The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
John Crow Batty replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Better develop a new forward line and cut our losses. We can't afford another Frawley half arsed scenario and another treading water season. If Hogan has any dignity he will play like Ablett, Dangerfield and Franklin did in their last season for their previous clubs. GIven Hogan's attitude, I seriously doubt he will give a 100%. -

...except play at Casey if his back remains good. -
Good luck to him. Another of the old crew gone.

Well Hogan doesn't believe he has kicking problem. He said it himself. Blind Freddy is clearly wrong. -

I suspect both Freo and WC are detirmined not to let any player of realised value go in any trade. And if MFC plays as hard as they should it may end up a huge stalemate. Other clubs may need to get involved to get a Hogan deal done. -

NIk Nat looks like missing all next season with his knee injury. -
I would rate the last two as the best. Hawks and Port, followed by GWS where little luck went our way. All the others were against strugglers or distracted teams at the time.

Yeah a kid who acts like a spoilt brat and been allowed to get away with it. A stronger club would have put him back to the seconds for re-eduction at intervals to help him along. -

Well the goals came and never so easily when he missed a couple of games. I question the value of Prima Donna forwards that tend to dominate forward lines and muck up team balance especially with weaker clubs. Only 3 flags have been won since 1990 in hand with the Coleman medalist playing. And Crows won in 1997 with Coleman winner Modra out injured. It is arguable they would have lost with a Modra centric forward line. The list of high maintenance forwards with stacks of goals and no flags is very long. -

Completely agree. I can only recall one game where he had significant impact on our fortunes this season. That was round 1 against GWS in the last quarter. Even then, his mini explosion was a lucky start with a 50/50 free in the goal square where he was playing for a free instead of shepherding the ball through the goal line. He has the abilty to live up to his potential but he won't do it for us. -

The thought has been niggling n the back of my mind that some Vic clubs may have made a huge play on Hogan too. I suspect Collingwood for one. They have been keen on getting rid of Cloke for a long time. Cox looks like a spud. Been quiet in the pre trade stirrings. Surprised that Eddie in his media hat hasn't weighed in on the Hogan speculation. If he has please elaborate. Remember the Scully saga, Eddie was all over it. Given the recent spat with PJ, it would have been in Eddie's playbook to taunt us about it but he hasn't. Anything is possible. -

Not half as bad if he wanted to go to Collingwood. -

Flash in the pan with issues.

Family reasons is a good controversy deflecting tactic. Hard to question without appearing heartless. A favourite tactic of disgraced politicians. And we had one the other day. -

Hogan. If Freo can't make a deal then WC is always in the picture. And opportunistic clubs will have a good look if they sense he is not a 100% committed to us whatever the reason. -

There is the possibility of offers from WC and also from other Victorian clubs with deep pockets. -

If he does not want to play for us it will be no point forcing him to stay and I won't miss him. Family reasons may or may not be the prime motivator but I have seen enough of "I'm too good for this club" attitude from him. He can be a great player but I don't think he believes in us and never has. -

Too much greenery for a Perth beach path IMO. Never seen one that green. One usually gets fried walking from car park to water line over there. Then again who would be mad enough to surf on Vic beaches this week? Photo looks too nice weather beachy. -
Go back and watch the replay of the second half of the Geelong game. There are many camera crosses to our coaches box in the second half. Have you ever seen as much disappointment and shock in the coach box caused by the vagaries of inconsistency or youth? Pizz poor culture still persists.

OK, so you and wisewhatsaname drink the same bath water. Not my fault.
