  1. What's the difference? We're getting belted every week regardless of who's playing. Personally I'd take more comfort in watching the dees get beaten every week, knowing the players are at least giving it their all.
  2. It reminds me of when Clarkson and Hardwick began their coaching career. Both of their clubs were off to a very slow start, but after time things began to change. Hawthorn has been one of the most successful sides over recent years, and the tigers are even starting to show a bit
  3. Brainfades that costly warrant a slap in my opinion. Not a malicious slap, but a switch-the-eff-on slap. Extremely disappointing quarter. The umpires had nothing to do with our complete drop in intensity. So once again, is it a fitness issue?? Between the ears maybe?
  4. Matthews is such a stubborn old pr!ck! Mitch is killing it, however shcoenmakers is a terrible defender.
  5. McKenzie having a blinder, absolutely destroying Goddard!
  6. Dropping simple marks. Giving away silly free kicks. I know it's wet, but this silly little mistakes are stopping us from really getting a run on the aints
  7. Grimes gets belted and NOTHING happens. Disgusting.
  8. There was that game against Richmond (I think), when he broke a record for the most tackles inside the forward 50. I probably wouldn't say he's crucial to our set-up, but he's definitely a dangerous player. I'm especially looking forward to see him play under Neeld.
  9. Might be giving the delete button a workout I'd say. I feel awkward watching Sam during some of his segments However, JT is a very sensible young man. Going to be a fine ambassador for the club for many years.
  10. Don't apologize! Either way he clearly wasn't having any impact on the game and he is exactly the experienced type of player that need to fire if we're to see any improvement on last year
  11. Don't know where you pulled that stat from - http://live.fanfooty.com.au/game/matchstats.html?id=3938 Agree though WYL, the young leaders certainly have to 'step up' if we're to see any real positive changes.
  12. Saw Lucas at my work the other week, seemed like a really nice guy. What really surprised me though is how big he is (vertically). However, until he puts on a few more kay gee's we aren't really seeing his full potential. Darling had the physique to step straight into AFL footy.
  13. Makes a lot of sense, that is picking players to play a particular role. I remember during the Bailey era when we had the top draft picks, it was always 'get the best available'.
  14. You won't hear me laughing. His goal in the last quarter was sublime. In heavy traffic, he snaps it through of one step! I wouldn't exactly say the sky is the limit for Jones, but he was the acting skipper tonight and had a certain 'leaders presence' about him.
  15. Plus 7 tackles, very good effort.
  16. But... he's a ruckman. They're a special breed the big fella's.
  17. Port Adelaide are an ugly club to call company, agreed. It's frustrating, that is the fact we haven't got a FOJ yet. But it seems it's going to go either one of two ways. a.) We've been in negotiations with a major company, currently finalising the last details of what is going to be a prosperous and long-term relationship. Happy Days. or b.) We simply can't find a date for the dance. We're desperate and looking for a sponsor akin to Hankook. (No disrespect to Hankook intended) A sponsor though, that is going to cough up an adequate amount of $$. I think it is the waiting that is causing unrest. Bit of an understatement I know, but whoever we gets on board is seriously going to reflect on where we are heading as a club.
  18. The very best players, generally, play at the very best clubs. How can we possibly lure a player from a club that's gunning for a flag, to Melbourne? The AFL isn't like manager mode on FIFA, we cannot orchestrate these ridiculous trades to our advantage. It sucks, but it is what it is.
  19. "Neeld said some players would be rested this round, including key forward Mitch Clark." http://www.melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/default.aspx?newsid=129789
  20. The NAB cup may be somewhat irrelevant as to how a sides gunna travel in the season proper, but it can really do wonders in terms of boosting supporter confidence and excitement. Carlton in the mid noughties are a perfect example. Won the 'Wizard Cup' which led to a huge spike in membership numbers. If we can manage a win against either Collingwood or Hathworn, who knows what that'll do for the membership tally
  21. I can remember, similar 'look on the bright side' posts after we go pumped in all of our praccy matches last year. I agree, wait til the real thing gets going before we start calling for lynchings, but that was ordinary and boring football we just played.
  22. The score really doesn't reflect how bad we've played. Hard to find any positives thus far.
  23. Poor conditions are no substitute for poor decision making.
  24. Agreed.
