DEVIL OF A TIME - Match Preview and Team Selection
John Crow Batty replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I imagine Roos does not have enough ready to go personel to make a more definitive statement with selections. As for Trengove, I can't see how he is going to shed his sluggishness at Casey. Still gets enough of the ball but I envision the day when he will eventually be dropped and its a good chance it will be permanent. -
Finally Kingy Talks Sense - Free Agency is a Disaster
John Crow Batty replied to rjay's topic in Melbourne Demons
If a consequence of free agency is moving on players that are not quite a %100 committed then perhaps it is not a bad thing. Frawley has wafted along for a few seasons now. Arm twisting good players with big bucks to change clubs I believe can be counter productive in many cases. Look at Scully, Judd, Tippett, Clark and Franklin for example. None of these so far have delivered the value expected of them. Ablett has had great success at GC but he is a bona fida champion leading boys hence he can command awe and respect. -

It was clear to me what kind of leaders Grimes and Trengove were after Neeld decided to start them on the bench at our next game against Geelong post 186. They were poster boy leaders in the boy band mold. A shameful marketing exercise typical of how the club was run then.

Finally Kingy Talks Sense - Free Agency is a Disaster
John Crow Batty replied to rjay's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would be better if all players were technically employees of the AFL rather than their clubs and we would not have this mess. Then it would be easier to control player movements. All player payments paid by primary employer. AFL keeps TV money to pay the salary caps. -

The AFL are like parents with naughty children. If stern words fail, spank the children rather than send them off to reform school. Better to keep it all in the family. -
Changes for next week...
John Crow Batty replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
With no realistic prospect of having an effective tall, I believe we should try to go with the small forward line with pace. Byrnes stays along with Kennedy-Harris and include Bleese. WTF we have nothing left to try. Of course without quick forward entry we will still be stuffed. -
I just wish there was a viable way of protesting. Feel so powerless at the moment. Boycotting games is counter productive and thousands do it anyway with no traction.

Absolutely shameful, Shuey was at least 10 metres behing Frawley when Darling received the handball. In the end Shuey was 15 metres in front of Frawley when he received the handball back from Darling and goaled. Frawley was just jogging into empty space. Fair but futile effort from McDonald with no support to cramp Darling and ended up chasing Shuey too. He was trying to cover both.

If any one is interested Chan Phat grocery in Victoria St, Richmond is selling bananas for $1.29 per kilo. I bought a few kilos for myself and a couple for the local possums. How wonderful.

I reckon most in Tassie would say thanks but no thanks if we were offered to represent them.

I'd say Jamie is enjoying his footy at the moment.

i have been underwhelmed by his performances so far this season. Not to the standard of a player worth that much. He was nigh on invisible during our pathetic first quarter against WC. The last thing we need is him to put himself into self imposed cotton wool for the remainder of the season. Brian Lake was playing like shite on the infrequent occasions when he did play for two seasons and hence a destabilising force before he wriggled off to the Hawks.

Roos sounding like Neeld (The Age)?
John Crow Batty replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
Caroline Wilson has her say. Though she gives advice rather than sneering criticism. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/time-for-paul-roos-to-commit-and-start-using-the-we-word-at-melbourne-20140331-zqp24.html -
Roos sounding like Neeld (The Age)?
John Crow Batty replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
That first quarter was as bad a first quarter as I have ever seen from us. A spray is well deserved. I understand players may have past grievances but if they have now found a new grievance I would be very disappointed and what the hell do they want if so? I am also scratching my head as to why it is most of our highly players that seem to have issues for whatever reason. -
Roos sounding like Neeld (The Age)?
John Crow Batty replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
Will be interesting to see how Roos responds. He is used to have unbroken linear success as a coach. He did go through the dark days of Fitzroy as player so he should know whats its like to be player at a club on the skids. Big challenge for him. -

Roos sounding like Neeld (The Age)?

Roos did make a comment about spilled chest marks. The most obvious culprit was Watts in front of goal. At The Age again. A back page photo of Watts with his eyes closed as he spills it. No doubt bracing for the spoil around the ears in preference to swallowing the ball. -
Paul Roos sounding a lot like Mark Neeld

Changes for next week...
John Crow Batty replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
How can anyone suggest Byrnes gets dropped? The only forward doing his job at the moment. Its his role to sneak and crumb 2 or 3 goals a game. -
Time for some tough love. The two untouchables need to be backed up against the wall. Trengove could do with a spell at Casey and Grimes bookmaked for a spell too in few weeks. We can't be playing any worse without them currently. Howe also needs some pressure to hold his spot.

Having the ball so much and only scoring 4 goals and a few behinds on a perfect football day does not compute. Below par for any second rate forward line in a regulation smashing. Classic chicken and the egg problem. What comes first, the structure or the personel? WTFK's
