  1. Thats just a historical anomaly. You will rarely see it in any other major codes.
  2. The only viable asset this club has left is the "Melbourne" brand name. It would be unpalatable for this great city to not have representative club to the AFL. Rather than persisting with a dead duck or relocation a scenario that could be likely is that the club is disenfranchised. All players paid off and later reconstituted as the new Melbourne whatever. May be made up of the remnants of our current side worthy of persisting with draft picks, and others. Perhaps we will be known as the Melbourne Phoenix.
  3. I think there will be some discussions at AFL house between now and the next few weeks on our long term future. And PJ and PR will both be involved.
  4. Will be an opportunity for a 3rd rate coach to make big bucks though.
  5. It is preordained that the righteous suffer in life. Our suffering will reap rewards in the afterlife. The evil reap their reward on Earth and are damned for eternity afterwards. Feel better now?
  6. Purposely missed most of the game. Went to Williamstown for the afternoon. When I got home I watched the last 15 minutes on my iPad. Saw nothing to like. GWS completely owned us at the death. Roos may have taken on the worst club in the comp and if we end up 2nd worst when he leaves then that will be an achievement.
  7. And if that way inclined you can sneak a smoke. Not good for the health but soothing for jaded nerves.
  8. Certain individuals will have far more scrutiny to how they chase and support their teammates than ever before in their careers today. If like last week there may be metaphorical lynch mobs waiting.
  9. I wish we were in their boots.
  10. Nero fiddling while Rome burns thread.
  11. Haven't lost interest or hope yet and my anger is somewhat tempered from a year ago. but I feel very disturbed to what the likes Grimes, Trengove, Frawley, Howe and others dish up these days. They should be getting into their prime. Then we have others like Jamar, Dawes, Clark, Tapscott, Bleese etc, etc existing in a kind of limbo and doing SFA.
  12. My only criticism of Mitch is perhaps he was a little weak willed to accept the insane bucketload of money we threw at him perhaps against his better judgement and priorities. On the other hand he busted his guts and gave everything when he played for us and copped a brutal career threatening injury to boot. This is like one of those passionate fleeting ultimately unrequited love relationships that were never meant to be.
  13. That chase is a revealing snapshot for what is wrong with our club. Takes a few bad eggs not supporting their teamates to make us look real bad.Should have been a 2 on 2 situation. McDonald to Shuey. Frawley to Darling if he chased. He was not far away. McDonald started to cover the overlap from Shuey expecting Frawley to go to Darling. McDonald sensing no pressure from Frawley then had to go for ball carrier Darling and managed to cramp him up forcing the handball to now wide open Shuey and then continued to chase him in vain to goal. Frawley was just spectating in no mans land. If I were McDonald I would have blasted him.
  14. That is trully scary.
  15. Judd was a considerable investment for Carlton. He was brought in to lead them to premierships. Currently it does not look like it will happen in his twilight years. It is debateable whether Carlton are any better now than when they first recruited him. Hence I would call his tenure a failure.
  16. Liam Jurrah is a good example of an alignment of forces gathered to absolve him from his hatchet job. The difference for him was everyone lost interest after his continuing misteps.
  17. If that is the case it can only be Fremantle. They seriously lack a big forward to complement an ageing Pavlich.
  18. He is a good depth player. Something only good clubs have. Can adequately do the job required. May miss out once Lake, Stratton and Schoenmakers return. This is like us having Garland, Frawley and McDonald all out at the same time. Currently the Hawks are the most complete team in the business. I would like to know the rationale to why we did not keep him.
  19. I would not question his character. When he first injured his ankle there were plenty of dark noises around that it could be career ending.
  20. I agree, they also put in a shocker completely out of character to how they usually play. I do suspect they are somewhat intimidated by Hawthorn unlike their aproach to other clubs. They have a long time to work it out before the finals though.
  21. Mitch Clark may retire next week according to Channel 7
  22. Bump
  23. There is a chance JT will play. Someone may pull out. Seen in the past when a rated player is dropped to emergency only to get a last minute reprieve. Lets see who runs out on Sunday. Still a strong statement from Roos. Last season when there were calls for him to be dropped he was put out injured or rested or whatever.
  24. Trengove needs to reinvent himself. He has to become an inside mid. He can be a Sam Mitchell, Greg Williams or Terry Wallace if we go back into history. Big ball getters but never [censored] around with it. To make himself viable for the modern run and spread game this is the only niche that will keep him relevant.
