 when Robbie started with us. He was easily (and I mean easily) the best player we had for the next decade. In some ways I sort of barracked for Robbie and whatever rabble donned the Melbourne jumper as his team mates It was a sad day when he retired

Bottled water would never catch on. Why would you buy something you can get for free from a tap? Smart phones? Just a gimmick Cale Morton will be a taller version of Robbie Flower
-
NowWeKnow I once said that Cale Morton reminded me of a taller version of Robbie Flower. That was a few years ago and I'm still washing my mouth with out soap

I reckon Mark Neeld may agree with you

Was hoping Jared would stay but wish him well at the Cats

All time Favorite Backmen at MFC
FarNorthernD replied to Red N Blue Society's topic in Melbourne Demons
The world was a better place with the ball in his hands. Even though he wasn't particularly quick he could still find a way out when surrounded by opposition players. He had that extra time thing the really good ones have. Tough too -
Agree with this, although I would only want to trade Morton but what is the point as he has little trade value If we trade Gys we would not get a lot and it may well come back to haunt us I want to keep Martin, particularly after the rule changes but he is the only one of the 3 with value

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
FarNorthernD replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
It does seem a strange move by Collingwood. I would rate Lynch and Dawes on par as forwards but Q won't get any better at 29yo whereas Dawes should be entering his best 4 or 5 years. Lynch's ruck work isn't worth the difference -
I'm for keeping him. Hopefully he has pulled his head in if that was the problem. Unlike Buckley, Cheney, Johnson, Bruce and that other bloke who have left our shores for other destinations and had minimal success, Gysberts has the ability to be a very good 10 year player elsewhere

It is going to be Land of the Giants down at the Demons. Almost a third of the list are 193cm + (6' 4" in the old) Gawn 208, Spence 203, Fitz & Clark 200, Martyn & Jamar 198, Watts & Sellar 196, Hogan 195, McDonald 194, Frawley, Dawes and maybe Pederson all 193. Another 8 are b/n 190 - 192cm. Now if they could all learn how to use that collective beef bruise free footy would be a thing of the past -
Surely picks 4 and 20 are being kept for mids

And Stewart Loewe was a lousy mark, Brett kirk needs to get in touch with his spiritual side and Peter Slipper is a fit and proper person to hold the role of Speaker of the House of Reps This is fun -
If, and it is a big if, he gets through a Neeld/Misson preseason fit, healthy and with his head in the right place he could be a great addition to the team. He may pick up a yard and his kicking skills are still sublime
-
If he was leaving to play finals as reported and the Cats are offering reasonable terms then there should not be too much to think about. Maybe he will stay after all. I hope he does

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN
FarNorthernD replied to Little Richard's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can't see the Hogan deal happening. The younger the player the more difficult it is to know how they will end up. A 17 year old interstate man/boy with a far from textbook kicking action who monsters smaller kids is speculative in the extreme We need quality mids. Lots of them -

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
FarNorthernD replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
We have no idea what is being said behind closed doors. If it was reported that Jack said he won't go to any other club bar Melbourne, that he would leave the moment his first 2 year contract was up it may pump the chests of us supporters but may get the AFL to add a draft tampering inquiry to the tanking inquiry Who knows perhaps we are actually playing this very well
