  1. Based on who is available, if our team looks something like this I'll be very happy: White Hutchins Garland Grimes Dunn Michie Salem ANB Kennedy Spencer Oliver Trengove JHK T. Smith Hulett Newton Weideman Terlich IC: J. Smith M. Jones Max King Keilty McInerney Morris Munro Scott Not a bad 2's side at all....
  2. It's funny isnt it. The list looks seriously in trouble and more trouble as they are trying to dig themselves out of a bad drafting hole. Would have loved him to say he looked at Collingwood and Richmond and decided Richmond had the better list....
  3. We wont possibly say anything until we are out of the finals. I think that most players will have their cards stamped, but a couple of really good performances in the finals might change some minds (White????). We'd be silly to say anything until we finish so everyone is focused on the finals. I do like that there is players nominating left right and centre and none have come from Melbourne so far.
  4. I think we are going to see everyone linked with Carlton and Richmond this year. I'd be asking him to play wing not forward and I really dont think he is what we need in here. Carlton can have him and see how the recycled players in 2016 goes considering its worked so well for them so far....
  5. I just dont know how Collingwood would get it done. While De Goey is a good option I'd still feel I'd want more if I was GC. I need mids, so I'd want De Goey, I'd ask for Sharrenberg (injured I know, so would hope the price would be low) and then I'd be asking for 2 second rounders. And Mo64 - O'Meara is not worth a third of the Danger deal. Danger is worth 2 first rounders and steak knives - O'Meara is worth an early first rounder and a big giant sweetner.
  6. Who are the fruit tingles. Multi coloured? Freo? Adelaide?
  7. Just looks like he'll be part of the Pretia trade. You think they would get away with first rounder this year, Lennon and Conca. Players that have some skill but for some reason havent made it. I'd like to have Lennon, but assume it would cost us a second rounder and I wonder if he is worth it.
  8. Ranked 7th in tackles in the AFL and 15th in clearances. Not a bad option. Free agent so "free" well it would be swapping him for Grimes as we'd get nothing for Grimes if we get him. 9. Also thanks for linking to the wikepdia site. Reading them now and I didn't realise we went Rivers Davey 1 2 in 2004.
  10. And we have precedent! Good game by Hunt today would hopefully have him there.
  11. Thanks Angry. Wonder if he will play VFL finals. He is not in need of surgery, so it will be about if he is going to be better for the run.
  12. (b) Subject to Rule 20(c) below, a Player who has played in an AFL Home and Away Match after 1 July in the relevant season will be ineligible to play in VFL Senior Grade or Development League Finals Series Matches unless that Player has played in a combined total of at least six (6) Senior Grade or Development League Home and Away Matches in the same season. (g) Despite any other provision in Rule 20, where a Club does not field a Development League Team, an AFL listed Player must: (i) qualify under Regulation 20(b); and (ii) have played no more than 12 AFL Home and Away Matches, So after reading this, we are fielding a D-League team therefore it doesnt matter if they've played more than 12 AFL matches? Salem has played 5 matches (nope); Oliver is about to play his 6th (13 AFL games); Kennedy 6 (15 AFL games). Hoping that we do get Kennedy and Oliver for the finals. What a midfield!
  13. Big loss. Crows will be barracking for us tomorrow.
  14. Barrass has been outstanding tonight and has been interregnal in WC lead. . Hunt will need a ripper game. Poor kid - cannot get a break!
  15. It's a good squad to choose from. JKH has had injuries but that would be about it. No reason to send any off for surgery and most playing to prove something for 2017. A big finals series by any of them will have a major implication for 2017.
  16. So happy with this. Made my night. Go Dees!
  17. Coming back from injury so assume he'll play 50% game time to get back into it for week 1 of the finals next week. I thought it was a message but then remembered a) Imjured last week and b) he's been great at Casey all year. Hope he finishes the year with a premiership.
  18. The Casey thread isnt up yet but the teams are in..... Newton is in the D-League...... (edit - sorry forgot he was injured last week!) And Clarry has been named at Casey. But no Dawes.
  19. Conspiracy theory - he needs one more game to be eligible for VFL finals.........
  20. Abe completely agree. Injuries have hurt these boys and they have what we need - speed and kicking skills. Both are coming back from injuries this year. Pickett showed a little in his first year in the NEAFL and then did his foot in round 5. Will be back for pre-season. Ahern did his ACL but all good now and ready for the pre-season, he didnt play this season but was good last season in patches. Generally was either BOG or drifted in and out of games having a big impact then disappearing. Both can play on a wing or half forward. Would love to see them both in the Red and Blue and first rounder next year plus maybe 3rd this year should do it considering that they wont be able to keep them in a few years anyway due to their list overload with more Academy talent (so tough being them). Also, they were taken with pick 4 and 7 after Trac and Brayshaw. Ahern was a clearance king in the championships alongside his partners in crime (no prizes for guessing who those 2 young men were at Vic Metro) and found his way onto the AA centreline which read Ahern Petracca Stretch, Pickett was good in a very average WA side who only won 1 game in the championships. I think there is more upside in these boys than there is Hoskin-Elliot and Tomlinson and getting both of them addresses our needs (wings, speed, foot skills, goal kicking) rather than the other two.
  21. Who have you got below them? Brissy has a good run with injuries they probably win more games In all seriousness, if they do get him that is fantastic for them - their first A grader since Harvey, its only been 20 years. Also glad to see them cripple themselves. Hopefully Richmond have to pay 2 picks for Prestia as well, and Freo pay through the roof for Hill, McCarthy, and Lobb.
  22. First of all kudos to some sensible thinkers on this thread who actually think about the implications of delisting players (Angry and Stuie I'm looking at you two among others). If we delist a player we need to replace them and we need to replace them with something which is either better or has the potential to be better. Trenners is 25 and is dominating the VFL. If we had a VFL player doing what he was doing, we'd be calling for him to be drafted to Melbourne. Trenners puts pressure on the 22 every week and what makes him better - he helps those players become better at training because he is a good bloke. If someone offers me a deal for Trenners (say Hibbard for Trenners), I'd say are we going to get more out of Hibbard then Trenners, then make a decision. We will no delist him, or Pederson, or Grimes, or possibly Matt Jones because they have currency and they will fit into a 44 of one of the 18 teams. You do not simply delist a player who is playing that well at VFL level and has shown they are an effective player at VFL level. I promise you that the Roos, Freo, Dons, Carlton, will all be looking at Trenners, Grimes, Jones. Hawthorn will have a look at Pederson if they dont get Vickery. This all comes back to "greater than". We wont get a Hunt with a pick 81, but if pick 53 gets offered up for Pederson then we need to ask ourselves the question. I would love to see Grimes playing in a best 22 somewhere in the league next year and I'm happy as long as we get some sort of compensation for it - but this talk of delisting is wrong and short sighted. Every year since Melbourne 3.0 (Roos, Taylor, etc) the in's have been much better than the out's (have a look at Wikepedia of our outs each year and it is very clear why we were at the bottom). Let's keep it that way, alright demonland?
  23. Agree with Ron. Maybe 2 years on not a lot of coin, but if Jones goes down we need Trenners. Grimes is good back up on the wing and also for Jetta. You need 30 players - not just 22
