Lachie Whitfield under investigation
John Crow Batty replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
I heard that too. This guy exposed himself with foot in mouth. Forgot the required media lip service. Not many in the sports business take the drug problem seriously. -
Nominations for the new Richmond Board
John Crow Batty replied to pineapple dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
hardwickmi Hardwick is just hanging tough for the fat payout for when he is eventally sacked. No value in resigning. He knows that a coach with his record cannot last. -
I think Jakovich got a bit too personal and over reacted. Must be a private feud going on. I hope he brings up their drug shame to counter balance but I don't think he will.

Melbourne v Bulldogs All-Stars Women's match
John Crow Batty replied to whers_jacka_now's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
Ridiculous. Pathetic incentives and base conditions will not keep talented girls in the game. The future success of the woman's league is compromised from the beginning by the tight arse AFL. -

Don't know what wanderlust gets into the heads of particular footballers but my wife and her 2 sisters left WA at the first opportunity. -
Trade and Free Agency: The Top 10 Trade Stories
John Crow Batty replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Kind of makes sense if Fyfe wants out. Only heavyweight trades need apply. -
The ludicrous inconsistent application of the rules have corrupted the purity of ruck play insidiously for years. When a free is given it is usually for an obscure technical reason yet a ruckman is allowed to plant his foot or knee into another usually superior player to nullify him. This also adds to risk of injury. And third man up should be banned. Clear simple rules will suffice.

The worst pre-match speech ever
John Crow Batty replied to whers_jacka_now's topic in Melbourne Demons
He may have been the wrong man for the job but given the poisonous climate at the club then, any new coach would have been a dead man walking. -

Better off with Mandarin these days. -
The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
John Crow Batty replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am concerned with him on a long fat contract and if his slovenly ways persist. I also see little chemistry between him and his team mates. Some talented players who have just received lucrative contracts can slacken off. We have had our fair share. With him we may be expecting the opposite. -

John Crow Batty replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have a feeling that if we keep him we may end up with a cross between Fevola and Richardson. Sure he will kick a stack of goals like they did but also a distraction, high maintenance and ultimately lack of team success. We lack the strong leadership and culture to keep his ego in check. He has to change his ways. -

The way we played out Roos's final game. -
The worst pre-match speech ever
John Crow Batty replied to whers_jacka_now's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's a quiet week, no games, not much draft talk coming from the club and the Prima Donna can't decide which tutu to wear. And 'those who ignore the mistakes of history are doomed to repeat them' -

If clubs put these video's out for public consumption, they are fair game to comment on. -

Can a dead horse be flogged twice? This is the pre game speech when we lost to Essendon by 148 points. -
Mitch Clark - did we dodge a bullet?
John Crow Batty replied to thesleepinggiant's topic in Melbourne Demons
We all know what happened with Wayne Carey and his captain. A couple of big C's, and one played for us. -
Mitch Clark - did we dodge a bullet?
John Crow Batty replied to thesleepinggiant's topic in Melbourne Demons
Martin and Clark only played together in round 1 in 2012. Martin did not get another game until round 15 after Clark got his bad foot injury in round 14 and missed the rest of the season. Martin played 7 games after Clark got injured. Martin was traded out at end of season whilst Clark remained. And we all know the rumours. -
Mitch Clark - did we dodge a bullet?
John Crow Batty replied to thesleepinggiant's topic in Melbourne Demons
He looked amazing when he started for us but there was something fishy going on off field at the time. In round 6, 2012 against Geelong he kicked an amazing goal at the start of the game after a Herculean solo attack on the ball and not one team mate came to congratulate him. Something was NQR with his team mates. -

You need to correct your memory. Hawkins debut was in round 2, 2007 the year they started their AFL domination and won the flag. In round 3 and his second game that year he kicked 4 goals against us in a brutal hiding. That game confirmed the beginning of our painfully long decline and the beginning of Geelong's rise. -
