That is what seperates those that win flags from the MFC. We never seem to see the obvious. The Weid will never be a 50 goal a year KPF and TMac has never looked like being one either. We deleted Hogan with the hope both would make significant improvement. Hope seldom gets the result as we are seeing.
-
You have my vote Mr. Leg, add we deleted a 50 goal KPF with no replacement in sight.
-
Correct 2020. I have the same problem as you but the stark reality is 2019 is already spent. Until we get a few of the injured back we will not win games against most of the competition. The sad reality is even with those back it is not a GF winning squad. Like you and many others a flag will not happen until we are in the ground.
-
Agree R N. So there are two of us who think we need a KPF. We cleared a good one and have no replacement.

Only twice in the last thirty years has the side that lost the first three games played finals. Ominous record to break when we have such poor form and a long injury list that will not improve much in the next month. I looked at the fixture today and the only game I have any confidence we will win before the break is the GCS game. Start thinking 2010 for finals and hope like hell when we get those injured back we can have a more pleasurable second half with a few wins.

You don't need to to have killed someone to know how to commit murder ADD. Practise matches show form is important as it shows up the same problem as the last three matches. What they show is we have been doing the same things for 5 games in a row. If we keep doing it next Thursday that will be four games and two practise matches before that. Surely that shows you there is a theme to be very concerned about. As for the wonder coach the buck stops at his desk. The problem with taking the ups and downs is it has been 95% downs for the last half a century, it is almost like the way we are performing this year is in our DNA, a little success one year then crap the following year.
-
Imo it largely won't matter who we pick as they will not increase the skill level above Friday night. We will only show better results when the likes of VDB and Lever return. Until then we will get more of the last five games. However I would try Keilty and / or Preuss, we need someone in the forward line who can stand their ground and take a grab.
-
But you have to get the ball first. He will be played a lot this year no matter what his form. They are trying to see if he is worth a spot beyond 2019.

Where it has even for the last 50 years bb. In the wilderness, best we can hope for is to win enough games to threaten eighth and win the occasional big game.
-
Some truth in that DV8. Last year we were a eighth or ninth placed team that fell into the finals and caught a couple of sides off balance. Since then we have had injuries and have not replaced Hogans 50 goals.
-
Not far bb.

The defence is IMO not as bad as the forward line, the forwards give the backs nothing to defend. The Weid is not emerging he has emerged and what you have seen this year is what you are going to get. The odd good game followed by 4 where he struggles to have an impact.
-
Me to DJ as this year is already spent, also interested in who we recruit for the forward line. We desperately need to replace Hogan.
-
I worked hard at science and did well Jaded but I was in no danger of becoming a rocket scientist. At best he is a hard working average coach. He has been caught out dramatically by the change to 666. Saw no need to change the way we play and now we can see the result.
-
The side that played on Friday night had 6 players who are VFL level talents playing and a couple who are now over the hill. The list is not as good as you think. Yes we have some injuries but the back up players are not good enough. There were reasons off the field for clearing Hogan but we have no one to fill his forward spot and where are going to get his 50 goals from I have no idea. IMO we are and eighth or ninth placed side when we have a full list and most play well. we are in no danger of playing in a GF this decade.

Goodwin rejects notion that Dees list is compromised.

Too slow for that job he would not get away from the defenders and he is a poor kick for goal. -
Might be a fast watch ET!

Don't be ashamed, whatever it takes to remain sane as an MFC supporter.

Right now the Hogan May deal looks very ordinary we don't have the talent of either. -

Agree Tricky, the simple fact is it is only the players who can win the game in the end. However the instructions / game plan sure helps. -

Are they not the same? -
When the results are on board ( 5 easy losses in a row ) you can see we are travelling poorly. Then you look at the side and see the better players in poor form and add in too many players with vfl level ability in the side you know the result is going to be similar to the last five games. If hoping things will change based on hoping only Is what keeps you happy then good. My experience of following the MFC over the last half century is that hoping seldom if ever works. I prefer to deal with reality as I see it.
-
So you think things are Rosie AF? Have you noticed how easily we have been beaten in the last five games?
-
I don't think that will get it done.
