  1. Since the late 1990's , three AFL players who have each played over one hundred games have identical names ( middle given names excluded ) . Can you name them ? Any other examples of shared names in the VFL/AFL ?
  2. Yes , Don had two stints with us '53-59 & '64-68 with West Perth '60-62 and Sale '63 .

I would have walked had we merged . The thought of a shared history with the likes of Lethal and Dermie ........yuk ! I am sitting in a study with a framed NO MERGER sign overhead .
  4. Hoped the intermittently amazing Les Bamblett qualified but i missed by one game ! Mark Bradly was spruiked as our next top ruck prospect but with knee issues only managed four games .

I seem to remember that Tony was probably the last amateur in the VFL . As a schoolboy/uni rower i think he had ambitions to compete in the then very amateur Commonwealth Games and at least initially wished to keep that option open .

    " Healy off........Ellingworth on " -------an irate R.D.B.
  9. My memory of Bailey is very different . He was a solidly built plugger who only excelled on wet grounds . He was often promoted from the Reserves if conditions suited .
  10. The Ox before his initial knee rupture gets my vote . His spring was breathtaking and who could forget his nine goals at the SCG .
  11. Could Max have simply played "a bit sore" and subsequently had a quieter game than usual ? Tipping a ten mark game friday night .

My favourite player as a kid . I remember stomping both feet on the floorboards of the Grey-Smith Stand after each Bluey goal . Bit disappointed with the minimal reporting in the morning papers . The old HUN would have had a full page spread.
  13. I was fifteen years old in '64 and now i'm seventy ! Nonetheless, i thoroughly enjoyed the Jimmy Stynes era . We had champion teams in the '88 & 2000 G.F's but fell four or five players shy of our respective legendary opponents . ........and then there was Jacka ...............!

Tanking ??? No, basic skill errors a real problem . We deserved to lose but i can still visualise Petracca butchering a couple of gettable ones early and of course Fritsch landing only one from five attempts . .

How about a teary-eyed embrace (and photo) with no.12 at Gosch's during the week ?

  18. Is George Costanza now a consultant ?
  19. Boy we were ordinary in the old Royal Blue days and I still have a phobia about the colour . The above clash jumper with the revived 19th century MFC monogram on the front would be great but then an alternative against the Bummers may be necessary .
  20. Maxwell Newton's notorious Sunday Observer celebrated the defeat of the Whitlam Govt with a front page : THANK BLOODY CHRIST .
  21. When it came to the crunch , after irritating all parties he finally agreed to plead guilty .
  22. Swooper Northey could have been much more successful if his teams by necessity were not topped up with so many cast-off journeymen . His players really put-in for him , his 90-76 Win/Loss record remarkable under the circumstances .

  24. I would love to think he will remain loyal to his club and mates but squillions in the bank with lifetime security , a penthouse overlooking a fabulous Perth beach versus the regular commute along Punt Rd to Gosch's seems a no-brainer .
