  1. At the moment, I'd say that Hogan and Watts have kept them out of the team. Due to structure, we need Pedo or Frost as the 3rd tall so they can ruck. If Watts wasn't performing as a forward that I think we would have seen one or the other this week against Brisbane. I think we are seeing a sign of our depth with them in the 2's rather than keep them there for a year for their development. We are lucky because we can keep them there at the moment. For the sake of comparison, these are the clubs that Weed (or Hulett for that matter) would have lined up for this week because of a weak tall forward line: Essendon, Hawthorn, Freo, Suns, Collingwood, Brisbane, Carlton, Port, Dogs, Tigers, Those who they would be in the 2's because they have good key talls who would keep them out North, Crows, Cats, Giants, Swans, Saints, West Coast, I know which group I'd prefer to be in.... Let them develop out until they knock down the door or injuries allow them to come in. Moore played 8 odd games last year, that's a pretty good model to follow.
  2. 6 - Viney - tackled, got ball, did his thing. 5 - Tyson - Reslly starting to click into gear. 32 is a big return from him. 4 - Jetta - just is a rock even though he's tiny. 3 - McDonald - 11 marks 25 touches. His 1%er numbers up again and as much as we get stuck into him, he is still one of the best in the league. Needs help though. 2 - Stretch - best game for the club. Really liked his endevour and went from boarder line 22 to important in the space of one game. 1 - Watts - terrible first half and then really got involved in the 2nd. His passes to Hogan are insane.
  3. It was really noticeable today. I know it's so fast and the umps can't see but sheesh!
  4. His back according to Misson's video. A bit of soreness and hopefully he will be back up next week. VDB playing next week. Then VFL bye. Them JKH the week after.
  5. In all seriousness, I'd like to see James McDonald interviewed for the job. Besides that there are plenty of the Geelong boys who want to coach.
  6. The thing that hurt the crows this week was that they had to man up on Redpath. Assuming the Dogs will do the same, they want to make sure that we have to put one of our key backs on him instead of them following Stringer up the ground. Now I think that we will see Dunn in the emergencies ready to come in based on the Dogs selection. We have been a good backline in the past with Dunn, Garland and McD, the question is if we are brave enough to go back to it.
  7. Newton and ANB 8 each in the last term. Really great 4 quarter effort by the 2 boys. Newton is building nicely and someone who I had forgotten (read: written off) because of the injury, but could be playing his way back into the seniors. Full Time Statistics Goals - Briggs, Weideman 4, Dawes, Grimes, Newton 2, Morris, King, Spencer, Terlich, Trengove 1 Full Time Statistics Disposals - Newton 38, Neal-Bullen 30, Dunn 26, Grimes 24, Trengove 23, Terlich 21, T.Smith 18 3Qtr Time Stats Disposals - Newton 30, Neal-Bullen 22, Dunn 22 Goals - Briggs, Weideman 3, Newton 2, Grimes, King, Morris, Trengove. HT Stats. Disposals - Newton 18, Dunn 14, Neal-Bullen 14 Goals - Weideman 3, Briggs 2, Grimes, Morris, Newton, King. QT Stats Disposals - Newton 13, Dunn 8, Neal-Bullen 7. Goals - Briggs 2, Grimes, King, Weideman 1
  8. Newton, ANB, Dunn, and Wiederman putting their hands up. Having Weid up the front is doing the same thing that Hogan was doing when he was in his year at Casey. It gives us structure and something to kick to down the front end. 13 goals so far this season - which is one off leading the league. Hulett has 8. A little of our issue is that Hogan, Watts and Weiderman are not ruckmen. So we still have a second ruck issue. Maybe this is Frost going from the backline into the centre. It's a really promising sign for the Dees at the moment and a good question is where does everyone fit in? Casey have moved to top spot and now we are going to be hunted. We have a great VFL side, but that relies on our Melbourne players. Injuries will play havoc in that if people start going down. But think about what we have coming in next week with Harry, Gus, Salem, M Jones. They are 4 players who are going to make an impact at the Dees / Casey who are making us stronger.
  9. Spencer on the siren.....kicks a...goal! 19.11.125 to 2.6.18. and for you Weiderman fans out there (like myself). It is Weiderman 4.0.24 to the Northern Blues 2.6.18.
  10. Terlich running goal. We are up by 101. 18.11.119 to 2.6.18. It is going to be a good week on the track for the boys.
  11. They have lost 4 players, so only one on the bench for the Blues. So we are doing what we should be. Although didnt think we'd keep them to 2 goals. Weid kicks his fourth. Love to see him kick his 5th today. 112 to 18. 17 minutes gone. Plenty of time left. And another limps to the bench. This could get ugly if we put our heads down for the last 10 minutes.
  12. Briggs kicks his 4th. He is loving life at Casey. Might need Angry at Casey to find out more about him. 19 year old - did a Google search and couldn't find anything. 105 - 18.
  13. Dunn gives away a free kick to Karbatheh and he converts the goal.
  14. That they are. Not as good as their AFL team.
  15. I'd say the flood gates are open, but it is more the flood dawes. He kicks his second. 15.9.99 to 1.6.12
  16. Grimes kicks the first for the quarter. Dawes kicks his first, 40 out.
  17. In that quarter: Newton had 12 touches, ANB and Dunn 8 each. 3Qtr Time Stats Disposals - Newton 30, Neal-Bullen 22, Dunn 22 Goals - Briggs, Weideman 3, Newton 2, Grimes, King, Morris, Trengove. HT Stats. Disposals - Newton 18, Dunn 14, Neal-Bullen 14 Goals - Weideman 3, Briggs 2, Grimes, Morris, Newton, King. QT Stats Disposals - Newton 13, Dunn 8, Neal-Bullen 7. Goals - Briggs 2, Grimes, King, Weideman 1
  18. You can only play against the opposition you are drawn against? Dons are 4th. Williamstown are 1st (we lost to them though), Collingwood are 9th, and Frankston are no longer the cellar dwellers that we beat. We are not doing too badly and it's not like we are against bad opposition. Cannot wait until we play some of the bottom teams. If we beat Sandy easily next week, we have arrived and a serious chance for the flag.
  19. 29 minutes into the third and Dylan Buckley manufactures a goal for the Blues (not sure who kicked it off the ground). We've got in back in our 50 now to try and get that one back.
  20. Newton running, bouncing goal. 11 goals up. 11.6.72 to 0.6.6. Weiderman having a blinder in conditions that aren't good for talls.
  21. Trenners kicks the first of the 3rd. Dunn doing everything down back. Blues have opened their forward line, and as we'd expect - Dunn is loving the space. Another Blues player goes down and the stretcher is out. It was a sling tackle and hitting the head, so not sure who tackled, but sure it will be looked at.
  22. Big raps on ANB and Weiderman at half time. More so than Newton and Dawes who they have discussed are important. ANB a little busier in that term that Newton. HT Stats. Disposals - Newton 18, Dunn 14, Neal-Bullen 14 Goals - Weideman 3, Briggs 2, Grimes, Morris, Newton, King. QT Stats Disposals - Newton 13, Dunn 8, Neal-Bullen 7. Goals - Briggs 2, Grimes, King, Weideman 1
  23. A contested mark is the only sort of mark you should be content with
  24. Should have waited before I posted. Weiderman gets another mark in the 50. 45m out and he has 3.
  25. Weiderman with a contented mark from O-Mac. Kicks the goal, his second. 8.5.53 to 0.3.3.
