Gysberts and Strauss chances for GWS - obviously depending on how we go against the Pies next week (in terms of injuries & changes). Haven't really had many soft tissue injuries from memory, mostly unavoidable ones (eg. the ankles).

These things happen in games. We won. Thats all that matters.

Most fist-pump-worthy highlight from last night

Garlands goal in the square -
He and Blease have both begun to learn when its appropriate to use their pace, and conversely when to take the safe option. Nicho definitely has a future.
-
Obviously haven't seen Davis or Sheahan at AFL level yet, but with those two and McDonald, it looks like we're getting some pretty good value from late-pick and rookie talls.
-
Still young. Time is on his side. Max Bailey still looks like he can carve out a career.
-
Yes, its the official team. Couch hasn't played for 3 weeks now. Bit hard to put him in for his first game after that. MacDonald as usual is meh. Happy with both outs though - and only having 2 is good as we WERE competitive for a decent amount of time last week... Sylvia, time to shine please mate.

Most players wouldnt take a pay rise to go from from a premiership contender a bottom of the table team
-
I dont get it. You list ALL the players we have recruited and highlighted those who are gone. Yet you dont do the same for the Hawks? Thorp (2 games) and Dowler (16) - both taken with PICK 6 in the 2005/06 drafts - they're gone. Ellis, PICK 3, cant get a game in their senior side and has always been flaky. Brown, Muston, Tuck, Renouf, Dawson, Jarryd Morton - all are gone (plus a bunch of others i've never heard of). Just thought if you were gonna take shots at our club like everyone else you should at least do it right.

Neeld will be furious. I already feel like Neeld doesn't like him (and Craig had similar comments on the footy show the other night about seriously needing to clean up his behaviour). It really sucks. Sylvia has been my favourite player for a long time. When he's on, hes strong, has a beautiful long kick and can take a great mark. Such a waste.

Definitely. Would love an influential former gun player to come in.

Do we need to hire another person on our talent scouting/recruitment team this year? We could be taking A LOT of players in this draft... and we NEED to get it right...
-
Clark in the ruck is this our 'game is over, who gives a [censored] anymore' tactic?
-
this is too funny

Hoping that Jurrah can at the very least be named as an emergency for Saturdays game. Fly up to Sydney on friday and get away with the boys for a weekend.
-
Seems to be that "rock of gibraltar" defensive role that Warnock was playing in the VFL last year - but at a very young age. Really good signs, the more backs we have putting pressure on Rivers/Garland/McDonald on to perform, the better.
-
thats cos every kick out of the backline just goes to a 2-on-1 and then straight back into the back half. no point running if the ball aint gonna get to where you're heading
-
How many game breaking KPFs did Geelong have in its 2007-11 run? Hawkins only came good right at the end of last year. Dont want Cloke. Let's continue to develop our own list first, then throw money at a player when we're off the bottom.

The more i think about 2010 the more i cant believe the situation we are in now... 8 wins. A draw and a one point loss to the eventual premiers. That infamous friday night game against the Bulldogs. The game against Freo (in Perth) where we stormed home and nearly snatched it. Average loss margin in the very respectable 20-30pt region. now look at us... hmm
-
Absolutely no point in talking trash if you're not winning games. Chippa was mouthing off to Buddy after he gave away a free kick on Friday night. Franklin just pointed to the scoreboard and it was over. How often do you see players like Ablett, Hayes, Black, Judd - modern greats of the game - talking trash? Almost never.

That was Luke Tynan, brother of our Tynan. Josh is injured.

Watts -v- Naitinui: The Definitive Analysis (Definitive, ie long!!)

So does this thread have a point to make...? or is it just stating a bunch of information that everyone already knows. Gee it takes a big man to sit at his keyboard and type a post like this. -
Wouldn't mind giving Troy Davis another shot. See if he can do as good of a job defensively as McDonald has been doing but dispose of the thing a bit better.

or our gameplan is [censored] and we dont have the skill to execute it

Didn't Moloney just change management the other day too?
