  1. WJ I sprawled these threads endlessly begging we pick up Tom Lynch and no-one bought it. Come draft day, it was the last on their pick I think it was 12 and we had pick 14, and they read out Tom Lynch. I was absolutely devestated and honestly saw our chance to rise quickly go with missing out on him. I guess time will tell..

  4. It's Andy Maher the blokes useless! Why don't people understand regardless of staying or going, Scully won't be signing a contract until the end of the year. The guy's played 22 games not 200 with a brownlow and premiership like Ablett. Every game he plays his value increases hes an idiot if he's signed anything at the moment
  5. Personally I think terrible idea. If the real concern is tanking adopt the NBA model of drafting where you go into a draft lottery. Tanking still increases your chances of gaining the first pick but the bottom team hasn't gotten the first pick in previous 4 years. If I know by round 11 my team definitively won't be playing finals this year and isn't allowed to play finals next year I'll crack the sh**s. Next.
  6. I've read countless articles from Caroline Wilson and never have they been written like that. Yet, she still remains to be the chief Football writer although 2 in 3 articles never flow. Funny how the world works.
  7. For mine a multitude of reasons. For memory, when he injured the hamstring it reeked of a Grade 2 strain with inability to put weight on it, strain caused by a fast fibre motion and also the idea that obviously swelling was prevalent as the week after in the rooms he was on crutches. This kid leg power is something I hope the club harnesses in the next 10 years and rushing it back seems to me to be a bad idea. If in fact, he is 100% fit, I wouldn't be overly concerned if he played 70% in the 2's. This week is going to require the most running of the team the whole year. We have a team who stood up and dominated a team priding itself on that from Round 1 in the Bombers and beat them at their own game. Paired with this, is that coming into his injury his performance for mine was slowly deteriorating and for mine I don't think it warrants rushing back into the time like you would a Trengove. I won't be the slightest upset if he does come in HT, just see alot of benefits both long and short term for him and others if he spends one game down at Casey.
  8. He doesn't play. Would be a stupid choice.
  9. Daveytrain, sadly for you nothing will be bought up today. Scully hasn't signed as a thousand people weekly try to bring up but as Nasher aboves touches on, the chance he signs before Round 20ish is so minimal. If he had signed Round 3 he would have cost himself anywhere between 100,000 to 300,000 off his Melbourne contract. Every good game he plays (FWIW I didn't think he was all he was made out to be Friday) his next salary rises. He's not an idiot, he's not going to sign a contract just to make loser's like us happy.
  10. That point I was clearly stating how swearing seems to be becoming a social norm.
  11. ANZAC Day crowd would be down to 35,000 at quarter time. No, no and no.
  12. As much as some disagree swearing in this day and age really has become a social norm. Against Sydney I was sitting on the second level in a rather quiet section where 3 drunk guys rolled on about a variety of topics. Stefan the f**king hairdresser got a few laughs, Cale was called a [censored]-cat minus the cat countless times and the f bomb dropped countlessly. A very nice family was sitting two rows in front with kids ranging at guess 2-12.. the father did the occasional turn around to have a look who was yelling out but for 3 quarters and with ample opportunity did not move albeit with countless seats available elsewhere. They were far from a 'Collingwood' family who would expect this kind of language from Dad watching an episode of The Simpsons in front of the idiot box, and it appeared to me he has considered the behaviour to be normal at the football. That was blown by the 4th quarter when they were dropping c's and evicted but it did raise a point to me that most and granted not all, when attending the football expect that. Whether it is right or wrong is not my problem, but I think buying a ticket to a game comes with the *conditions apply that maybe just maybe some passion will be shown.
  13. I could be mistaken but he had over 200 demerit points from this, a downgrade from Intentional to Reckless may not put him under 100 demerits. He may need it to be thrown out completely to be clear this weekend.
  14. Bingo, bingo and bingo. The amount of passion people show on here, especially using their spare time to talk Dees, suggest that this team is our lives. It is than completely understandable at times for the emotion to over-ride you. Just like it is a joke for players not to be seen swearing in front of the camera (THE biggest joke of a rule ever), at times supporters will swear in the true taste of passion for sport. I am openly admitting I am one who whilst at the game has very little control from the first bounce until the final siren.. but I do agree, if little kids are around, and I'm young comparatively myself, I always move myself or am mindful of my language. If I got booted from the G for calling Strauss' HTB decision f**king balls I'd never be able to go back.

Whilst this may be the case not every player is drafted as a ready made AFL footballer. He came to the club as a skinny kid with no definition and is now playing as a man. Not every man is built like Tapscott from 17 and therefore for an even playing field it makes more than 3 years to judge a player and for that to make the comment that he should be judged because he's been in the system 3 years and played 3 games is idiotic.
  16. I think Bartram will play and I also have a tiny inkling Petterd will get up for this one. However, this is where the trouble comes in for selecting a side. These are the only possible changes I can make: Evans - Bartram Nicholson - Petterd These are changes forced by choosing the better player, not by virtue of poor form. Petterd than becomes my sub. The offence ability of him and his immediate impact is something I feel you need to beat a team like Collingwood. Nicholson is good, don't get me wrong, however you need an X factor to beat a Collingwood and Petterd for mine, is a risk I take. Evans gets dropped by virtue of no other option. The back 6 against Essendon were elite, I felt each beat their direct opponent and for youngsters Bennell, Strauss and Morton this was unexpected but highly enjoyable. Confidence for these 3 is critical and for mine, sadly Evans must go. I like the look of him but his disposal efficiency for mine is just 2% of where it should be.
  17. I'm normally a hater but on Friday night I found myself saying wow Jetta had a good one. Consistency the key for me, tackles are good but you need to be offence too. Two goals had me impressed however.

That paragraph made me smile. God i love to hate Essendon

Strauss' disposal efficiency was 85% whilst Scully's was 62.5%. If you call Strauss' kicking poor, what are your comments on our great one Titan. They have chosen a 3rd gamer to do the kick-outs, but from now on, those in the actual know are irrelevant. Titan > Dean Bailey
  20. Just heard on the radio its alleged someone was racial vilifying Krakouer. I don't know how true it is, but even though I hate Eddie so much, completely agree with this. Society is over s**t like this and people who do it rightly deserve to be put in their place or lockup for the night.
  21. GUN GUN GUN GUN GUN. I don't know why I just love him. I have a tiny concern abit like Jurrah that he flies a touch too often.. keeping your feet is a key in helping the forward press to work but hey, I'll forgive him if he keeps taking hangers.
  22. Was by far the worse decision of the night, threw the prior opportunity rule out the door. He beat Zaharakis comprehensively tonight, who by many accounts is a very very good attacking forward. If you call that not defending than football's changed more than I thought
  23. are you f**king retarded? the jetta debacle was caused by jetta's kick? i thought in one on one contests he was very good. the only time he was genuinely outmarked was against crameri in the final term but a 6'4 90 kilo on a 6'2 82 kilo is a poor matchup from however left him open. Personally I think you're an idiot.
  24. everyone said Strauss was worse than Zakarakis? Flogged him tonight for mine!!
  25. I was going Howe and Strauss but yeah that too.
