Been working over here. Interesting place but terrible slow Internet means demonland becomes the only way to keep up to date. -

Changes for Round 8

I've got no problem with this. Just as young players must earn a call up to AFL, they should also earn a full game. -

I would be interested to know from Tyson how Roos compares to Sheedy, given the stature of both as coaches. And I live in Ethiopia, so does that mean my questions get the highest priority -

How Buddy warms up to play the Demons

Hey Buddy, you're way outta line! -
That all depends on how the event is framed, which we don't know yet. But admittedly I come from a very radical perspective on such matters and I don't want to go into that now as I am here to talk and read about footy not politics.

As much as I am opposed to war and glorifying it in any way, I have to admit I like this concept. My grandfather became a MFC supporter during his service in WWII and I am sure he would have been proud to see the Dees play on this occassion.

Great post Goodvibes. I've been living in Ethiopia the last 9 months but still following the footy as best I can. Given the terribly slow internet, watching games is out of the question so I rely heavily on Demonland for information. I agree that things the level of despair on demonland lately is overwhelming and has been bringing me down as well, even though I am so far removed from Australia at present Funnily enough, I often refer to that "get busy living, or get busy dying" quote from the shawshank redepemtion whenever I am struggling with the stress and challenge of living over here in a very different culture without many of the modern comforts we take for granted back home. But I also think it applies very well to our beloved Dees and all the supporters in the current situation, so thanks for the reminder.

I recall have the same belief the last two seasons coming up against Brisbane (2012) and Port (2013) Rd 1 at home, and look how that turned out... But still with the new coaching regime and recruitment this off season (and the dramatic departure of Scott Watters) I think with have cause for optimism.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAYDEN HUNT
Deetective Sgt. Taggert replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
Pretty sure Howe had his own youtube highlights video before he was drafted. But I agree, and there is something more exciting and intriguing about lessor known players as opposed to those with big write ups and high expectations from the get go. -
If you look closely at the picture in the link below, you'll see the MFC crest is on the front of the jumper. I agree it looks good, but only on the red background, if it was on white it would look too much like carlton. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-11-18/melbourne-football-club-announces-new-major-partner

Be interested to know what Clark thinks of being a forward/ruck - he seemed really keen for the full forward role when we first recruited him. Perhaps the injuries he sustained playing forward may have changed his mind though. Either way, as long as he is on the park I would be very happy. Just the thought of Clark, Dawes and Hogan starting off a game in the forward line and immediately monstering their opponents with some good old push and shove action is most enticing.

Full Melbourne 2014 Fixture
Deetective Sgt. Taggert replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
Actually a 400% improvement (increase) on 15 wins is 75 wins. 60 wins would be a 300% improvement on 15 wins... -
An insider's POV - Comments from Russell Robertson
Deetective Sgt. Taggert replied to deanox's topic in Melbourne Demons
The reality is that processes and procedures generally only get scrutinised when outcomes are poor. Our processes may have been robust and transparent but due to poor outcomes on the field they get called into question. I'm not questioning the processes because culture change in any organisation is extremely difficult to manage successfully and there will always be bruised egos and tension along the way. I think Neeld (and the board) underestimated the enormity of the task and made mistakes along the way, and in hindsight, it was a tall order for a rookie head coach. -
Worst umpiring performance of the year
Deetective Sgt. Taggert replied to Return to Glory's topic in Melbourne Demons
Very soft but north had their chances. If Wright had kicked that goal from 10m with about 5 mins to go it would have all over. -
Just watched her interview with Matt Burgan. Was impressed by her obvious passion for the game and emotional response to being selected at no 1. She seems to posses the kind of love for just playing footy with limit reward or recognition that is so lacking in our current group of players. Send her in to play for us I say!

Whatever you views on Daniher as coach, you gotta love his pure elation on beating the dogs. Heart warming stuff.

My earliest football memory is watching this game. I was sitting right near the cheersquad and never had so much fun in my life! In fact, I was reflecting on this game after we kicked 12 in the last quarter against GWS as I don't reckoned I'd cheered so much since then...
