    Deemort this time last year we thought the Dees would play finals, we thought we had a developing team and a good draw. Nett result 13th. a 31 goal loss, 8 losses of 8+ goals including a 12 and 14 goal loss. The same cattle will go around in 2012. Hopefully they will improve but to expect a big rise IMO is blind optimism. Do not let your desire get in the road of the real world.

    Old55 the thing that surprises me is you seem surprised. The AFL will make these two sides successful come hell or high water. Bulldogs, North, Melbourne, Richmond, Adelaide will get it in the neck over the next few years. They do not care if we stay where we are right now. GC and GWS must rise quickly or the whole "new Teams" strategy falls apart. IMO the MFC will survive between now and 2020 if we remain solvent and the kids we have chosen up till now become as good as we hope.

    Do you seriously think we will be higher. Look at the teams above us this year who will we displace?

    Sorry for being obscure. IMO we will be no higher than 12th that only leaves 3 spots below us for Adelaide. Not a lot better deal if GWS think a future Adelaide pick is better than one from the MFC. Does that explain it?

    Don't restrict yourself to the midfield H_T There are 4 -5 other spots that need a large injection of class

    Redleg there is not too many spots below us. 18 th GWS 17 th Port 16 th GWS 15 th 14 th 13 th 12 Dees That leaves 3 spots for Adelaide, Not much in it IMO

    No one touched this RobbieF Lisle plays 2012 and Cook 2014. Well I think that would be the theory. Where does Fitzpatrick fit?

    I tend to agree with you, we still have the two compo picks. They are still valuable, two good players are still available to the MFC next year or the year after. The only thing worse than paying too much is giving them to GWS.

    Cannot remember the last one Redleg. To be honest I do not want the MFC to over pay so if the usual holds true it will be another boring week as a Dee. I would rather keep our picks for next year if we cannot get a reasonable deal. Of course the elephant in the room is " players do not see the MFC as a good spot to be" If you were Gunstone would you want to go to the Hawks with a good chance of playing in a GF in 2012 Or the Dees with a bad reputation and no chance of a GF before 2015. Easy choice for me! When we are a top six side there we will be a lot more interest in players coming to the MFC.

    My understanding is he could enter the Pre season draft, GC have first pick and they could take him for nothing. So not expecting much if anything. He gave us his best and we basically told him he was not wanted last season, So Good luck Matthew I hope it all works well for you.

    My understanding is they could appoint someone now and if there was no challenger at the next AGM the person is elected unopposed for a term.

    DC I don't think Andrew L's position was ever filled. Maybe wrong but that is my memory of things from this years AGM.

    BB the way I read it looked to me that there would not be game before the start of 2012 season. However it is mainly guess work on my part.
