Never thought of it that way WJ. Very well written and interesting how the tiniest loss/draw along the journey can have such an impact!

Frightful Occurence at a Football Match in Carlton
Arrow replied to Flying Cloud's topic in Melbourne Demons
the deeees! -
With all due respect when the guy has played AFL at the top level, why in god's name are you judging him on highlights as an 18 year old 3 years ago. Completely irrelevant.

We are asking for pick 50 for Matthew Warnock and apparently Gold Coast not keen to budge on it. Hopefully they will roll over on this and that is what is expected

Just like one Mitch Clark 'said' I'm only going to the Dockers. The media is the media after all. The way the Bombers trade I'm incredibly confident if he gets trade it would be to any team other than them. Hello Demons.

Sadly for Al he had one good year and because of poor drafting has occupied the cellar for the previous 5 or 6 years. Sound familiar?! Only kidding, I also like the quote a Just winning would be something that I could seriously get excited for.

For anyone who played Ultimate Footy this year with me, it is solely based around a few statistics of each player. This year I decided to pick up Mitch Clark and thus watched him closely each and every week and position myself to be moderately confident in discussing him. There is alot of talk about Clark's ability in the ruck vs. the forward line. From this year's watching I am 100% sold on him being a KPF as opposed to a ruckman. For my fantasy team I was hoping he'd be more active in the ruck but he was not this year and with Brown's injury often played deep. One of the things I noticed alot of Clark was his assists. Unlike soccer there is no actual 'assist' column in the paper but Clark would be huge. Consistently taking marks inside or around 50, I often was frustrated at how often he would handball to the runner streaming through or center a ball when inside 50. It may be a good attribute but I often like forwards who are confident to have a go when inside 50. I couldn't find a reason for his negativity at kicking for goal- he is actually quite accurate albeit with the occasion squib but it will be interesting to see what he is like next year. Finally, the dukes he has are exceptional. I don't know what else I need to say other than this video..

Sorry not confirmed but given Freo have traded up to have 2 picks inside the top 20 to on-trade the deal has to be done. Read over some articles about him and it's all about his family illnesses his grandma dying of cancer etc; he won't go anywhere unless its Perth. I'm upset because he would have been great but for the first time in many years I'm impressed by the work of the MFC in having a dip. Our name is getting out there and we're in with a shot with these big players. I can't force the players to come to the club but I can force the club to do it's best to try and get them. That to me is what they are doing.

gone to freo now

No players would be traded from Melbourne. WOuld be Player for pick; or play and pick for pick and pick.

Irishman from St Kilda. 195cm and 96kgs.

Fremantle are only offering pick 20 and Brisbane are saying definitive no. Given the bickering that is going on between the clubs for mine I think Brisbane will be quite pi55ed off at the Dockers. With that I believe it will only take any sort of increase on their bid to get it over the line. Just my opinion.

No problem mate; 1. Said that now that it's out in the open we will be going for Mitch Clark and are very keen. 2. Haven't discussed whether we will part with pick 12, we'll talk draft picks if and when Clark says he is interested in coming. 3. Are interested in Tommy Walsh from StKilda but on that note theres another 8-10 that interest us. 4. Today will be an interesting day to watch.

Tim Harrington's cautious approach to the mini-draft
Arrow replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
We put two first round picks on the line for a player who is younger than Jack Viney. That is far from cautious. We were beaten by a team who the 2nd earliest pick and a heap of compo picks they can throw away knowing that if they screw up the AFL will guide them out of it. I'm disappointed we didn't get him, but Tim Harrington aint to blame. -
Project player for mine. Prefer Bate in short term than Daw

I have it on good knowledge JW is hung like a horse. Don't ask you don't want to know.

Paul Roos called Leigh Brown the worst AFL player to ever play 200 games and I don't disagree with him. Apart from being big he has next to no ability; is poor below his knees and doesn't specialise in any one area- he just roams all of them. This is turn for me suggests 'no' as a coach. Any player de-listed by the Kangaroos should not coach Melbourne Football Club.

Come on that's really just a silly comment. You cannot compare people from completely different decades and ways of life and say one did this. Today football is as much about keeping the external happy as the internal and unlike the old days it's not a sport it's a business. Following your point, I can guarantee when Norm Smith was around there was no people bitching about Debt Demolition or posting on forums- nor was there 6 football shows per week watched by millions critiquing his each and every move. Neeld is positioning himself to best create an environment where us as supporters feel like we are connected to the club. We all know he won't be posting gameplans so what is the problem?

David King coached the Carey Baptist XVIII footy team this year. Best friend's brother ran around for the team and having a kick with him he mentioned what a coach he was. Said he'd never met someone with such an amazing grasp of seriousness and mateship. Was an absolute great guy with all the boys but when it came to crunch said what he had to say and left no stone unturned. Apparently was also ultra aggressive very angry and very firm in the feeling that if a fight eventuates in the game, every player go in and back up your team mate. There is a coach I can warm too.

Jack Watts panelist on The Footy Show tonight
Arrow replied to The Chazz's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ironic, you two have spent half the thread fighting with whether it's a good show or not. To me the thread title read's about how Jack was on the show and what he said.. Onto other matters, can someone please post the general jist of what JW talked about? Worked till late and forgot to record it but am intrigued to know how he spoke and what we spoke about. -
I believe you're referring to Paul Duffield from Fremantle. I don't know of a Michael Duffield but I could be wrong?? Here's my issue- Everyone becomes obsessed each year with landing that huge blow in trade week and changing our club forever. None of the above names jump out at me as being good trade options. The thing with AFL trading is you either pay way way too much, or way too little. Steven King went to the Saints for about pick 120 whilst David Hale pulled a first round draft choice. I do not want to pay overs for any of the available types this year. If Brendon Goddard is available next year well there is a difference but I just don't like throwing away our picks and money at maybe options.
