  1. Agree dazzle We donโ€™t need poor kicks, ???. And that could represent me if the little ? comes back, or Max helping us to be rid of him.
  2. Absolutely feel for Bailey, but he has been played. by necessity, out of position. He has had a fantastic first season and is destined for bigger things. Who knows, IF we do win matchups may see him back for the GF? Can't criticise the selection though. However it does look like Jeffy may have played his last game. It will be interesting to see his body language in the VFL GF.
  3. The ":below the knees" rule is is desperate need of clarification. The "message" sent out by the free against Brayshaw on Friday (maybe to a lesser extent Lewis too) is frankly dangerous. It suggests that if a player is down getting the ball trip over him and get a free. Extremely dangerous. We have heard for years that the head must be protected but here we have a player going in for the ball, collecting it, and an opponent IMO deliberately initiating contact with the head with his feet and getting rewarded. I am extremely concerned that if this continues, than there will be a serious and permanent head or neck injury - after which of course they will come out and express surprise and concern. It is a pity that the AFL are too bloody weak to come out and say that head high (or head low) contact takes precedence over below knee contact.
  4. That Selwood one was a disgrace - umpire totally sucked in. Maybe they were .... certainly this week's opponents will be. Really pisses me off (mentioned earlier in this thread) that they warn - just give the friggin free and it will stop.
  5. And just wait to hear whatever clown is running the maggots this year explain the inexplicable aberration as being anything other than intimidation of umpires who should be above that.
  6. You must be looking at a different Hannan than I am He contributed to several goals as well as his own and FWIW I canโ€™t see him being dropped
  7. Exactly Max .... 8 more quarters mate. Get the job done, then have a rest and make us a few coffees
  8. Frawley actually got the ball? Didnโ€™t really notice. Donโ€™t really care. Bloody Juda$$
  9. Agree. Cringeworthy but nonetheless entertaining - was Clarrie playing stupid, or ...?? OMG. Not there for BTโ€™s segment. ? Surely incontrovertible and final proof that he hates this club and just canโ€™t wait to feel the buzz and excitement of a Ross Lyon forward โ€œstructureโ€!
  10. Maybe, but by comparison Williams was slow and unathletic, and his hand balling was never quite up to Clarrie's standard :-)
  11. The maggots don't need to say anything - just blow the whistle and pay the free. The players (should) know the rules. Just like when there is a ruck contest the maggots prattle on "no holding, no holding" as if the ruck men don't know the rule. Just pay the bloody free! Whilst I am on the subject, they also need to pay some frees (and if it is for us or against us doesn't really matter as long as it evens up eventually) with all this punching, grabbing around the neck, and elbowing even before the game starts .... just pay a free ... no warnings. .... Nike_just do it.

    Yes.
  13. It certainly looked good - I wonder if Lynden Dunn was watching, expecting Frosty to incur the wrath of God aka the coach? PS: in neither game was I comfortable until I heard the first sonorous peal of the siren. Such is the pessimism build of the last 50 of 60+ years of following this team. I have long gone lost count of the times death has been ignominiously snatched from the very jaws of glory.
  14. So what IS the current AFL* rule on this - remember too that AFL is highly regulated and has I believe interchange stewards one per team. There are also the emergence maggots looking at the interchanges (as Ducker Sellwood now well knows) My understanding is that now there is a free kick plus 50 m at the time it is detected and paid from the point of play. I believe that the stripping of all scores to the time of the detection has been dropped, at least at AFL level. In SANFL are there interchange stewards for each team, and is there a stated rule for breach? In a game decided by fewer points than were scored by the offending team during the breach period, common sense and natural justice would surely dictate that at very least any scores made by the offending team should be void, and some sort of additional penalty added such as stripping say double the number of points scored during that time would seem reasonable. *Still, were it to happen at AFL level I am certain that Gillon and Shocking would jump to arrive at a considered and very fair conclusion that would satisfy all, and follow the terms of natural justice. :-)))))
  15. A lot of speculation here Is the really good? What position / role does he play? Does he fill a specific need for our list? Wouldn't he be a Lions F/S option should they want him? (Does he want to play for us?)
  16. Thanks Devil I hadn't;t appreciated just how important was Milkshake in that final quarter - huge.
  17. Even Prancer the Great struggles if the opposition midfield gets too free and deliver, though I doubt if Brooooossse would recognize that.
  18. They Who Shall Not Be Mentioned
  19. Was the said commentator sober? Weed could well take Jesse out for a goal kicking session .... classic smooth action.
  20. That from 'supporters' of the team carried by Burgoyne and Rioli for so long. Hypocrites.
  21. Agree 100% - it is actually quite pathetic that especially the commentariat on 25 April keep pumping up the Druggies and the Pies along the lines of emulating our ANZAC heroes. FFS what rot. Sure it takes some courage to even walk out onto an AFL field, but it is nothing even remotely like going out knowing you are going to be shot at and bombed perhaps over a few years if you are lucky enough to survive the initial onslaught, just for starters.
  22. No .... that was tears. Softened up by Viney in past encounters, and that was le coup de grace.
  23. So just maybe we will now "have earned" a few more Friday and Saturday night games than Carlton and St.Kilda. Still, it is Gillon and his pathetic band of acolytes who make the call, so I won't count my chickens yet.
