Agree 100% - it is actually quite pathetic that especially the commentariat on 25 April keep pumping up the Druggies and the Pies along the lines of emulating our ANZAC heroes. FFS what rot. Sure it takes some courage to even walk out onto an AFL field, but it is nothing even remotely like going out knowing you are going to be shot at and bombed perhaps over a few years if you are lucky enough to survive the initial onslaught, just for starters.

So just maybe we will now "have earned" a few more Friday and Saturday night games than Carlton and St.Kilda. Still, it is Gillon and his pathetic band of acolytes who make the call, so I won't count my chickens yet.

I must say I was very pleasantly surprised that the maggot didn't call it a block (as they did to Melks - was it the Power game?) which neither clearly were. And I loved the commentator (was it BT?) on 7 prattling on about the great torp but how the Hawks were going to capitalise on it .....sudden silence as we frenetically swept it forward for a goal.

A huge difference this year and especially in the latter half of the season is that we now have a TEAM ... not a bunch of talented individuals, but a cohesive team. Like Richmond, like Footscray 2016. Could achieve anything should this hold, and of course that always depends to a degree on luck and more so avoiding bad luck.

If they want to encourage longer kicking in after a behind how about NO MARK being awarded to the defending team until it clears the 50? Sure as hell that would get them emulating Sam Frost’s Friday night special and not risking little chips back and forth across the defense.

But, please, the tackle must be correct first. All too often the player who has the courage to go in and get it then gets taken high or in the back and gets pinged. THE CORRECTNESS OF THE TACKLE MUST TAKE PRECEDENCE. In my cynical mind, if the signal for incorrect tackle was as much a display of maggotrial flamboyance and ego as is the HTB waving of the arms, then it may be paid more often.

The HTB against Nev early on (? their* first goal) was disgraceful -- didn't even had it and was taken high. * their referring to Hawthorn plus the maggots Chamberpot is the kindest one I can think of, though they do of course have some purpose. Come to think of it ... maybe he does have the same purpose?
