  1. You have my vote! why is the guy untouchable? In his time with Melbourne he has shown me very little except the souls of his feet. Gold Coast can over pay him if they like.
  2. You have got to be kidding why is Watts the only player that cannot be dropped? Why don't you say "Don't drop Jetta he won't learn anything at Casey" The greatest load of rubbish I have heard. He does not deserve his spot and should be dropped to Casey next week. He is playing terrible and should not be in the senior team. He has a lot of mates I might add. There should be 5 changes next week, don't ask me which 5 because there at least 10 candidates.
  3. So in your opinion what is main claim to fame?
  4. God I hope he is right! I am running out of years and 49 years will be a long time between drinks.
  5. Not sure what why people have the hots for Cheney. I have seen him a number of times at Casy and a few times he has played in the seniors. He is a goer and always gives 100% but he is just a little short in the speed area, Unfortunately he is a good VFL player who is a battler at Senior level. IMO he will never be more than stop gap guy when the injury list lenghtens.
  6. I wont cope with a loss. To loose means we have not come very far at all, Adelaide are poor, we have to win this if it is played on the moon. if we loose and then play St Kilda we will be 4.5 wins from 14 games does not look like much improvment to me.
  7. We have taken a few steps forward but still have a long way to go. Look who we have beaten! No one of consequence, not one of our victims is a danger to the finals this year. If we have improved on last year knocking over Adelaide is a must. they are below us and have IMO a poor side that is not playing well. The only option is a win, if we cannot beat Adelaide then the number of wins we get in the next 10 weeks looks a low number.
  8. But then if selected against Adelaide they get no rest! Have no idea what the rules are in this area does any one know?
  9. I agree I think his is fairly accurate. Our success rate is only 38% add a bit for the game we lost because of bloddy pink umpires and 5/10 looks good to me. I am however fearful for the next ten games, we have to win on the weekend. This is a team below us with a poor side we must win this one wether it is in Adelaide or not. In front at quarter time is in my opinion the key, only the very best sides can give starts and still win and we are far from one of the best sides at present. In this second half of the season only wins count. No more honourable losses!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Not surprised, back on Tuesday I said Junior and Sylvia were no certs to get back. I mentioned in the lead up to the Collingwood game that Sylvia would not play. He has had a very seriousd injury, I sure most do not appreciate how serious it was. Why wife and a friend both work in the medical industry and both said to me he will be out for 3-4 weeks when it first happened their words have been proven correct.
  11. What makes everyone think there will be changes! Sylvia was not in great form before he had the toe problem, does he deserve to go straight back in? I agree with a few posters Junior may well be rested another week, he is not a spring chicken any longer. If one of Sylvia or junior is in I think the drop out will be Jetta, thought he was average. If two back then outs are Jetta and either one of Scully or Trengove, I feel their form has dropped off since Perth. A run with Casey will do them no harm. Whoever it is will be stiff IMO!
  12. "and Melbourne seems to have just about all the right ingredients on and off field for that elusive premiership." I agree with almost all you have said however I strugle with the above from No.5 Our Forward line is not within a bulls roar of producing a premeirship. It will not consistently kick large scores in 2011 or 2012 unless we find somewhere A KPF like Franklin.
  13. Which is who? I see no one at Melbourne that could kick 10 goals in a game now or in the next few years.
  14. Like your confidence! However Watts should be compared to Franklin. Does anyone have the information on how he was travelling at the same age or number of games? Franklin is a game breaking CPF that is what we need from Watts.
  15. I find myself agreeing with you again Titan. "NO" Our forward line is not up to kicking decent scores on a consistent basis. It will have its days out but not enough to make the eight.

    buddy

I agree Titan and he is why Hawthorn won a flag a couple of seasons ago! Unless you have someone in your team like him you will struggle to get past 7 - 8th place. In most Hawthorn games they know he is going to come up with a few big plays every week.He can turn a game on his own. Unfortunately there is no one remotely close to Franklin at the Demons now or anyone young who gives me any confidence they will be in the future. I know the Franklins of the world do not grow on trees but without one I fear we are destined to be a 5- 6 th team at best. Which is of course a lot better thatn last.
  17. I went to the game and have to say it was a poor experience, The Casey had a lot of the better Melbourne players out today but it was a poor effort. I went especially to watch Spencer, Contary to your thoughts I thought he broke even in the first half but was struggling by the end of the third quarter. Having said that he had a lot of mates, I could not believe the number of times Casey players went to ground the comparison to Willy was amazing! On todays effort I could not see one MFC player who earnt his spot in the Casy team let alone a spot at Melbourne. Unless there are injuries we do not know about no one will get in after their displays today. I would agree with your thoughts above "Sylvinator". Wona looks over weight to me and IMO he has played 3 -4 good games at Melbourne the next two months I think might be make or break for him. He has played little in last two seasons and a lot of players with similar size / ability have arrived at Melbourne and IMO have past him by. It was Fitzy first game He deserves a lot more time before we will know his true ability and I doubt that JC would have looked good in that side today. LJ showed up in a few passages but he spent most of the first half in the forward so did not see a lot of the ball, the skills were still there so do not worry about him. He needs 2 - 3 weeks to get match fit. Strauss I will cut some slack, however IMO, Bell, PJ,Wona and Maric are for the hi jump. Cheney will only ever be a battler at AFL level. Spencer! the jury is still out.
  18. Very good summery of the match Jack, thread seems to have changed so here goes. We have 4.5 wins because we have a good back line, a developing mid field and a ruckman who maybe the second best in the competition at present. However our forward line has no key position forwards so we try and make do with half forwards, smaller crummers and mid fielders who drift forward. Since Neitz left we have had no KPF. When he was playing he gave us a strong good marking forward. he got the ball a lot and kicked goals, when he was beaten and the ball came to ground there were other players to get the ball and score. So players like Green and Bate look very good. Neitz also took the best defender leaving lower ability backs on the likes of Bate etc. Look at the better teams they all have large tough KPF's Seen any one in the Melbournes team that looks like Mooney,Hall or Franklin? IMO that is the reason we do so well against Collingwood they do not have a good KPF either. IMO we will at best be only a mid field team until we solve this problem. I might be very wrong but I do not see anyone on our list that fits the bill. We all hope it is Watts but I do not see any mongrel in him. He is just a kid I know, lets hope that the toughness arrives as he gets older and stronger. He just looks too nice!!

    Plan B

Spot on Titan, The think that leaves me cold is when the ball goes into our backline and all the forwards flood over the centre leaving no one in our forward half let alone our forward 50. All season I have watched the Dees get the turnover and then have no one to deliver the ball to, It happened constantly on Monday. Surely we can afford one or god forbid two playes in our forward zone! Geelong always have a couple of forwards in their half of the ground why not us?
  20. Sorry the Commodore for me from now on! It does not to go via the loop.
  21. I normally drive to the ground from Taylors lakes, on a bad day it takes about 40 minutes to get out of the ground and then drive home. On monday I decided to drive to a station and then train it in as I expected a bigger crowd than normal. Took 40 minutes to get there however the trip home took 1 hour 35 minutes, stood at Jolimont for 15 minutes before a train arrived then 18 minutes at Finders street for a train on Broady line. Both times the trains went via the loop which must have added 20 minutes min. to the journey. Why the trains do not run the other way at that time of the day when the vast majority of people are leaving the city is beyond me. Then again these are the same peolple that have delivered MYKI to us!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Guys is anyone going to Willy next saturday? as there is no Demons fix. If you think Casey is cold wait till you get to Williamstown! I am goin as long as the weather is reasonable. However if it windy or rainy it will be the telly for me. That place is like the Artic on a bad day.
  23. Agree they were both very good but the best guy for me was Jamar, he beat the Pies hands down I am struggling to remember a ruck clash he lost and was great around the ground as well. You will all fall on me but I thought Miller did a good job of helping Jamar out in the ruck today and with an ounce of luck he could have snagged another goal. He played tough today and was going as hard at the end as at the start.
