  1. Loved all the shoutouts he gave, his Mum, Ross, his agent, beyond I reckon what he would be taught to do, sounds like honest appreciation, suggests he is a quality bloke beyond being a brilliant footballer. Also just by the by but Ross always had wraps for HB as a bloke and a footy player. If HB had been able to get up sooner I reckon he'd still be coaching.
  2. This thread could have many better titles, the Waleed Ali thread for instance, whats that loud ticking sound I hear??? Like the crocodile in Peter Pan... Why it's the mods about to shut it down, I can feel the fingers quivering.
  3. Maybe, but Demonstone is a Border Collie to your Pekingese.
  4. Zoom, FB, whatsapp, vizeo, not fussed, send a PM if you are keen. So far participants are passionate optimists, whoever wants that particular type of tea.
  5. Underwear minimum! It will be early here in Djibouti, have already made clear to my French family that the big tv is mine for the morning, no japanese anime cartoons etc.
  6. So just an idea, not particularly novel but thought I'd mention it anyway I'm watching with a mate in Switzerland and thought what would it look like with a larger crew and i could see reactions from other supporters. I am more than a little cautious about possible meltdowns considering how much we love each other generally, but am semi inclined to give it a go. Any interest?
  7. Tears of joy here, clapping, and cheering and feeling amazing, this is a fair dinkum movie script. I hate to go early but we will SMASH Carlton, our man HB with 4 goals. So proud of my club, very very proud.
  8. Am more than happy about Bennell but Rivers and Jackson, so soon? Really want to see a team list I'm feeling like it's a praccy match and not a 4 pt game.
  9. Do you mean Jetta in 12 months time? I'm pretty sure over the last 5 years Betts average against Jetta is .3 of a goal a game.
  10. If he plays you can expect ratings to peak early, reckon there will be alot of interest, I think it has been said before but this is 'The Natural' all over again. Am so so excited, MFC should be proud of the staff for getting him on the field. The thing is if he stays fit he will be top ten in the bluey, his skills are sublime and his delivery will allow others to play to their strengths.
  11. Love Nev, looking forward to seeing him in all his majesty. 150 Nevs in the stand, great idea.
  12. I would (reluctantly) agree with you, if: A, I didn't think he has four solid years of football left. B, Firmly believe we will be contesting for a premiership in the next four. C, Think he will help us get that tin mug. 2m Peter would have to be plugger or dermie for me to want to make that trade. But we are not a team looking to rebuild, we are a supercar warming up the tires. Annoying cliche to finish, 'the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence'.
  13. By era: Warne-Smith- bias here, but until the 80's he was in all the top ten lists, 50 years after he played, Bunton, Coventry etc described him as their best opponent. Hard as nails and then there is his time as Chairman of Selectors working with Smith in the 50's Barassi-Our Michael Voss but better. Obviously there is unanimous consent on this so i won't bore further... Flower- Supremely skilled, lay down flush. Again consent on RF. Stynes- Lion heart, what an amazing human. He could've the bloke from 'unbroken', just never gives up... Smith and Hughes would obviously get gigs as coaches, I went players only. Stiff: Many; Neitz, Adams, Allan La Fontaine - Captain of a hat trick of premierships ffs.
  14. Utter madness, (and not the ska music kind) Tmac is a machine with his cardio fitness and size. He also prospered under every coach, is not a sook, and had one tough season for injury. Hardest player to replace.
  15. If I could make just one change it would have been Wight from 1994 for Nicholson 2000. I went 2000, thought it was a little more even.
  16. Looked pretty bloody happy during the 2018 finals run on the telly. I got a huge kick out of seeing blokes like Neitz and White et al, totally rapt with the two wins.
  17. Cannot agree, used to be the best of the tap beers. Selling CUB was the sin! Is 46deg here in Djibouti a.t.m. what I wouldn't give for a Coopers red label right now though. Is Furphy made by the same mob that put out that horrible Geelong bitter?
  18. I have enough of an ego that I would have claimed it if I had called it. I wad initially neutral about it, mainly (and I must confess), because I hadn't seen that much of him, but my brother who has much more of a clue about all things footy was positive, and when I saw his highlights I was as excited as watching Oliver's draft video. The other thing was I remembered (and posted) that Lyon had good things to say about him as a bloke and I thought that was worth something, even if Freo didn't work out. (Btw is it just me or does Freo suck at getting value out of recruiting from other clubs, they seem like the ultimate farm club for mine, well until Adelaide...)
  19. Reread page 1 of this thread, ample servings of humble pie coming up.
  20. Nailed it...
  21. So can we donate more and nix the ads? Its one of the reasons i stay off big footy.
  22. Bloody hate the way they make a racket basketball style after goals, American garbage, we don't need a canned soundtrack. They could track tweeted feedback.
  23. Good bit of vision of the Chairman of Selectors, Ivor Warne-Smith sitting with Smith, confidant and foil (and occasionally sparring partner) I always heard that the match committee was described as the architects of the premierships, they were to a man, humble and worked as a team. This back office coordination I feel had something to do with how the team ran well. The same people who described this to me, moaned endlessly about how amateur the club became/stayed when the league went professional, and how much the end of the match committee affected stability of the back office.
  24. Must have shares in Weetbix, seriously can you imagine the grocery bill.
