  1. Have as many go's as you like hardtack. My reasoning is they have big debts, falling membership, falling attendances and desperate need under a new Coach and Chairman to get the season off to a good start as early as possible. While I think the MFC need a good start for a number of equally as good reasons I am confident the MFC / FD do not agree. I think we will see a lot when the teams are announced. I expect Port to name as strong a squad as possible. I expect us to name a squad with a far greater number of new / untried AFL players . I am keen to see the sides
  2. I am far from convinced we are taking this seriously And as I think we saw last week when we take out a few of the better players we still struggle. We are still short of having a good list. Port beat us twice last year I have seen little to suggest the relative lists have changed enough to expect a reveresal Lets see the teams before get over excited
  3. This is a very nice thread. I am not intentionally trying to change it But I do not care how nice they are. As long as they are good players that can win games for the MFC and get us up the ladder I don't care. The rest is nice but beyond my needs. Just win games guys then you have my love.
  4. They are only kids rpfc a number have yet to play a real AFL game. Not expecting a lot but it will depend on how serious Port are about winning. I suspect they need to win badly in their situation. If so I think we will be lucky to keep the loss under 5 goals.
  5. Park on the other side of the river in Alexandra ave. Cost $2 and walk across the bridge. Takes 5 minutes if you walk slowly.
  6. Must be the hardest place in southern Australia to get to. The quick answer is no. Interesting in today's Hun we won one. Story on Simon Buckley and his poor driving record and they listed him as X Collingwood player
  7. Guys we can all bleat as much as we like. The footy has started the media has no interest, it is yesterdays news. All over we have been treated poorly but nothing more will happen. End of story
  8. bb I am about to commit suicide by naming them. With a couple of proviso's The gods will fall upon me but here goes. Davis - Has had plenty of time and cannot kick Nicholson - Fast and gets the ball but cannot kick Jetta - has had a lot of injuries but he will need a big 2013 to justify keeping IMO Bail - cannot kick J McDonald - cannot kick Davey - past it I think and contract up at 30+ Fitzpatrick - had a long time on the list and little to show he can make it at AFL level. In danger group Tapscott - have yet to see what he brings besides aggression Sylvia - Probably off under free agency Gawn- needs to prove his body can stand up to AFL football this season. Now I will wait for the wrath of Demonland to descend.
  9. Were they still there in the 80's wyl. I would have thought they went earlier. But I will bow to your knowledge
  10. be as critical as you like Bossdog The comment is based on at the end of the 2012 season we had IMO at best 20 players that were AFL standard or of a quality that would allow us to play finals football. We changed 14 for season 2013. There are a couple like Rivers that walk because they wanted out that I am confident we would have kept. That leaves 6 - 8 at min. that IMO need to be moved on at the end of 2013. Lets not kid ourselves the list is still far from wonderful
  11. Discussing Blease is plain depressing CB. Happy to stay of topic.
  12. I don't believe in curses, bad luck etc Redleg But gee do we every get a good break. It just shows how important it is to have good depth in your list. Another 7-8 need to be changed again at the end of 2013
  13. Yes I do mate. Do you remember the traffic lights having big circles on top showing how long the cycle was before green changed to yellow etc. God I am old!
  14. Spot on Boss dog but if you do the comparison on Petrol it was way cheaper than it is today. I can still remember the week I cleared $100 / week I thought I was set for life. Interesting that if you compare the cost of cars and petrol in the 70's Cars are much cheaper ( and Better ) now but Petrol is much more expensive.
  15. You have bought a tear to my eye wyl And petrol was 45 cents a gallon or 4 cents a litre. Arh the good old days.
  16. "CC Hit" that may go into history as the phrase for the Martyr In football.
