I would rather a dud player that wanted to play for the MFC than a good (overpaid) player that didn't... Seriously, Mitch Clark 500k+ a season?!? And he doesn't even want to play for Melbourne!!
-
I would love to see Mitch Clark in a dees jumper. However these names spring to mind: Trent Croad, Nick Stevens, Chris Judd, Jade Rawlings, David Hale, Luke Ball... By the sounds of it, we have made a great offer to Mitch and Brisbane. In the past when we have been in a two horse race for a player, and made the better offer, the player has usually ended up in the Draft. (Stevens, Rawlings, Ball)

Well said. In his first 2 seasons he played with such flair and creativeness that had pretty much never before been seen. I just hope that style of play isn't being coached out of him.

I'd much rather persist with Cook than Fitzpatrick. Neither of them look to be that aggressive, physical player that can sit in the forward line and bust open packs all day. Cook however appears to have class and skill.

Would be a shame to part ways with Maric. Has obviously run/running out of chances, but he was looking pretty impressive in the NAB cup... Don't feel as though we have gotten the best out of him.

Every player has room for improvement...

His kicking was pathetic and he's one of the very few Melbourne players that rarely have anything negative written about them on this site. It's pretty obvious the kind of player that he can potentially be one day, however he's just gotta get his body right.
-
Arguably the most frustrating player on the list because he is also arguably the most talented.
-
I meant that we could get him for very little in the sense that we won't have to give up too high a quality player/draft pick to get him. He's experienced and that is something we're desperately lacked. Matt White isn't exactly a player I'm hoping we'd get. But with Warnock wanting out I'd rather get a ready made player as opposed to a draft pick. Would add a bit of depth at the very least.

Beamer deserves his spot. Other dees to feature in the not too distant future: Trengove Frawley Watts Jurrah Blease (smokey)

We need experience and we need some solid bodies. Wouldn't mind seeing us have a crack at these guys: Matt White - Tough mid/fwd who uses the ball well. Tigers in need of a ruckman or key defender and a deal could easily be struck. Brendan Goddard - Needs no explanation as to how he can benefit us. Would have to give up something pretty special to get him. Chris Masten - According to an article in the age he's considered to be 'trade potential'. Don't know what the asking price would be but he'd certainly be able to slot into our midfield. Doubt we have any chance of getting him. Brian Lake - Experienced, big bodied and does like to spend time up forward. Doubt he'll leave, but if he does we could easily get him for very little.

I think the criticism on this site has been so harsh because he is such an important player. When he is on song he is arguably our most important player and this year was a stinker for him.

Is Jack any chance to win BOG?

Anybody who says we already have a player like Dawes (Cook, Watts, Fitzpatrick) is kidding 'emselves. Dawes is a neanderthal. He's big, strong and can split pack. None of our forwards possess those skills, so if he is even possibly available, GET HIM!
-
Completely agree. Would love Craig at Melbourne just because of his record at Adelaide (he coached them to how many successive finals series?). The crows at their peak where an extremely consistent and professional unit. Seen as though he knows how things should be done, I assume his role at Melbourne would be to help Neeld and his assistants ease into their new roles.

A lot of people are arguing that by recruiting Dawes we'll be slowing the development of Cook, Fitzpatrick etc. I'm of the opinion that it would increase the competition for spots in the side. Every week we must pick the best available side. Thinking hypothetically and down the track, if Dawes is keeping our other key forwards out of the side, they should probably look for a new home.

Which Players Will Stand Up For Neeld
Juicebox replied to Watt and Howe?'s topic in Melbourne Demons
My list of 'who I think will stand up' is identical to 'who I want to stand up' Morton Maric Grimes Jetta -
Makes the players seem broader and wider at the shoulders. If they aren't gonna play tough, they may as well look tough

AD feels he has the right to question another mans integrity and commitment?!? I pictured him to be licking his lips and rubbing his grubby hands together throughout the whole Tom $cully saga! You know what they say about people in glass houses...

Big, aggressive and can play up forward. Exactly what we need.
-
Couldn't agree more. Yesterday was nothing short of a disgrace and you wonder if the game actually had any significance, we might actually be hearing more about it (the umpiring).

Can't wait for my optimism to increase over the next 5 months, only to have it crushed in the space of hours...

Right now, I hate the MFC so much only because I love it so much. Intriguing summer lies ahead
