WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Dee-licious replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
1%ers. Sits after Rance and Jonas as the 1%er kings of the AFL (in front of McGoven, Hurley, May). His 92% game time ranks him 30% in the league (endurance). -
OMac getting hounded for nothing. He was far from the worst and he worked hard all day. He and Frost are getting better each game and there shouldn't be that many free north players that those boys are stuck between a rock and a hard place of what to do. The mids were beaten today with pressure. It was immense. We weren't ready at all. By the time we had space we were so in our heads we rushed and turned it over. Weid might not be ready but what else do we have? No other KPP has put their hand up. We are holding on until the big boys come back.

Wow - everyone's seeing the game very differently. 6 - Hibbard - the best trade we've had since Vince?? Such a good player. 5 - Tyson - just gets the ball 4 - Viney - what I loved is that he was tagged but still tackled and cleared the ball. 3 - T McDonald - important everywhere 2 - Frost - they were hammed down back today and whilst he and OMac might make mistakes, but they offered run 1 - Jetta - held strong in a barrage
-
6 - Viney as good as he has been. Tried to do too much in the end. 5 - Frost - so important and just took the game on. 4 - Jones - really strong at the stoppages. 3 - Oliver - Hodge loves him. So do I. 2 - Lewis - such an important player for us. 1 - Watts - we look so much better when he is in the ruck.
-
Casey tweeted the team sheet and no Brayshaw or ANB today
-
Foxfooty saying Brayshaw playing this weekend but not in the named side.....
-
My favourite bit of this was "I know he is a downhill skier, but he is genuinely good downhill skier". How good is it to be able to talk about guys who are downhill skiers and bringing them into the club rather than getting rid of them????? He is going to cost draft picks and the only way I want us using a draft pick on a trade this year is for a KPP, ready to go mid (e.g. Kelly, Whitfield, Hopper, Kennedy), or trading for a future 1st rounder. Now to find the next Hawthorn to trade with.....
-
Also Oscar played nearly every minute of the game (99%) game time and had 14 1%ers. Had a few ah poo moments (ANB handball and being out muscled) but much more confident than he was. A good strong backline with the 6 back there.
-
6. Watts did everything again and kicked 4 goals from it. 5. Lewis - controlled when it was needed. 4. Tom Mc - he only screwed up so much because his intercept marking is that good. Really should have been best on. 3. Trac - held Hurley accountable after Hurley killed us in the 1st half. 2. Oliver - 33 touches. 1. N Jones - so good when it was his time to lead.

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 5

Where do we find this? Thanks. -
Annoying but we will get Casey teams tonight so that should help with the guessing....
-
It's funny that Watts this morning talked up JKH on SEN and Plapp did it as well. I'd assume he's in the 25 then.
-
Footywire.com.au has them once the game is played. We are 24 age and 70 games which puts us youngest and least experienced. We have the second most 0-50 gamers weeek in week out (Sydney the most) and week in week out we are playing the most players under 100 games. Carlton and Gold Coast both older and more experienced than us. The fact that we are expected to do so well is in contrast to the age and experience of our side
-
To top it all off - we are probably back in the 8 tonight....
-
Backing up the other posters. I'd like to keep Weid because he looked promising in the first 2 matches with Hogan. But it all depends on Casey and if Hibbard is ready to go
-
6 - Watts - I think that he is showing more and more, and we said that the going down of Max is the making of Spencer, I think it might be the making of Watts. 5 - Hunt - Just getting better each game. He is so important to us. 4 - Garlett - only dangerous forward all day. 3 - Oliver - 10 clearances. While there were mistakes, he is so important to us without Max 2 - Salem - we are so reliant on his kicking. The boys just look for him 1 - Frost - Forgot how composed he is. Really important for us all day.

Hi All, Andrew Brayshaw (Gus' little brother) is having a ripping start to the season in the TAC Cup averaging 25 disposals from his 3 games (and a heap of tackles). Hamish (the middle one) is back as a 19 year old and he seems to be starting a little slower. Anyone who has been watching the Dragons closely have any thoughts of the boys' games? Thanks!

2016 Player Review - # 30 Alex Neal-Bullen
Dee-licious replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
That draft had the ability to make or break a premiership for us. So glad to see him succeeding this year. I remember reading a little about him when we had pick 21 (traded for Frost) but didn't bother again as we were moving to 40 and 53. Loved his videos about his background. A boy who isn't all about football and you can tell that football is just for now - he is going to go on and do even better things post footy. -
I find it really interesting because of Hogan, Weiderman isnt really talked about by the outside world. While we might all think he is going to develop well, the outsiders talk about Danniher, McCartin, Schace, McKay for Carlton, etc but no love for Weid. If he tracks the way he is going (no improvement, just stagnate) for the rest of the year, he ends up with 33 goals and must be seriously competing for the Rising Star with that amount of goals. Might have the sort of development we wish Watts had - off the bright lights of Broadway and can develop in his own time with great players around him.

6: Salem (I dont know what it looked like on TV but wow he had an outstanding game. Imagine him and Kelly on a wing together). 5: Oliver (Just dominated the first quarter and came back strongly in the last - also put a cheeky $2 on him for the brownlow) 4: Jeffy (that tackle!) 3: Jetta (so underrated. I wonder if he will at least be in the AA conversation) 2: T-Mac (If Hurley, Rance, and McGoven dont take the possie, he will) 1: Jones (when we needed our captain he came running. Homsar - live Weid looks really good. Right areas, competes well. Will be something.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Dee-licious replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting. At the time we were into McCartin (as Roos said we would have taken 2 of the top 3) and also Lever which we had rated at 5 (remember Heeney would have been in there). McCartin would have filled our hole at full forward that we are now filling with Weiderman. Saints at that time had no Bruce, no Membry, and an aging Nick (didn't he turn it around) so I understand when there was only a little bit between the 2, you go the guy who you really need. Plus they were worried about Trac's arrogance (I personally love it). For dees supporters, the choice between Petracca and Weiderman or McCartin and Curnow/Milera is a no brainer to me. I think Weid will be better than McCartin as a key forward and I know Trac will be the pick of the lot. Gee it is good being on the end of good drafting for once! -
Gee Kent looked impressive.

Foxfooty calling for Wagner to come into the side, but I dont think he played?

2016 Player Review - # 30 Alex Neal-Bullen

Thought the video on him today was really interesting. Made me go back through the JLT series stats and he went 9d, 14d, 15d (tackles increased as well) and then the 23d on the weekend. He was saying that he is starting to understand the high half forward role. I honestly believe he could be playing in the midfield for a lot of teams in the AFL, he is just unlucky that we now have a deep engine room. Hope he continues to play well and cement his spot. He can run all day and that is a great thing for us.
