  1. Haven't the rules changed and players have to go in the National Draft first?? No chance Blease to get to GWS if thats the case. Moot point anyway. He aint going anywhere.
  2. That list of players tells me that another manic pre season, combined with canny trading and a bumper draft, will see us go very close to playing finals next year. No point being upset about losing games this year. I couldn't give 2 shits whether we finish 10th or 18th. Its about putting the building blocks in place. The slab's down and the walls are coming up. Come late next year we'll be at lock up stage, ready for the fit out. Then its on.
  3. I see Lynch every week (unfortunately) and I think he's a hell of a footballer. He cops it from Victorians because he's a neanderthal. But the guys played 200 games at Full Forward, Centre Half Forward, the ruck and on a wing after starting in the backline. He's a great spare parts man. Can take a strong mark and is the biggest kick in the game. That said, he's too old for us. He's more of the Leigh Brown to Collingwood sort of recruit.
  4. "we'll take your best player, and you can have a speculative pick and one of a selection of our journeymen. Sound good?"
  5. Possibly. But 1st rounders who move clubs and come good usually go to a decent club where they can be role players. We don't need role players. We've got essentially a blank canvas. Hansen's an interesting one. No idea about his contract, but doubt he'd go anywhere purely because no club would value him anywhere what North would want. Bit like us - we wouldn't trade Morton for a 3rd rounder because that would be an admission we made a mess of a pick 4 (though that draft is looker weaker all the time)
  6. I look at that list and see a couple of quality players and a bunch of 1st round draft picks who did SFA to justify their selection
  7. you can start a thread>type in the thread title. But just can't post. some of the thread titles have been quite amusing, but suspect it has a short shelf life.
  8. I remember when you started posting. Typical teenager who felt the need to post in every thread with inane stuff like "I agree", "good point" "reckon we can win this week if the boys play well" etc. Gave me the shits! Then you evolved into a pretentious [censored] and grew up to be good bloke and very good poster. See this is the thing I'll miss about Ology. Got to know a bunch of strangers in that little community and we've all evolved and grown up (or old) together. Off the top of my head Nasher, Hatch, D2, KD, Couttsy, me and now Williamson (apologies to whoever I missed) have all married and had kids since we last played finals. So some people here might think we should just shut up, join in or go away but the fact is we've invested a lot of time, energy and emotion in that cracked out old site and if we want to talk about Ology this is the only place to do so. I've already moved on - Land isn't so bad when you give it a chance (the ignore function is a godsend). But others haven't and won't, and that shouldn't be held against them.
  9. life goes on. Pining for Ology is like missing a once great TV show that went on 2 seasons too long. One great thing about this site is the ignore function. I'm giving it a hiding.
  10. Reckon he plays footy the way Neeld likes it. But if these injuries have made him any slower its good night nurse.
  11. resistance is futile. Over and out.
  12. bugger it, I'm stupid enough to buy in. lets have a crack at this. Josh Hunt B- grade player, lucky enough enough to play in 3 premierships. Matthew Scarlett 6 time All Australian. One of the greatest full backs the game has seen. Tom Lonergan B- courageous fight back to play in a flag, but bottom 6 in anyones estimation Corey Enright A+ 4 time All Australian. star in anyones estimation Harry Taylor B+ mature age debutant, hasn't put a put wrong. One of the best contested marks in the game David Wojcinski B- Runs really fast, not much else to offer. Joel Selwood A++ Outside of Chris Judd put together the finest first 100 games in memory. One of the 10 best footballers in the game. Jimmy Bartel A+ Brownlow Medallist, Norm Smith Medallist, 2 x AA. thrives on the big stage. One word - champion Andrew Mackie B decent footballer, not a star, not a hack. Actually I've lost interest. I've only got to the centreline, but the points made. But just for clarity, theres another 13 players to go that I didn't get to. Of those 13 players theres 10 All Australian jumpers between. Like DA, you're now my favourite poster too.
  13. Good point. But given the age of their list I suspect they'd be trying to load up on quality kids. I just can't see any club using a top 10 pick for Boak in this draft. I want him and I think he's a super player. But top 10 should be reserved for the Pendlebury type talents. Then again the finances may dictate they can't afford to bottom out so trading picks for ready mades might be on the agenda. Destined to fail if thats the case.
  14. Troll. I've been called a lot of things on footy forums but never a troll. Nice one. "Firstly it was an opinion that a team of A grade players are more likely to win a premiership then a few stars and mediocre players" You didn't say that at all, but remarkably you're still wrong. Love to see this team of A grade players, none of whom are stars or mediocre. They must be Russian socialists all playing for a fixed wage.
  15. Does this site have year end awards?? this work of art must be short listed. remarkable. bravo.
  16. Pretty obvious where Collingwood are falling down this year and directly relates to Leroy himself. It all adds up to the Stefan Martin Experience wandering up Swan Street.
  17. Anyone who was in Darwin when we won by a point in 2010 saw Boak put in a performance that no Melbourne mid is capable of. he is a very, very capable player who will evolve into one of the best mids in the game. We won't have to part with pick 4 for him. That just doesn't happen anymore unless its Judd level. Particularly this year in a strong draft. Beams is a potential head case - I wouldn't take the risk for a bloke with 20 good games on his CV. Without wishing to sound like Bruce, you just get the feeling this October and November will define where we go in the next decade. Some hard decisions to be made on popular players. but if we're brave we might just fix up some of the mistakes Cameron and Prentergast made and have the chance to push for that elusive flag. If they get it wrong we're destined for another decade of what ifs.
  18. Not sure if that's a compliment or observation! Look I'm just used to how people would respond on Ology. They'd read the post and go "ok this is what he's heard and he's sharing it with us." They wouldn't question the merit, because it isn't an opinion to pull apart. And yes, I know this isn't Ology and I need to get over it, but FMD. Usually inside info (and you know what else came with that info) is appreciated, not dismissed by amateur Tommy Hafeys.
  19. plenty of players will leave this club at the end of the season. There will be several delistings. Those gentlemen can try their hand in the PSD or Rookie Draft and we wish them well. Prior to that all of those guys, and about 10 more, will be on the trade table. We will be open to moving any of these guys on. Some we'll be happy to trade for a ham sandwich, others only on the table if there's something unique coming in return (see pick 4, B McLean + change for C Judd, Sept 2007). Other than the auto delistings, those guys on the table who aren't traded will be offered new deals. Otherwise we'd be left with 35 kids, Jamar, Green and Rivers. Moloney will most certainly be on the table. Hell we nearly traded him last year coming off a B&F. Frankly his heart on sleeve, love the club crap is outweighed by his penchant for going out dressed like a Milanese catwalk [censored] and dragging along young guys with him. Not to mention his form, which reminds me of how Dean Jones came to average 45 for Australia: 89 one dig, 1 the next. continuously.
  20. I think we'd be closer to confirmation that Hay List is the second best sprint horse in the world, and in any other era would be regarded as an all time great. Probably behind Manikato and Vain, comparable with with Placid Ark and Schillaci, but ahead Apache Cat, Miss Andretti and TT of the modern day sprinters that come to mind. McNair's a very unlucky man to have such a magnificent race horse encounter a once in a century freak.
  21. They're not my thoughts sunshine. That what I was told by someone with impeccable contacts. So feel free to disagree, I couldn't care less what you think.
  22. I posted this in another thread yesterday, but this is probably a better place for it. Martin needs to wise up quick smart and sort things out. I've heard that despite his intelligence, he's a dumb footballer. Can't or won't take instructions and takes criticism poorly. He doesn't get Neeld's game plan - runs into the wrong positions and brings his opponent into play too often. This results in a tendency to go into his shell. If the season ended now he'd be on the trade table.
  23. Gutted. Absolutely gutted. Not for the supporters, or even the club. I'm gutted for him. He took all the flak he copped over the summer and was on the way to an All Australian season. Given our draw he would have ended with 70 goals.
  24. or for the simpletons, one will be Brendan Goddard and the other Matthew Lloyd. I don't know that Cameron will be significantly better. Watts has a pretty high ceiling if he can continue to find the will to contest for the footy. Camerons development could be stifled by lack of ball over the next couple of years. But he has courage, skill and poise in spades. He'll be a superstar - an assessment that has as much to do with Jack Watts as Jack Hawkins (which I'm sure you were trying to get across).
