Luv it Mr. Shadow
-
The simple fact is that the AFL won't maintain the lower teams in these games unless they perform. We never looked like winning last year. If this year is the walk over it looks like being then the pressure will be on in 2020.
-
Whatever way you look at it is a sideshow to Anzac Day. If we don't start making these games a contest we will lose it to another side. We had better play well in 2020.
-
Covered it well bb. The real event is tomorrow this is just a side show.
-
Again I find myself in 100% agreement RN.
-
It is not about effort or enthusiasm it is about skill and speed. We are seriously lacking both at the moment. Too many VFL level skill players in the side and we have recruited a team of inside tough players in recent years who are mainly slow by nature. Then add a few players who are clearly over the hill and should have retired last year and you have the receipe for our performances this year. The 666 change has left our recruiting bare of fast outside players. Of course our list of injured players has not helped. We will need to add speedy players over the next couple of years or another decade of mediocrity awaits.

That would require a different coaching approach SWYL so good luck.
-
Me too WJ, and a similar result in a sporting sense will unfold tonight.
-
I think it is quite funny I think it is quite funny Mr. Shadow, it was true back then but now we don't need to tank.
-
Difficult to disagree with your view rjay. Like you I don't think any of us know if he can coach or not but with the way things have gone since the prelim loss I am wondering. Saw him on TVs tonight defending Lewis and McCartney. He has firmly attached his wagon to them which one could say was showing loyalty to the troops. But if the form of Lewis and the team continues and the comments about McCartney keep coming he might find himself in a difficult position come August.
-
What proof do you have of that?
-
You are not alone.
-
We have actually wasted three rjay, we extended Goodwins contract before a kick of the 2019 season had happened. If a review at the end of 2019 says we have the wrong coach then tough we have him till 2022 and we do not have the resources to pay him out. As for Pert he was too busy with the BS plan to build a ground in Yarra park, pity he was not looking at how we finished 2018.
-
Did you miss " might" . We will never know with the game plan of bombing it long and high. That is quite obviously not high on his skill list. Why bother playing a guy who cannot operate in that environment. Either change the delivery or change the player.
-
I am no Weid fan but if they continue to bomb it in then we might as well clear the kid to a team that will give him a chance with reasonable deliver. I feel sorry for him as we are killing what might be a good career. If I were him I would have my agent hot on the heels of offers from other sides he will never make it at the MFC with the current game plan.
-
Sadly LH it will be a 10 goal loss. We just have too many VFL quality players in the side at present. So we will no doubt lose this spot and quite rightly so.
-
Correct Mr. Leg. They are diametrically opposed to the MFC who almost always disappoint. Just about to construct a banana and peanut butter sandwich. But sadly I am not sure I can eat the required number of bananas to counter the MFC sadness.
-
Seldom have the words professional and MFC gone together in the last fifty years there have been short periods like when PJ and Roos where together but generally not for the vast length of that period. First Roos left and then PJ and since we have gradually wound back to situation normal with Goodwin and now Pert. I still wonder what the rush was to renew Goodwin's contract. It is not as though he was likely to be seduced by another club. Oh well it is back to normal with another season over before we get to May. Go Dees!
-
Fortunately I only have a few more years to endure DF.
-
Turning into a great swap for Hogan.
-
We can forget these two for 2019, along with Vanders they are shot. Start preparing them for 2020. We will be in the bottom four by the time they have any chance of playing so why bother.
-
Agree with most of this HaH however there is little damage to our brand as it has been poor for half a century. It is hard to damage something that does not exist.
-
You have it covered perfectly.
-
Well a belting is coming DJ. It is simple, we have too many VFL talents in the team at present. If the defeat is less than ten goals I will be amazed.
-
Sadly swyl you probably don't have any choice. And we have plenty of practice at surviving them as supporters this is familiar ground. Besides what is the alternative? Leave the fold? It won't happen so chin up and accept the inevitable.
