  1. seconded, he never had an opponent in these matches, and was playing loose across the backline, in a losing team, where the ball was in our forwardline alot, you would think a loose man would get alot of the pill.
  2. scraped a draw with JCB, frees against and frees for are always my downfall!
  3. i want to see ricky bobby, smash out the handcuff salute every time he kicks a goal haha turning our back idea is ace!
  4. I have been thinking about the same thing and i think we have a few options, these are all provided that the rib injury to martin is not going to prevent him from playing this weekend, 1) if martin is able to play, we could play a rotating ruck system, with players such as Martin, Dunn, Newton, Warnock, Sylvia, but basically just running to the fall of the ball leaving the opposition no clear jump at the ball, this has to be done carefully because if eyes are on the opponent it is a free kick. We would be really trying to run hard and create with these players, making the ruckmen accountable, and avoiding the long kickout to a one on one with say Dunn and Goldstein. We would need to be moving the ball quickly and hitting these players on the lead often due to their athletic advantage. 2) play almost 4 midfielders and try to create a secondary stoppage, this is handy as in the secondary stoppage it is more of a wrestle, and although players will probably be out wrestled by a bigger opponent, we can use the third man up effectively, with players like watts, dunn and sylvia coming in from over the side trying to get the hit out or knocking it on to space. Flaw with this is that we are basically conceding the first hit out or trying to shark the opponents hit out which is much harder to do than receiving a tap from our ruckman. 3) Give Martin and Gawn a crack together, it is not like we are coming up against Sandi or Cox and really Petrie and Goldstein are fine players, but they are not the most formidable ruck paring, so basically we just send them out to have a crack, try and break even, but really work on creating a contest, and it also means that when kicking long out of defence we have a better marking option. This also could be done with Newton as a sub, and swapped at half time, barring a serious injury, this could work as he would have fresher legs and can jump and present frocing contest and the petrie or goldstein to chase him, maybe Campbell as the sub aswell, fitness wont be there but if he plays as the sub and plays half a game he can surely run it out and provide a good contest in the ruck. it will be interesting to see how Bails goes about it, this is really a test of his coaching and the depth to our side.
  5. macnamara is less of a loss, playing casey magoos haha
  6. i can recall both watts and addam maric playing in the backling in stages throughout vfl, aswell as watts playing on the wing, it is common place that players will be played in different roles to learn about the game, i.e, leading patterns, etc, but also to play defensively, chasing and tackling.
  7. and the rig of a 12 year old boy, sure he can jump but his 84 kilo frame jumping into someone 100 kilos + is only going to lead to another, and more likely longer term injury. My plan is we elevate Macnamara, let him elbow both petrie and goldstein behing play, he will only be suspended for two weeks, unless he elbows them while they are on the bottom of the pack it is then deemed as fair so he wouldnt get reported, he could kick them both in the nuts aswell only cop two weeks, possibly bump them out of play and break their jaw, no weeks, but whatever we do, do not tackle them! but the crux of it, newton, or martin would then dominate the ruck, and we would have a great combo of moloney/newton.
  8. this is regularly done to learn the ropes, watts played off the half back flank in his first season i know for certain, its more so to learn what to do, and where to lead etc
  9. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/two-game-ban-for-melbournes-jack-trengove/story-e6frf9jf-1226052693677 martin has injury cloud aswell, oh goodness
  10. OUT: Bate, Jamar, Grimes, Trengove IN: Newton, Martin, Bennell, Jetta/Evans/Macdonald (i cant decide)
  11. channel the spirit of stynesy and put it into big stef martin, lets get on it
  12. its definately a bit of a shake up, i knew we were in trouble when someone posted along the lines of "after this week looks like it will only be scully on our injury list" rough but interesting to see how we go about it, we may be able to work out of it i think..... probs go with martin, newton, and then dunn and sylvia and watts do their bits! rough week, but hoping we are up to it
  13. what irks me is adelaide will play dangerfield this week, and the reason he is reported was due to high damage, if dangerfield doesnt play for three weeks it would make the punishment somewhat acceptable, but still unreasonable at best, how he can get three weeks for that when two elbows behind the play only get 1 and 2 week suspensions!
  14. lower wages
  15. fingers crossed he will get off, but the mrp are rats, but how it gets more than the campbell brown elbow and the tambling elbow is rubbish.
  16. awful news i had him in -dream team -supercoach -ultimate footy -family top 3 for the bluey
  17. been convincingly beaten, grimes didnt help accepting offers on grimes also
  18. this is hardly true, they still played rutten on watts for a majority of the game and bate still did diddily squat, apart from that one time he layed a few tackles personally though i like dunn, i feel that he is a good player, and is far more important to our squad than bate, and he adds a bit of menace to our squad.
  19. agree, frustrates me so much, his kicking today was damaging, and had many score involvements, what more could he do?
  20. Green - up and about Warnock - average at best Jones - has great attitude Bartram - strong through middle Watts - great second quarter Gysberts - always showing more Frawley - marshaled the backline Trengove - tackles always stuck Sylvia - great second half Dunn - worked very hard Petterd - always provided contest Grimes - i may cry Maric - four quarter effort Garland - was rarely beaten Moloney - elite stoppage machine Jurrah - good last half Wonaeamirri - not his best Tapscott - strong all day Davey - finally got space Jamar - won all day Bail - my favourite player! Bate - worst on ground
  21. rough, probably the only one or two he did wrong, but im going to watch the match again from the tv to see if he screws up a bit more, but i think he was vital, i recall he had the two goal assists in the first quarter, and ill get back to it, but i think you have been particularly rough in regards to his decision making. secondly, the zone means certain players are placed in certain positions and have certain roles, and im assuming he is meant to be running and trying to rove or create space more offensively and block the space more so than play a hard defensive role,
  22. can only play who we played, but we controlled the ball and used it more often than not with precision, whereas everytime adelaide got the ball they looked rushed, due to our pressure.
  23. showing form from the preseason! stoked that he has done well, have always been a fan of maric, i just hope he can string a few of these together! also he was soo clean with his ball use, other than once or twice everything he did was damaging!
  24. beamer to walk into the first centre bounce with intent, and bump straight into scott thompson. tappy and frawls to get straight into tippet and walker as they walk into the 50, no stupid free kicks but a bit of body work! and intent, hard tackling, and when we do tackle that they stick, clean ball use, and one on one defence instead of the stupid zone off and not be accountable
  25. more he said if they want to put themselves out there, then they should be the people who stand up
