hold on there belzebub. He's been a good friend and metor to Liam since day 1. I dont agree with your implications here

I respect gerard whateley but i find myself, on occasions, having to turn the radio off when Scwabb & Walls and Whateley are commentating on ABC radio. I find that they can very easily get into a negative rutt of bagging teams or players. Give me the light hearted styling of Brad Hardie, Graham "Smokey" Dawson & Adam Papalia any day of the week! haha

its way too early but i was disapointed with the weekends result. The one thing i was hoping Neeld would do (that bailey couldnt) is motivate the players to lift when the chips were down. To get the guys to stand up for each other and the club rather than roll over when things got tough. Basically to lift the desire to a point where we would loose honourably ratehr than get pants'd. He talks the talk though.......

dont say that, i'll be at subi for the game and wouldnt be able to stand another thrashing like last year

Being in WA i only read flanigans articles via the links regularly posted on here. Just out of interest is he on the clubs payroll?? Seems almost as preo demons as many of us?!!

I reckon the "pink" issue is to do with the contrast used on the TV cameras I agree that of late our jumpers look a little maroon rather tomato sauce red, but i'm happy with it

Liam Jurrah: charged, on bail and discussion closed for now
DemonWA replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
What the? He is in custody. Just like Sylvia would have been for drink driving. Until we hear any more i would jump to any conclusions -

None of what he is saying is wrong though....

This thread is an interesting one. FWIW i sit firmly in the camp of "give Liam all the time he needs to get the personal issues sorted and then come back and give us 100% as he has to date". And the fact he is injured is even more reason not to begrudge him or the club for allowing the leave. The reason i think this thread is interesting is becasue i expected more people to be on the unpaid leave bandwagon. Why? Becasue alot of posters on Demonland were all for Neeld "sacking" the old leadership group and his various other hardlined methods for handling the players. After all, the players are professionals ; AFL is their JOB right? I wonder wheather Neeld had any say in the decision to release LJ? Its nice to see that the majority of us draw the line on serious issues like this though.

Dont discount the value of a squad competing for spots. If we have 13 fighting for the last 5 spots then it can only be a good thing IMO as they'll all be training and playing like their life depends on it. I also agree that depth isnt the silver bullet for success, but surely its not a bad thing to have!

Ouch! Who are the two senior player? Davey & Rivers? Davey and Green?

haha classic

I agree with this point. As a rule too many of us want our team to be a like for like with Geelong / Collingwood. "Tapscott can be our Chapman", "Martin can be our Leigh Brown", "Gysberts will be our Pendlebury" I think our older players would look decent in a good team. and i think our young players are still 2-3 years away from really being a contender. Purely based on age.

im sure he can too. Im just frustrated by all of these puff pieces on the clubs website, like Barrassi's birthday and now this blazer. I'd happily have no preseason activity on the site apart from match reports, injury updates & sponsorship info
-
i dont really care either way. Im sure players hold onto a few of their gurnseys for afetr they retire, now they have another pice of fabric that will gather dust?! Cam should focus on getting the FOJ sponsor on board instead of bringing back old traditions for the sake of nostalgia

RPFC has it right here. If you can imagine a trade where we get a good deal then its pretty damn unlikley that the rival club would think its a good deal too. Unfortunatley Demons supporters are about the only people in australia that rate Watts, Gysberts, Bail etc. We do so based on current output and potential/age rather than actualy output here and now. Untill these guys forfill their potential other clubs are unlikley to see the currancy that we do
-
oh yeah i rememebr that now. Unfortunatley that sort of thing is common place at perth taxi ranks so it slipped my mind :/

What did Kerr do to be incriminated?
-
For sure. and it took pretty drastic things to happen for the AFL and the eagles to do anything about it. Fletcher almost died on an end of season trip, Cousins went off the rails bif time in public. These days Daniel Chick is apparently in a mental health clinic becasue his brain is so addled from all of the drugs.
-
none of this is news to people over here. In their prime it was not unusual to bump into these guys at a pub or club in perth / subi and be shocked at how out of it they were. Cousins especially. Hunter has always been a wild bloke

I actually get nervous when frawley gets the ball deep in defence, often he'll back him self to run the ball out and break tackles when the situation seems to call for a long kick towards the boundary line?! As for A graders i have high hopes for a great deal of our young players, but i sometimes think my one eye'd ness blurs my perception. All my mates dont rate hardly any of our players and reckon North & the Tigers etc have better young mids than us. I offer Trengove, Moloney, Jones, Gysberts, McKenzie as our best 5. They rate Cotchin, Martin, Delidio, and Co or Swallow, Harvey, Ziebell, etc much higher than our crop. All believe that the tigers will taste success before us
-
same logic apart from i think the saints will beat us 4 wins is my realistic take on where we will be Bombers, Tigers and doggies will also be tough games. I dont really see us getting any easy wins this year aside from GWS
