You make a lot of sense Deevoted. Lets not throw the baby out with the bath water just yet.

If he were to put in another game like Essendon he might be a chance to miss out. But we have carried him through some poor games up till now so why would we stop now. It is more likely after round one IMO. A loss to the swans and a poor one from Watts would be the receipe for a game at Casey.

I agree, one disagreement does provide grounds for jumping out of the arrangement. If that was the case most marriages would struggle to make it past the first month. Lets all take a breath and get on with it!

I am not joking we are all getting worked up about things that probably won't happen. At Sandy and Casey there have always been cases where their team selection took priority over MFC needs. That is what happens when you have an alliance and not your own team. Why do Geelong and Collingwood have their own teams? So they can get their own way all of the time! We along with most other sides cannot afford one so lets get on with doing the best with what we have. By its very nature an alliance will always have differences of opinion. Sometimes that means you have to "suck it up" this is one of those occasions.

yes if we get belted ( which is a possibility based on recent form and our efforts against the hawks in recent times ) It will do wonders for our membership drive!!!!!!!!!! The Casey thing is a small annoyance, a big loss to the hawks will hurt more.

IMO This is all a storm in a tea cup! Fev will be there for at the most 1 season, He will not be fit enough till at least round 3 -4. If he shines he will find a home elsewhere in 2012, problem gone. There is always the chance he will go back to his old ways and Casey will fling him, problem gone As for having our own reserves side, no chance this side of five years. We simply cannot afford one. It also appears to me that The MFC have so far got more out of the deal than Casey The last two years we have left Casey hi and dry with almost no MFC players avialable after they made the finals. Lets worry about the game tomorrow!

Me too Current all looks and no action. Hope I see the real thing on the park soon!

Here is a big prediction Folks "Campbell will not play a game for the demons at AFL level!" Reason: big guys with poor injury records do not get over serious Achilles problems easily. I have the feeling our gamble with him we be a flop. Probably not a big loss however dissapointing he may not get on the park.

For the next 11 rounds then decision time arrives! In the same way it does for a lrge number of the players every year.

Oh please get your head out of your posterior! The guy has coached two different teams in two different eras to Premierships plus a number of grand final appearances. He got an inferior side into two GF's against one of the best sides of the last 50 years and almost pinched one. The guy can cut the mustard. He is welcome any time at the MFC for mine.

Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
old dee replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't get too excited it is not over the line yet! -
No C&B he will be great in 2015 problem is will I be alive to see it!

Everything you say is correct. However I had hoped we had improved on this time last year but it appears we have not gone very Far at all. Thats what worries me. It appears that some of the problems of the last three years are still there eg. over using the ball in defence. Why you would handball to a play in a worse position than your self never ceases to annoy me. A close tag on Davey makes him useless. Slow starts, when are we going to come out fired up from the first bounce? God I hope you are right "carn the dees" because it looks like a long season to me!
-
I know it is only a practise match but it may be another long year! we should have done a lot better remember the Essendaon side had 6 of their best on the side lines. There is a very old saying "When the going gets tough, the tough get going" And once again Bennell, Jetta and Watts were not in the hunt. There is a familar pattern emerging there! I might add they had a few mates. e.g. our captain one of the worst efforts he has put in for some time. You would thing I would be used to this by now, but I am not I hate loosing to ordinary sides by 39 points.

You are right Demonator done to death and I don,t mind the latest white away strip. You never know it might be red one day and not pink.

Ray could play a bit, he left at an early age to return to Tasmania. From memory I think was the Premier of Tasmania at one stage.
-
Never quite sure what you can take from The injruy lists on club web sites! They usually take liberties with the truth However the first two worry me. Foot injuries in big guys are often disasters just look at Messen the last two years. Campbell was always a big gamble and he was the last rookie taken but it does not look good Achilles injurys are shockers. I serious doubt we will see either until mid year and Campbell might be never.

How about another amalgamation with Brisbane. 3 million loss last year 5-6 players of AFL standard, NO CEO and none on the horizon. north has a good CEO and their players would bolster the lions, You never know it might make the Brisbane /Fitzroy / North team a finals contender! Worried about the jumper and emblem though not sure how we get all that to work out. Perhaps they could play as the Lions in Brisbane and the Roos away! Then in another 10 years we could send the failed GWS venture up there as they will need another rescue by then.
-
Good question HT but perhaps an even better one is will the AFL have the umps in red and black like last friday night. Can they screw it up more the St. Kilda red, white and black, Essendon Red and Black and umpires red and black! Who wants to be against Melbourne in the white clash jumper?
-
I agree Too C&B he who is without fault cast the first stone! I just feel sad such a great talent has been wasted! Hope he can gets his life in order for the first time! Don't really blame the Lions they really in the end had no choice, it was a Voss based disaster. God only knows why he thought it was worth all the trouble two years ago. In the end it will probably cost him the job at the lions.

The biggest Challenge for the DEES, we have not won there when we had good sides. However 2011 is the year. The Cats are IMO on the way down. A couple injuries and we have them by the throat. If we can win in Adelaide ( admittedly a mickey mouse game ) anything is possible!
-
That is my point I think he does it purposely to get the members off their bums and into action.
-
Sorry to disagree C&B but I think Brisbane might actually take that honour at present! No CEO and cannot find one. $3 million loss from last year. Salary cap that is full and they cannot make offers to their 3 best young players because the Favola farce. A coach who's decisions on recruiting have result in a low quality playing group. e.g. They take Trapper and we get Grimes as a result! Five ageing stars that will not be around in 2 years time. On that basis the Rooos look positively healthy.
-
We were the same 3 years ago and Jeff said similar things including we should become GWS or the West Sydney Demons. I think he trys to stir up member support. Any way I hope they survive in some form!
-
I actually have a lot of sympathy for the shin boners! They are fighting against the odds with a low membership and little money. Surely as Dees suporters We all know how that feels. And remember they have had a lot more success than us in the last 40 years. They are my "second team" and one of the few I do not feel bad about losing to. Lets Have a little grace and Sympathy for the Roos.
