Normally that would be funny. But I've been waking up in the night to check the Hun, Age, twitter, Ology and Land for any news. My nerves are too frayed for any shenanigans. But well played sir.

He's not paying his membership.

In the Twitter era its all about being first, not right. The world moves so quickly now that no one remembers when false truths are uttered. This is precisely the reason semi literate knobs like Jon Ralph have managed to eek out a career.

Work before kids? Good bloke.

Tony Sheahan broke this a long, long time ago. In fact Neeld was still in the hotseat. he was widely derided on Twitter for this http://ynotmedia.wordpress.com/2013/05/08/paul-roos-a-demon/

This is the genius of Roos. His reputation alone will breed success. All of a sudden we're attractive to free agents. The Josh Caddy types who tell their manager "anyone but Melbourne" will view us very differently. Tangent - When James Packer buys stock, the market reacts. He could buy into Enron and they'd jump 30% that day. Doesn't make Enron profitable, but the Packer stamp is enough for the sheep to follow. Translate that to the football field and you have the Roos Effect. Yes, we're one of the all time worst teams. But that will be forgotten. When we go dangle $700k under (for eg) Daisy Thomas' nose we won't get an immediate, if polite, rebuke. We'll get careful consideration. you can't get out of the gutter with a financial advisor working out the Eastland carpark, which has effectively been Melbourne for 7 years. We have our Packer.

I've learnt in times like this to not buy into all the "inside" info. The tips to trust are those out of the blue and unremarkable. I like to think I've got some pretty decent contacts and have been close to the mark many times. But when the bush telegraph is covered in hubris its hard to know what's legit and whats eminated from the mind of 15 year old on Facebook. Literally everything is pointing towards this being a fair accompli. But we wouldn't be Melbourne supporters if the excitement wasn't tempered with some nervous pessimism.

Either it's all lip service delaying the inevitable, or you're right.

My father in law is a Superintendent. He's not, that's the extent of my knowledge. Most of the population is Australian last time I checked Sensus.

Mum and dad take you to Perth on holidays once did they? You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

I too am hearing the dream ticket of Roos, Tudor and Walsh is on.
-
Leigh Tudors name just keep popping up. (and I don't mean Sid Barrett on The Bogan Show). Christ I hope that mail is wrong.

Have heard Mr Schwab showed some interest in the various Footy Dept head roles on offer. Didn't get far.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Chook in Perth replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Chris Connolly was suspended for 12 months for telling a dumb joke about tanking. Hird orchestrated, sanctioned and oversaw a regime of unknown and/or undocumented substances into 40 young men. He seems likely to also receive a 12 month suspension. I can't read those two paragraphs and reconcile in my mind how this is possible, let alone just. -
Gerard Healy on 3AW has just claimed Neil Craig is Brisbanes preferred alternative to Roos.

Jesus the opposition would love it when we turn it over. They'd go coast to coast without either player getting out of jog.

We're already pond scum, can't make us worse. If he was fit enough I wouldn't say no to a rookie spot.

I was talking to an employee of Freos footy department last week. I asked about Melbourne. He commented that many in the industry believe Neeld and Misson have put too many endurance miles in their legs in the pre season. Upshot is a list of players who are sluggish over the first 5-10 metres. I mentioned Blease as a refute. He commented that endurance training is good for the really quick players, but if they aren't explosive to start with they'll end up sluggish. Trengove clearly in the latter category. With some high draft picks it feels like blind faith waiting for them to come on. I don't feel that way with Trengove. I think he will be a very, very good player. His awareness is already there, just needs to stop running in the shallows.

Glen Bartlett - new President of the MFC
Chook in Perth replied to stuie's topic in Melbourne Demons
This notion (Schwabism) that Bartlett is somehow a less than passionate demon is completely unfounded. He'd been on the earth for 22 years before the Franchise existed. he's Melbourne. Also, expect a gentleman by the name of Chris Lovell to be the next board appointee. -
I wasn't critiquing your spelling so much as the statement itself. What you have isn't new information.

Herd (sic) it here first? Yeah righto mate.

there's multiple roles in the Football department to be filled.

Expect some double news within 72 hours of Collingwoods exit from the Premiership race.

Was a game in Canberra that Morton did a number on Goodes, not the MCG Bruce/Dennis lovefest.

No it doesn't. If you're talking about a place to live healthily, prosper and bring up children, then you're right. It is absolutely no contest. Just not the result you think.
