I work and play in Subi - I know that! Was just messing around and it grew legs! My goal is for Barrett to to drop it in on trade week radio. That would confirm that the AFL 4th estate is, indeed, a joke.

They have Horse racing and TV's in Perth too Binman. Came in back in '97 ;-)

How does he IP address on my phone sound? Or check the time of the original tweet and the bloke who wrote it? Or the dozen or so retweets? Or the 20 or Melbourne supporters that replied in minutes? Your mates full of it and he's made you look like an ass.

Right - enough of the fun and games. Background: I went to the TAB to collect my Saturday winnings and watch the Geelong Cup. On the way back I walked past Cale on the phone. After crossing the road I decided to take a quick pic and put it on Twitter speculating why he was in Subi. Of course lots of people took interest and it snowballed. Now, a few things. - yes it's Cale. Sorry I didn't take the zoom lens to the TAB. I'd like to think I've around Melbourne forums long enough to be trusted. I don't bullsh.t - the MFC twitter crew thought it would be a good social experiment to see how far this would go. We haven't been let down. The 2 threads on Big Footy are, interesting, though I don't like being called a troll. - finally Demon Forever - mate on holiday hey champ? You [censored]

I liked the way he sharked the ball. If he doesn't get a run on the ball straight away, I see him as a forward option. Don't be such a pain in the arse H - I watched a 2.30 video and made a comment. I have no idea how big he is, I have better things to do than analyse junior football.
-
Wines has got a young Shane Crawford/Scott West/Ben Cousins look about him. They all started in a forward pocket and did well because they knew how to get to the fall of the ball. I suspect Wines will have a similar impact before he gets a permanent run in the middle. Great reader, superb hands, but not sure about the foot. Looks accurate without being penetrating.

Is this Demonland or Punt Road End?? You don't win games in October. Nobody fears us, nor should they. Nor should it matter. and we most certainly aren't back. we've been dug out of the rubble, taken to the hospital and out of ICU. still on long way to go to full health. Lets win some games first and all the periphery stuff will fall into place.

Latest murmurings of a crazy time
Chook in Perth replied to Tolstoys Nudge's topic in Melbourne Demons
this started off as a great thread. now 20 pages of tripe....again sad. -
just don't expect 15 page threads. we're either not smart enough or too old to keep up.

I like the kid a lot, but thats just silly. You wouldn't trade him for Buddy? Wow
-
Haggers? dolt. the end.

What the hell do you want them to say about us? Lie and be positive? We ARE pathetic. How else can you describe it after the last 6 years? It can be turned round with hard work and savvy recruiting, but you can't hide from the recent past.

Be stuffed if I want my membership money paying for his QC. Port can get Denis Denuto to represent him.

Anyone who call racist when clubs think twice about recruiting indigenous players should STFU and look at what this club has been through in the last 4 years.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CAMERON PEDERSEN
Chook in Perth replied to Hannibal's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fancy a game of poker mate? -
FFS the body isn't even cold yet and you lot are dividing the assets?

1989 called it. Its wants its football knowledge back. Do you still yell "kick the bloody thing" Fence?

04, 05 and 06 all petered out to nothing. But for periods in those years, particularly 05, we were probably the best team in the comp. Lapses like losing to Carlton (wooden spoon) twice in 06 meant we finished 7th instead of 3rd. Thats where you can probably point the finger at Daniher. He had 200 game talent like Yze, Johnstone, White, Green and Bruce who were either inconsistent or wilted under pressure. he didn't get the best out of them often enough.
-
I'll try and get along to the pre game gig at the Subi room. I haven't attended a function there since the 2006 semi when I had words with Chris Fagan, called him an arrogant [censored] on Ology and ended up with a 3 month holiday. Might be time to have another crack. Hopefully the Coronas are still $5.
-
I'm no advocate of Daniher, but the the draft sanctions bit him on the arse at the time when we could have really set up to challenge in 05/06. Think about what a difference first round picks in 99/00 would have made 5 years later. Take it a step further and swap Luke Molan for Dal Santo and Steve Armstrong and Aaron Rogers for Sam Mitchell and Leigh Montagna. Not only do you have 750 games instead of 40 (sob) you've put a big dint in the St Kilda midfield. Footy is all about preparation and development. But every premiership team has had a bit of luck here and there along the way. Daniher was a poor tactician after 2000, but you could argue that he never had those little bits of luck required for the next step.

How's that comment working out for ya today champ?
-
I've surprised myself at how easy I've made the transition here. Not really missing Ology at all. The 95 page threads here do my head in. but otherwise I'm focused on keeping my "like" count above my post count. Concentrates the mind and stops me from writing mindless tripe on said 95 page spreads. RIP Ology you glorious bastard. PS: I hope Rono hasn't necked himself through frustration at losing his bragging outlet.

As I said, what was raised equates to less than 2% of our forecast revenue for the year. You're a smart boy Andrew, surely you can work out for yourself that we could pay the TPP comfortably without those extra funds? Like any business, if you invest cash in a certain area you need to cut down in others. often my boss (CFO) will give marketing some additional funds for a campaign. But those funds don't come from cash reserves - we take from another area of the business that can do without. You know where I work - we aint going broke.
-
Find it remarkable people think funds from the well to do is in anyway negative. If that was a major source of income you could rightly be worried. But $750,000 equates to less than 2% of our forecast revenue. Its tops up the coffers and allows some value adds we otherwise wouldn't have. Every club does similar things. Actually, every professional sporting club on the planet does it. Jesus, even political parties rely on the donations of the well healed. Coteries have been around for a generation now. They aren't there just to pat each other on the back. They raise funds. The only difference with the Foundation Heroes is they got publicity because 1. Jimmy was the public face, and 2. they retired debt at such an astonishing rate that whole football world sat up and took notice. Just no pleasing some people.

that game is a whole "what if" thread on its own. looking at you Spalding, Yeats, Eishold, Campbell and one other sitter that I've forgotten about.
