I would (reluctantly) agree with you, if: A, I didn't think he has four solid years of football left. B, Firmly believe we will be contesting for a premiership in the next four. C, Think he will help us get that tin mug. 2m Peter would have to be plugger or dermie for me to want to make that trade. But we are not a team looking to rebuild, we are a supercar warming up the tires. Annoying cliche to finish, 'the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence'.
  2. By era: Warne-Smith- bias here, but until the 80's he was in all the top ten lists, 50 years after he played, Bunton, Coventry etc described him as their best opponent. Hard as nails and then there is his time as Chairman of Selectors working with Smith in the 50's Barassi-Our Michael Voss but better. Obviously there is unanimous consent on this so i won't bore further... Flower- Supremely skilled, lay down flush. Again consent on RF. Stynes- Lion heart, what an amazing human. He could've the bloke from 'unbroken', just never gives up... Smith and Hughes would obviously get gigs as coaches, I went players only. Stiff: Many; Neitz, Adams, Allan La Fontaine - Captain of a hat trick of premierships ffs.

Utter madness, (and not the ska music kind) Tmac is a machine with his cardio fitness and size. He also prospered under every coach, is not a sook, and had one tough season for injury. Hardest player to replace.
  4. If I could make just one change it would have been Wight from 1994 for Nicholson 2000. I went 2000, thought it was a little more even.
  5. Looked pretty bloody happy during the 2018 finals run on the telly. I got a huge kick out of seeing blokes like Neitz and White et al, totally rapt with the two wins.
  6. Cannot agree, used to be the best of the tap beers. Selling CUB was the sin! Is 46deg here in Djibouti a.t.m. what I wouldn't give for a Coopers red label right now though. Is Furphy made by the same mob that put out that horrible Geelong bitter?
  7. I have enough of an ego that I would have claimed it if I had called it. I wad initially neutral about it, mainly (and I must confess), because I hadn't seen that much of him, but my brother who has much more of a clue about all things footy was positive, and when I saw his highlights I was as excited as watching Oliver's draft video. The other thing was I remembered (and posted) that Lyon had good things to say about him as a bloke and I thought that was worth something, even if Freo didn't work out. (Btw is it just me or does Freo suck at getting value out of recruiting from other clubs, they seem like the ultimate farm club for mine, well until Adelaide...)
  8. Reread page 1 of this thread, ample servings of humble pie coming up.
  9. Nailed it...
  10. So can we donate more and nix the ads? Its one of the reasons i stay off big footy.
  11. Bloody hate the way they make a racket basketball style after goals, American garbage, we don't need a canned soundtrack. They could track tweeted feedback.
  12. Good bit of vision of the Chairman of Selectors, Ivor Warne-Smith sitting with Smith, confidant and foil (and occasionally sparring partner) I always heard that the match committee was described as the architects of the premierships, they were to a man, humble and worked as a team. This back office coordination I feel had something to do with how the team ran well. The same people who described this to me, moaned endlessly about how amateur the club became/stayed when the league went professional, and how much the end of the match committee affected stability of the back office.
  13. Must have shares in Weetbix, seriously can you imagine the grocery bill.
  14. With some apologies but I always thought Brad was our Corey Mckernan, was capable of so much, and had some truly stellar moments, but when I look at the whole of his career I wanted more. That said a good servant of the club, and I’m not worthy to tie his shoelaces.
  15. Wight but like many others, there is a sliver of a bee's old fella in it... his ariel duel with Gary Snr which I saw was a thing to behold. Whelan was lethal and skilled and I loved his heart dearly. To me when Wheels dropped off that was when our defensive side of the game went to garbage. But Wight was a god, he could do magic, even when giving away weight and height to some real gorillas. On a side note I still get around on roller blades, like Wight did. Great work out, spares the knees.
  16. He had an appetite for a big mark against the WCE, could use that. I have always loved the way Robbo, loves the club, gets brownie points for that too.
  17. Such different roles, I thought the poll was more about how you felt about the player, am sorry but talking about whether we are a hard club with the tight mentality or not, is kind of missing the point of this light hearted exercise (though making a choice causes me more than a little angst) there are enough other posts to lament about the state of the clubs w/l.
  18. Love them both, went with White, whimsically wanted Woey.
  19. Looking at the votes to come, I would argue the swearing filter is dropped. Seriously malicious choices going head to head in the first round, White vs Whelan is a particular kicker...

Nah, go hard as, they all have 4 to 6 to get over any injuries. Make the trip worthwhile, far from a junk game, show how hard you worked for this season.

It's like Notre Dame is burning all over again...
  23. Yeah but the Rose in Fitzroy, great banter to be had. The Napier and the Standard are also dens for footy lovers, who are willing to have a non rabid conversation about the game, regardless of creed, miss them like hell.

I know this is swearing in church, but I rate Buckley, he has definitely brought on some players. Supporters are also appalling, but that said I hate Weagle, Crow and Essendon (in that order) supporters more... what to do...
  25. I actually was thinking that we might see some exceptional skills, somehow less pressure, from having no live audience, results in a greater DE. Like in practice when they nail 20 set shots in a row. My dream is that ANB suddenly turns into Dusty;-)
