  1. The mad eye twitch seems to have settled a bit too. Perhaps it is a barometer of Mark's stress levels
  2. Wow, first time I have ventured over to Bigfooty and I thought here got willing sometimes. That place is brutal. Don't think I'll wander back anytime soon
  3. UPOCS ???? (Sorry if obvious)
  4. First game isn't till March 31 so there is still 6 weeks skills improvement to come. Also only 18 or so from today will line up in round 1, hopefully most of those will be ones with better disposal. Add in Howe, Trenners, Clark, Dawes etc and we will look considerably better across the park
  5. It would be an accurate depiction if written by a supporter on a fan website. For an experienced, professional journalist with years of experience and contacts it is a disgrace To me it reads as if she has lost her primary contact at the AFL and is now trying to create some public outrage at a positive verdict for the MFC Honestly, if we are guilty or not, it is a poorly written article
  6. True, and you could argue that pick 7 is the only one above him that was clearly better.
  7. Nope
  8. Thank you, Ralph. Tough gig then if you are an International Rookie. Learn the skills for 2 years and if you are good enough there is another two years getting paid as a standard rookie. If good enough then get upgraded to a senior list.
  9. Never knew there was a Fortescue River. Next you'll be telling me there is Fortescue lager as well.
  10. Good story and glad we are being proactive. Can someone explain how the International scholarship works. Does Maia come over this season to train? If he is good enough when could he play. Two year contract?
  11. Like many here I am of the conclusion that, for many reasons, the penalties handed down to us by the AFL will not be overly harsh. But then if you look at the Bomberblitz board you realise there are many Essendon supporters in serious denial about the trouble they may be in. I can only assume the posters over there are the same passionate supporters as they are here, but perhaps a bit uglier. I do worry that perhaps I am missing the forest for all the trees
  12. This is my first post on this topic. I have probably read every post. For what it is worth here is my take Andrew Demetriou is enjoying the all that is being offered to him at the Olympics. He is staying in the best hotels, has front row seats to his favourite sports and is being entertained by the most important in people in world sport. He has made it His game back home is pulling in the ratings and bums on seats. The big clubs - Carlton, West Coast, Sydney are all going great. Collingwood is now winning after a shaky start and and an AFL favourite son is coaching another powerhouse to a 8-2 start. And my, Hird certainly has delivered. The Essendon boys are much bigger and stronger than last year. Demetriou is at the top of his game. He is the King of Sport He is following the news from back home and is regularly speaking to Adrian and others. Eventually, after the Brock Mclean statements, he is forced to make the call on what to do with the Melbourne Footy Club and the tanking scandal that has been dogging the club and the AFL for years. He thinks about and gets annoyed. Here he is, the King of Sport at the top of his game, being disturbed by the goings on of a lowly Club. "I should be having the time of my life rather than have to deal with this crap", he thinks to himself. Didn't I defend them in the past? Didn't I do everything in my power to get them over this? I was pilloried by the press when I stood by them. And this is how they repay me, the King of Sport He is running late for dinner with Jacques Rogge/Bernie Ecclestone/the PM at Downing St and on the way out the door rings Adrian. "They have [censored] me off one too many times. Send in Haddad and Clothier"
  13. Hopefully no news from the Club is good news. Perhaps the ambo was very much a precaution and there is nothing to comment on I don't really believe it, but here's hoping
  14. Without evidence to the contrary assume DC was being humorous. Watts has been blamed for everything from the GFC and the war in Syria to Gangham style
  15. Rnd 11, Sat June 8th at 4.10pm I will be glued to the tele watching Kurt be greeted by the Adelaide faithful at AAMI stadium when they take on Sydney. Should be fun Edit. Probably still suspended
  16. Hope Muggleton also spends lots of time with Rohan Bail showing him the difference between shoulder and neck
  17. I have that Melbourne syndrome thing. If a bad thing could happen to our Football Club, I believe, it will. However, the AFL has put its house in order on the tanking issue by eliminating priority picks. The original system developed by them was flawed and they know it. If this progresses it will reflect poorly on them, could kill one of their foundation clubs and would probably drag a number of other more powerful clubs into the ring. It could go on for years We will either be punished lightly or not at all
  18. Deelirium, you are right. I do believe that past discussions on this site have concluded that if a footballer 193cm tall then that footballer is doomed. Is Jack doomed?
  19. I also received a reply from Emma which I was not expecting considering the amount of correspondence she must get. Good on her
  20. I have never contacted a journo before, but emailed Emma Quayle today to express the sentiments above and to say how nice it was to read an article about the MFC that was free of politics and personal agendas
  21. It is easy to understand how frustrated supporters get when players don't live up to hype or expectations. Sylvia, Morton, that kid from the Dandenong Stingrays, Jurrah etc have rightly all caused much teeth gnashing over the past years. Trengove, on the other hand, is completely different. As mentioned previously his peers and the Footy Dept (who are striving for elite standards) thought enough of him to make him the youngest ever AFL captain. Jack's first two years were exactly what you would expect of a player going onto to being a star of the game. His 2012, by his own admission, was poor. Yet he still was rated the 8th best player of the year by the club. I don't know what was wrong with his kicking and acceleration but it was not like that in previous years. He had a kick for goal from just over 25 metres out and failed to make the distance. It was at this time that I realised he had a problem and that it wasn't the real Jack. It was kind of comforting Out of all our list there is no surer bet than Jack to become a top line player. I don't understand how others cannot see this
  22. Probably not, but Nic Nat would have struggled with the 2nd pillar (the ability to play football) Hartlett at 4 may have filled the criteria, Hurley at 5 would definately be a Neeld pick
  23. Think it was the same article said Jurrah fronted looking like he hadn't trained since walking out of Melbourne in August Call me selfish but I wouldn't be completely upset if he didn't make it at Port. If he is ever going to kick 5 and have MOTY it will be against us at the G. Also, whilst not knowing the details, still grumpy about him walking out on us with nary a thanks for the Clubs support or explanation as to why.
  24. Apologies, i have been following his sporting namesake lately
  25. Don't forget Clarke who wouldn't be with us if we were paying $cully $1.5 billion for each misdirected, floating 30m kick
