Square Peg, Round Hole - Exactly why we need Neeld!!!!
DemonWA replied to Vipercrunch's topic in Melbourne Demons
I dont actually think King was that out of line with what he said. I agree with him on the premise that if we had picked a coach who was more alligned with Bailey's ideas then we would have won a few games by now and would be less likley to have to rework our list. Having said that, what is best long term is up for debate IMO - too easly to tell either way -
overstatement of the day!! Tapscott is about the only 'in' that gets me exited. Hopefully Sylvia, Davey and Morton come back in some good form, we need them playing well come GWS/GCS games!

IMO Those who have impressed me more than i thought they would have; Rivers, Bartam, Jones, Mckenzie, Howe, Morton, Bate Those who i thought would be playing better than they have; Grimes, Trengove, Frawley, Garland, Watts, Jamar, Davey Those who are playing rubbish football compared to where they should be: Sylvia, Moloney

No offence, but this type of post is rubbing me up the wrong way lateley. You might be correct, but there are plenty of ways to skin a cat, and surely there are less drastic or less painful ways to establish the fact that AFL players need to give 100% regardless of talent. Neeld will get the right results eventually, but do we need such a painful transition period, would there have been no other way to get from A-B?!

i only saw him for the first time a week or so ago before the hawks game. The only decent aspect of his performace is that smoking jacket!!

The missing ingredient is "white line fever". i think the whole players v schwab, and now players v Neeld has ben embellished to a point where it could make it as a mid day soap opera. No matter how upset some members of the playing group could be at the way Bailey/Schwab/Neeld have handled things, i cannot believe that this can translate to on field performances where 90% of the team seem to show a lack of desire. I think blaming schwab or neeld is a cop out. its probably easier to take than accepting that our players are spoilt brats who dont have the competative streak thats required to make it in a top line AFL side

when i read this all i just felt deja vu. It was like a paraphrased version of the more sedate / level headed posts on the topic from demonland! -
Elaborate?

Agreed. Why not take it even further?! The coaching staff and playing group should go on a midweek bender together, have a laugh and bond over some beers. Then Neeld should bring all the player in and just be frank, "listen, you fellas think you know better, so i'll give you one week to play however the hell you want to". They'll still get pantsed and then they might finally wake up to themselves, show a bit of dicipline and play to the game plan?!

Out: Interest in AFL season 2012 In: Interest in WAFL season 2012 - Carn the black ducks!

Scully looks to have made the right choice for him. I take solace from the fact that GWS head hunted the wrong man!
-
At some point Neeld needs to let the guys play to their strengths? If not then we will loose against GWS and GCS and the players will loose the the little self belief they have left.

lowly tigers? not sure which year your reffering to?

The MFC website is having a comp asking for the words on the round 9 banner. theres alot of good wordsmiths on this site so i reckon there could be some smart suggestions entered from here. Round 9 is against Carlton...so what about something like? LOOK OUT BLUES THE DEES ARE HERE TO PLAY BRUISE FREE FOOTBALL WAS NOT A SMART THING TO SAY

I remember when Freo enlisted Rick Charlsworth to Freo's coaching group. Nothing came of it at the time, however i reckon he would have been ahead of his time suggesting bringing a defensive press into AFL.

For me the modern game refers to the way AFL has been played since roughtly 2000's onwards. Since umpires rules have put an end wrestling in a marking contest, and been hot on push in the back Since full forwards/backs & ruckmen have had to have an increased athletic ability and not be just tall and strong

As strange as it sounds we have the best Morton!

Any of our young players potential star material? And who?
DemonWA replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jurrah is the only potential superstar on our list IMO. We have plenty more that could become very very good but Jurrah can do things others cant, and is the only one that i could imagine otther teams supporters wishing they had in the next 3-5 years -
Davey?!! Aaron's career is 100x better than Alwyns
